My guess is that over 80% of Amira's followers have the same sentiments as you two gentlemen that is they were not big opera followers but once they heard Amira that changed everything. That's Amira's magic! Take this aria for instance you can find others on YT but non better than Amira at least to my ear. Amira just brings it to another level.
I think everyone who listens to Amira's music will agree that Amira naturally has the most beautiful voice on earth❣🎼🎤😊👍
She was born March 27, 2004 and this performance was at her Christmas concert in 2020 so she was only 16. The extreme power and purity of her voice is just beyond belief.

Amira's voice is esquisite since she began singing at 9 years old. Such pure voice. I can see it many times and for me it is like the first time. God bless and keep her so we can enjoy such beautiful voice. I enjoy it so much.

This was posted a year ago, making Amira 17 (or younger) at the time. I feel like if she got too close to the microphone, she would blow the speakers---high frequency and all that volume. For someone like Jorge Chaves to say that Amira "continues her path of becoming the greatest singer of all times" is really something. From learning how to sing opera on CZcams (self-taught) to the greatest singer of all time. That's just mind boggling. Like you, Amira has brought me around listening to her sing opera. Don't know what it is, but her voice is pure Magic. Love you guys, and thanks for promoting my two favorite singers---Amira and Angelina Jordan. 😊😊

This is from her streamed concert An African Christmas with Amira and friends. Dec 2020, she was 16. It was filmed over two days, and on the second say she developed a high T° and a fever, so she wasn't at her best. Still knocked it out of the park in my opinion though. She had to come back a week later to complete the recordings, Id give it 10. Dr. Charles du Plessy was on the piano, and he did most of the musical arrangements too. The lyric is basically Virgini of the Angels (Mary) Protect me with your mantle. ( repeated) Other clips from this concert, available on you tube, are. I'll walk with God, a duet. Little drummer boy, ( African style, and a lot of fun). and the Lords prayer which completed the show, and is surprisingly tuneful in Amira 's hands. There is also a behind the scenes video of the show, which is where Amira confesses to feeling unwell.

There are female singers all over the world who are good at singing, but even among them, Amira is not a singer created by humans. People are fascinated and get goosebumps and shed tears. Amira is special.

If you listen to other opera arias by Amira then listen to other older, highly trained other opera professionals I guarantee you will prefer Amiras' version by far.
She will often interpret the piece in a very different way then it would be considered the traditional "correct" way but she always manages to interpret the deepest meaning of the music.
Her showtunes and classical crossover pieces are fantastic for the same reason. She manages to reach and express the deepest meaning of the music.
I would suggest you react to "When You Wish Upon a Star next. Very much a non operatic song but Amira makes it her own with a very beautiful, slow deep and round sound where she extends almost every note. She's accompanied by her father in this piece which was her submission for a streaming concert for the veterans. Lovely, lovely very moving performance.
She has been in contact with veteran groups that use her music for therapy. Another facet of Amiras' giving soul. Remarkable and humble young women and I have to say you guys have done her justice with your reactions, great job. By the way, just 16 here.

My little dude had his appendix out Monday morning, was discharged Tuesday afternoon, but we're back again as his temperature keeps spiking. Obviously I haven't left his side. Music is universal. It doesn't matter if you like a genre or not. Me, I've got my favourites but also bits and bobs from less known or popular genres. Jazz, blues, R&B, any language, opera, film, heavy metal, chansons etc etc. There is always a masterpiece or more to find in any genre and from all over the world. It doesn't take away you favourite kind of music... it only enriches your mind, soul and therefor life.
If there was or is a list for best female singer ever, Amira would not be at the top of it.
Simply because I refuse to call her a singer..... she is way above such list...

I am an older fan who is basically Classics orientated but my daughter introduced me to different genres and now can appreciate Viking Metal! There's a tribal resonance that really calls to me. Who'd of known!
Hi BP1 & BP2 great show, love Amira what a great talent she is, to sing like she does at such a young age in front of thousands of people with a full orchestra takes a very special person to do that. I do hope she starts to travel back to Europe and USA to do her own concerts she would sing to a full house every time. I have also been following another special singer who is the same age as Amira 18 years old her name is Lucy Thomas she sings Pop and middle of the road music she has a younger sister called Martha they both sing together, you can find them on CZcams. One of her songs has 21million views give them ago I am sure it would triple your reactions. Keep up the good work Barbara Callister.

Still hoping that some day you will react to either Nella Fantasia sung when she was 12, or Ave Maria by Gomez when she was just 11 years old. I never thought i would listen much to opera either, began to hear it on the Andre Rieu concerts where we discovered Amira. Since then i enjoy seeing other people reacting to Amira, whether as the dainty little girl with the huge but controlled voice, or the up to date Amira, where we can hear her voice progression. Hoping you continue the journey as there are so many more songs i am sure you would enjoy.
Not meaning to take anything away from Amira, as they are completely different, but have you heard of an English singer by the name of Lucy Thomas and her young sister Martha? Might be worth a listen as well
Amira is wonderful. I've listened to all performances that are on YT since I saw her audition on HGT in 2014 (a year after it aired). The Triumphal March from Aida introduced me to Giuseppe Verdi about 40+ years ago. Unfortunately, he passed away a couple of years before he could bask in my admiration of his work. I feel Amira was a world-class talent by the end of the HGT that she won. And, she has gotten better each year since.

