Battle of the comps! Stacatto, Nighthawk custom, Taran Tactical. Which would you buy?

- I have had time on all 3 of these pistols. Each has some unique features. Huge shout out to Taran Tactical for sending me out a brand new Sand Viper to T&E, Same goes for Nighthawk Customs for sending out the TRS comp, these pistols are in very high demand, and NHC sent out a TRS comp with all the upgrades one could as for. The staccato is one of my personal daily blasters.
Excellent video, as always! Thanks for checking out the TRS Comp!
Appreciate the support!! I will see you guys at shot show.
IMO, the Taran Tactical is not worth its cost... Just because of marketing and a movie doesn't mean it's worth the asking price... Insane!
Supply and Demand, they sold out in a day, just depends on who you are on if it’s worth it to you or not. The sand viper already holds the 2 gun national title, and the pit viper also.
💯 agree
@@walterlangkowski4723 so does the gun aim and shoot by itself? Im sure glock has held that title a few times being a poor mans gun… its what you practice with… most of the expensive guns are just marketing after a certain point…
@@walterlangkowski4723 demand doesnt make a product worth the cost though, that demand is driven from the marketting
@@walterlangkowski4723 their shooter does. Not the gun . Nils Jonassen won the production division with a $600 Canik Rival
Atlas Erebus is the Mount everest of comp guns!
When you go beyond a Staccato it’s diminishing returns. It’s more about exclusivity and customization.
And the performance long term. And the craftsmanship when it comes to brands like Nighthawk, Cabot, Wilson combat, Alchemy etc. those brands and pistols will hold their value far longer than a Staccato will. And their performance will still be there simply due to the craftsmanship in the pistol from the start.
My vote is for a chambers custom. Truly hand fit craftsmanship that will last a lifetime. If i ever sold my nighthawks, thats where my money is.
@@rdrgearyou're talking out of your ass, you have evidence for that statement? Also Alchemy is a joke, I've bought 2 1911s from them I sold within a month because of poor finishing, first was sloppy slide stop and also safety fitting to the point of barely being functional and the other had terrible blending all around I regret ever doing business with them and dealing with their douchebag sales guy was the cherry on top. FUCK Alchemy.
As an owner of an XC and TRS, I agree with your conclusion. XC is my go to range toy followed closely by the TRS.
Sand viper is too expensive. Staccato is too plastic. Correct answer is nighthawk.
I bought the XC. Because I didn’t know the others existed at the time.
Edit: loving the XC though. Accurate fast and I can’t stop shooting it. Goes with me to the range every time and already have thousands of rounds through it.
Also like the barrel is part of the comp. It’s unique.
Check out Cheely Custom Gunworks. That's the answer to your Staccato being to "plastic".
@@joncos9579 good point. The plastic grip is growing on me though. I don’t feel the need to add more money into it. I’d rather spend on ammo.
For the money staccatos absolutely killing it out here
It’s over priced by about 800. But I agree it’s a pistol at 3200-3300
What should the nighthawk be priced at then?
@@2005bjpatton man it all depends on what you pick. The Trs comp in this video is 6200
@@rdrgearyeah right lol who else is making something that competes with the XC for 3300. Most aren't at the full price of the XC.
@@BIGSexy484 the xc is the glock 34 of 2011’s.
Sandviper is beautiful and amazing gun, but my favorite is staccato xc I like it very much
Beautiful pieces but the TT price is just completely stupid. Without the movie hype theyd be the same price as the Nighthawk. Personally, give me the Staccato with leftover $ for optics, light, training, and ammo.
Damn you have money for accessories and ammo after buying the xc? Must be livin comfy
@@HarryJunk hell no thats why I have a P 🤣
For the money you can’t beat an XC, even if you buy the prodigy and have it sent to a 2011 shop by the time your done, you will be spending more then an XC in the end, and the XC will still outshoot the prodigy. Ask me how I know
Lmao how did you put 3k into a prodigy
False the XC with a comp will not outshoot a custom prodigy with a comp or slide comp period. The prodigy already shoots softer adding the comp and internals makes it insanely soft and accurate. And, it only costs $800 bucks total for the upgrades so you are maybe spending 2100 to 2400 total and that is stretching it.
For the money, performance, looks and that you can customize to your likes and wants and still be cheaper than the other 2, the XC is hard too beat! Let's not forget Atlas gunworks
OMG someone actually made the video I Googled!! Bravo!!
Great video! Just thought I'd mention a tight shot group is not contingent on having a sight zero'd. Liked what you said about the fundamentals...spot on. Thanks for the vid!
No the dot makes a huge difference. For a shooter who is at a non master level. It’s very difficult to rat hole a target at 25yds. Same application goes a scoped rifle. If the weapon set is not 100% dialed does not matter how good the shooter is.
@@rdrgear I could agree with that, and before I go any further let me just say I throughouly enjoyed your video and I have the upmost confidence that you are as proficient as they come. With that being said...had I been watching a "non-master level" I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But with all due respect, you sir passed the non master level a long time ago and were shooting B8's at 15 yds not 25 yds. Kinda felt like you were a little reluctant to give Staccato it's full credit cause that whole subscription thing...lol. Great video though!!
@@RoughRiderFORlife lol Chris, you crack me up. I am in no way there. It’s funny that just recently after taking a class with the boys at Ridgeline. I had never really invested in gun set up. Or did it think in a weekend. I would learn to zero my gun to me. Versus shooting to my zero. I appreciate the support and the compliments. And most of all the Engagement. Have a great weekend.
