Unfortunately Games Workshop now does the bidding Slaanesh and a modern remaster would cost full price.
This game actually got me into 40k. It helped me understand the basics of how 40k worked, while leaving me curious for more. With no knowledge, I was able to understand the plot, the characters, and what each was trying to do

If the Eldar could learn to not talk in f***ing riddles when there's nothing to be gained by it, the whole galaxy could be saved a whole lot of butt-hurt.

Some of the dialogue in this is absolutely scintillating. "I put my own world to the torch. I killed with the Inquisition's eager sanction and watched too many innocents die in a holy firestorm. Yet here I am again, at yet another doorstep, the executioner's blade in my very hand."
"Blessed is the mind too small for doubt. Perhaps there is wisdom there, Gabriel...for the both of us."
40K's rulebooks are interesting and frequently funny or cool, but this original game made the concepts feel human, like they were happening to and within a world of actual people with feelings. No wonder it got me into the setting when nothing else had before.
yes i dearly wish for a dow1 remake. sadly there is a 2% chance that relic would ever do that
This needs a modern graphics remaster. I want to see some halo infinite levels of graphic quality with this. How awesome would that be?

Coming back to this again, I find it heart-breaking when in Mission 10, at the end, Gabriel almost starts to despair with the whole situation relating to the Guard and Cyrene but Isador comforts his best friend by saying he did the right thing and this is right before he turns, showing that Isador was a great man but Chaos just fucked with him. It really is tragic that Isador even though borderline insane, still gave solace to Gabriel. Thanks again keeping this up man.
I just realized that the orks we were fighting are the blood axes klan, that would explain why they were very cunning
If you look at their colours they're actually Evil Sunz. The Orks were only cunning in this due to Sindri manipulating them. Malidictus at the end even says that he "Arranged the Ork invasion, knowing Space Marines would come to end their threat." The planet was nothing more than a blood altar in sacrifice to Khorne so that Kyras could free Malidictus and set up the future warp rift of Sub Sector Aurelia in Dawn of War 2.
ye i think those boys are Evil sunz. Gorgutz is also evil that, didnt check but they might also be variotions at some point. The strangest thing to me was the inclusion of "Fully fledged chaotich Alpha Legion"
@Rostam 40k Archives It is stated that the Alpha legion by the 40 first millennium are split into different Warbands like the World Eaters (Until Recently that is...) and with their Primarch not at the helm, order and chain of command probably broke apart so some went and did their own thing. Also, like the ones that helped Kyras later on too though they were more an extension of Sindri's original Warband.

Thank you for this glorious video battle brother! This campaign was my introduction to the 40k universe. I still have fond memories of those days when I was a kid: this stuff really blew me away back then.

So much better than Dawn of War 3. The first two Game Series had the best Stories and Voice Acting. Yes... even Soulstorm is better than the shit we got. Kyras and Sindri along with many of the other characters were so compelling and interesting the fucking writing was fantastic and now... it's gone to shit. Thanks for this meanwhile.

Greetings brother, glad you liked it! Aside Dow3 and Dow1Soulstorm, the DOW franchise is a series that is deserved to be stored in the archives for the future generations, Along with the rest of 40k video games
I was terrible as a kid but when I installed it recently, I had a blast playing on Insane
When you play against Necrons, they're slow so if you rush resource points on the middle, you can beat them later xD In SS at least
People are comparing it favorably to DoW 3 - I agree, this is much better.
DoW 3 isn't totally awful in my mind. I wish Chaos weren't just copies of other units though.
The plot would have been better if there was more back and forth between Macha and Gabriel, especially in that last mission.
It's miles better than Dawn of War 3. The Voice Acting, Writing, Music and Design are amazing in the first two game series. The 3rd one is dogshite by comparison.

Here to wax the nostalgic. I've played some 40k games before this. Space hulk (1993) , Final Liberation (1997) , Chaos gate (1998). But nothing reeled me into 40k universe like the original Dawn of War.

This Game introduced me to the World of 40k. I only played WHFB and i liked more, but then i realized that they took WHFB into a greater scale, more or less. And now, here iam, a pious Servant of the Emperor of Mankind. Books, Games etc i cant get enough xD

That is also true, the books are great!!! horus heresy, Battle of Armageddon, ... the first 40k book i read outside of horus heresy was also baneblade, good stuff! in fact come to think of it, i may do a book review on that :) Glad to meet another person who is mad about 40k, great to meet ya bratha! Now gonna go watch the new Alfabusa video which just poped :D
@@RostamArchives I started with Gaunts Ghosts. There was a Warhammer Store in my Hometown and the Owner became very ill and sadly he had to close his Shop. He sold me about 40 Book´s from his Librarium ( which was free to read in his Shop) for almost nothing. It was a Collection from all Warhammer and 40k Books. The Emperor smiled down on me that Day.
@@joearschtreter7165 Nice! Gaunt's Ghost is just great. As i said before gaurdsmen are more human hence the great "realistic" atmosphere. My first books was horus rising. I remeber having a great connection to the charachters like "Garvi Loken" and "Zahariel El Zuries" . Luna Wovles (The old LW) and Fallen Dark Angels have been my favorite legions ever since; Also having mad respect for "Iron warriors", they do their own thing, a great many of them distancing themselves from chaos while also oposing against the imperium, even having a few loyalist succesive chapters; they do their own things, being truly the men of principal and idealogy. Also like Darkangels and thousand sons. Damn these nerdy talks are so great fealsgooodman :3

3:35 Civilians? How can there be civilians in the 41st Millenium? I thought the only line of work the Imperium had to offer was life in the military.
Yes indeed. Imperium has so many civilians. It may just be CSGoto writing or some other reason. But generally speaking Imperial assest are far more important to the imperium and overall space marines (Imperium has lots of ppl, losing feeders doesnt matter much to them). SM overall dont care much unless it is their recruiting worlds (Only salamanders care about civis); overall i have to agree with SM. I was reading the novel "Baneblade" there was an "Imperial retreat" in it, the Guardsmen stayed behind until the Leman russ and Baneblade platoons retreated first (Paragonian superheavy divisions, savalar chem dog infintry and some other gm)

it is called "the demon of maledictice" indeed. the fact is in 40k demons dont have certain names for example in horus heresy (the first heretic) Ingethel the demon prince says that these are given names by the mortals. in this case the stone which this demon was locked it was called maledictum (in latin "maldedicta" means curse). He is a greater demon of khorne ; a powerfull blood thirster which atm is in its ethereal form

@@nobby3265 I got the same question mate. The thing is CS Goto is one of the weakest 40k writers (The Dow Series and Bloodravens Writer). So I dont put much face to the lore outside the Dow Games itself. The game lore is ok since it was managed by THQ and its staff, the book series though... not so much imo.

Still remember buyings its CD (or mb it was DVD, dont recall) back in 2004. I think i will stream the campaign on twitch (have finished it a million times). Also Imo Dark crusade is the best one.
@@RostamArchives I still have the disc versions of all the games in the 1st series too. Thank goodness Sega offered to give free Steam keys of each of those games after emailing them the game manuals with the keys

Why are the Eldar always so infuriatingly stupid? If they wanted to ally to fight Chaos they should have just started with that instead of attacking the Space Marines and using a bloody avatar of Khaine on them
Oh wait till you see the rest of the series, it gets waaay worse! Eldar literally are "Bubonic Plague", sergent Tarkus describes them well

I adore the voice acting of this game. They sound sooo brilliant. Voice acting of the "space marine" is good too, especially of lieutenant Mira (so pleasant to listen to her).