I agree - Amira is just an absolutely incredible performer, and I am one of her biggest fans! Hardly a day goes by that I don't listen to one or more of her recordings! Whenever I go to Potchefstroom (Amira's hometown, not far from where I reside) I always keep a lookout for her, it is one of my bucketlist items to see/meet her in person. So glad to see that there are also a few other people that like Lucy Thomas, also an incredible artist, and only a month older than Amira. My day would be incomplete not listening to Amira and/or Lucy. Hope you will react to Lucy Thomas (and sister Martha) as well. We are so blessed with TWO artists (Amira and Lucy) of the same age, that in my opinion are the best voices ever to grace this planet.

One of the many things I love about Amira is her instinct to blend with the team around her, it's not all about her & this is a perfect example.

Great that you are contributing to her charity! Some background, for the record - This is from her 2020 Christmas concert (the whole of which is available as a DVD or on a USB stick, from Gelukskinders). It was her second "streaming" concert, in the midst of the Covid-19 lockdown, in the Atterbury theatre, which is a properly acoustically-designed venue in Pretoria - however, due to Covid, there was no audience actually in the theatre; merely about ten video cameras spread around. This is a form of marketing in which the listeners purchase a ticket that allows them to listen to the concert (for up to 72 hours). The cost of a ticket was about 10 EU. This means that everybody gets front row, centre seat. La Vergine degli Angeli is a prayer from the heroine of the opera to "the virgin of the Angels" for protection - from her brother, who blames her for her father's accidental death, and (in typical Verdi style) eventually discovers where she has gone into seclusion and kills her - most Italian operas seem to have tragic plots; but it's a very beautiful piece of music. Notice how far she was, from the microphone; her maturing voice was already quite powerful, at 16.
That is the hard part of Opera, But, it is music, just beautiful

gelukskinders ...I am not sure but I believe it means 'lucky children' This particular piece is frequently performed by lyric sopranos to showcase their talent and voice and her performance ranks among the best that can be found anywhere. It is always performed with a male choir which frames the soprano voice. It is like laying a diamond on a black cloth.
Correctly the word Gelukskinders comes from the South African!

In the opera the male choir is off stage. This concert arrangement highlights the interplay between choir, orchestra and soloist.

i'd like to know why did he ding her 1.2 pts which to me was a 10. i don't have to know what the words are to give her my reaction and it takes a few seconds to look up the meaning which is basically, "The angel of god protects me."

Hello again from New Zealand! :) I really enjoy your reactions, and often come back to them, especially the one where you first discovered Amira :) I've followed Amira's progress over the last few years, and I am always enchanted by the sound that is well beyond her years. There are many child singers, but very few reach those rare lofty heights like Amira.
There is one other that you may like to explore, and who I would put on the same level as Amira, and that is Emanne Beasha. She was born in 2008 and first performed on AGT at age 10. She has a very similar background to her singing career in that she learned from YT. They're also both quite athletic, and do well. They have also both performed with Andre Rieu; Emanne was 11 then.

I didn't like the Finals, as I felt that she was overshadowed by the well-known pianist who accompanied her. Not sure if the two links are the best ones to watch, but if you didn't see her, other then her lower register, you wouldn't really know that a child of 10 was singing. Emanne also did a magnificent performance of a song for Jordan :)

Hi guys. Appreciate your reactions, but 8.8 averaged with 9.8 comes to 9.5? Showing a little favoritism there, aren’t we BP1? That look of disappointment when BP2 came in with 8.8. Kind of like how I felt with your review of HF’s Helplessly Hoping. I chaulked it up to you having a bad day, or just not liking the genre. Cheers!

Amira does not sing with her full opera voice in this performance. It's a mix musical-opera voice. For her closest true opera voice you'll have listen to her Tribute To Morricone. And as you say you normally don't enjoy opera, few people actually do. Logically when listening to Amira with her full opera voice you then won't like listening to her either, because her voice then begin to sound like that typical not so pleasant opera voice.
Yeah! Her Tribute to Morricone, singing a song from the movie Cinema Paradiso is out of this world, a truly fantastic dramatic soprano version. I would add her rendition of the song Caruso, performed in 2020 with Johan Erasmus on piano in Musikland. No music director around refraining her.
@@jorgechavesfilho Agree her causal Erasumus Caruso is fantastic and so much better than the theatre version where outside people messes up the style not suiting her voice. The reason is because in the Erasumus Amira sings with her natural patented voice no other singer can imitate, at least not what I've heard. A voice she sings most effortless with. Actually she sang with the same natural born technique in her audition at HGT. With her true opera voice I mean the voice that is required when singing educated classical-opera . When learning The Morricone Tribute she actually had lessons with her NL vocal coach who is a trained classical-opera singer and that explain the vocal result in that song.
Her true best and most spectacular voice is the one she uses with Erasmus. I've said it many times, don't mess up singers natural voice with too early classical or whatever bad vocal training. Probably there is no teacher who can teach how to sing like Amira natural voice and technique, probably not even improve, teachers can only bow in respect.
