I remember that well, they also had there operators licence taken of them at the same time for bad vehicle maintainance, they also tried to overload one of my vehicles then got the bollox when they were told to take it off.

taking a photo, or writing information in a notebook, asking me similar questions, my answer,
as always, would be, I am not permitted, by my client, to disclose any information, but if you

The crane with all the compressed booms is a City Crane. They are made for tight spaces usually in Cities. I'm guessing when resting, the boom has to be lowered because eventually all that pressure and all that weight would put stress on the hydraulics over time. Lovely video BP thanks.

I can explain why they shut the gates - they have no authority to prevent what you are doing and don't get their silly questions answered so they act like children and shut the gates.

They close the gate for same reason that dogs piss on trees etc, marking his territory.
The rights he has are not the same as your right to film considering GDPR puts strict rules on him.
Can I make a suggestion: When the old guy says, "..and what project is that?" you could say "that's private information" then that would make him say, potentially, "well this is private property" "But I can see right in, not that private mate"
Leaving machines extended makes them much harder to steal. We got told the all the time when i worked as a digger operator.
The Why, Why, Why, Why, Why on the Cam-Backer was brilliant 🤣👍 The gazebo in the corner of the yard looks like a pit (imagine how big & expensive a lift would be to handle the size & weight of those cranes) where they can remove planks as needed then drive or reverse their cranes in over the pit for inspection & maintenance underneath.

Its good practice to test for hydraulic leaks by extending the booms and seeing if they lose pressure. Best to do it when the cranes are not on hire obviously

If you leave the crane extended it keeps pressure on the hydraulic seals and stops them leaking
Same principle as not leaving an air-rifle under pressure I guess.

They leave them up because if there's a leak in the hydraulics, when they show up in the morning they'll know about it before they start work. The thing will have dropped.

Wanna hear about a big crane? I worked on the Canary Wharf site, and for two days they hired a huge special mobile crane for a particular job. It cost ten grand a day, and that was in about 1989.

Cranes (etc) are sometimes left parked with booms extended so thieves cannot simply drive them away.....