I hit the play button with some nervousness, having just bought a Staccato XC for my birthday. Still haven’t made it to the range for first shots, but really looking forward to firing it soon. Especially after your review stroking my confirmation bias to the point of needing a cigarette. Great points and highlights on all three of these fabulous weapons-will be looking forward to more of your videos after I hit subscribe. Thanks.
Thank you for the commentary. I hope you are around for more reviews. Thank you Poohpaw!
Wow Jeff, thank you for this awesome comparison 🙏💪🙏
I'm in the market for a Comp'd 2011 and you just solidified my choice the XC it will be. Cheaper and a hell of a Laser Beam. With the money I'm saving, an SRO will be purchased as well.
Glad I could help. Just remember is you choose to a active retention holster like one of our rds holsters or a black hawk holster. The SRO will be an issue due to its length. If you go with any other Reddot. (Which I recommend) your holster options are endless.
Jeff
Great video as always and good to hear that the XC found a way back to your liking. Side note: the quality and production of your videos are very professional. Good ish!
i wish , i could have this NightHawk Custom 9mm.
its Awesome Pistol craftmanship.❤
Atlas if we're featured. But the nighthawk all day long.
I did reviews on the erebus. These are all pistols that flirt between competition and all around traning/duty 2011’s. That’s why the atlas was not included
i am also a nighthawk fanboy, their guns are just elegant and gorgeous. and i appreciate their brand recognition, hand made, custom built, and classy. yet functional and able to be daily use.
Went with the XC as they offered similar performance for a better price to the nighthawk and Sand viper. If money wasnt an option, than the sand viper cause i love the colors but nighthawk and XC are close behind.
Thanks for the comparison. At the price point, I can't justify the Sand Viper. However I'm on board with the XC and TRS Comp. I shot the XC the other day at my local range and it felt like I was cheating. I wish I could shoot a TRS Comp before making a final decision. The money I can save getting the XC over the TRS Comp can go towards optic, x300 turbo, holster, Modern Samurai red dot class and have money to spare.
I own both, the finish and edges r better on the trs. However performance wise i shoot slightly better with the xc. Get the xc, x300, dpp, and holster. U won't regret it
@Gabriel Collazo I keep hearing the fit and finish on the TRS Comps are better and they should be for the difference in price but then again, who cares about the fit and finish if it can't outperform a less expensive gun right? For the TRS Comp $, I would rather go with the Erebus from Altas.
No Atlas Artemis?
Finally !!! I like your channel but you kinda talk down the staccato XC in my opinion. You finally gave it some props. It’s ok to like what you like but when you say the XC is a good 3200 gun but say nothing about the 5-7 k guns value or cost it just felt like you had a bias against staccato. Again , like your content , but noticed some bias. ✌🏻
Appreciate the feedback. I do not believe the Stacatto’s are priced proportionally to what you get. In regards to features and parts. Once you get to the 5500+ mark. Those guns often have options, finishes, cuts grip modules etc. So I try not to get too deep on price because it can vary. But you make a solid observation. That I can definitely work on with all my reviews. Thank you.
Jeff
great video exactly what i needed. Thanks rdr gear for the video!
Nighthawk custom is the best.😁😆
I have a few guns but my go to is my xc. When I go to the shooting range that’s my baby everything is just flawless and I love it when I put target at 25-50 yards to warm up it just hits were I point red dot and the people around just start wondering how I get back on target so quick and stay consistent
people commenting bad things about the staccato its because they are to broke to buy one just haters lol
@@HectorRivera-dj1oh I own the stacatto XC in this review. People who buy Stacattos. Don’t want to cough up the going for real custom 2011’s. Stacattos are the glocks of the 2011 space. The 2011 for beginners.
Being that 2011s are flat as fuuu already - You should do a short and have Crispy get some slow mo shots of comp'd vs some do not have a comp. I can't imagine seeing/feeling the benefit of a comp'd gun - but easily could be just my experience level. The more I see the XC and handle it, the more I am liking the thought of having one as an option for range/training class 2011. I thought your points on cadence and distance were great points! Another great video guys - a completely diff angle and discussion here.👏
In shoot them both equally. How a pistol is sprung makes a huge difference. Look at the staccato P duo review. That’s a non comp gun. The muzzle rise difference is not worth 2k+
Missing the Atlas Erebus. Heavy like the Nighthawk. I put a stainless Cheely grip on my XC along with an Atlas trigger, thumb safety and a gas pedal. The Atlas still feels better quality, but it moves the XC closer in feel, and it’s faster than the Atlas.
KnightHawk Customs hands down
Loved the comparison, still havent got the oportunity to test the sand viper, can it be compared to the combat master? Regarding NHawk and XC i got on both few rnds already and im in line with your opinion, other 2 guns that i own and i feel can get into the fray are Sti CCC Mpi and The dvc omni, to be honest im not to sure why but the omni to me is the best of them all when i shoot that gun always makes my day...
Awesome comparison, Great Video.
I can't draw any solid conclusions from this somewhat rambling summary. It's sort of like "well, this gun is good but the other guns are good too and any accuracy errors are due to me and not the gun, and they all are cool but some are too expensive, yada yada yada'. A little more structured and focused objective analysis would be helpful. Appreciate the effort but I still don't know which gun would be best for me.
Whats your budget. But what you like, looks cool feels good in the hand and what you can afford.
There are plenty of pistols that are below this price point. That also solid.
I also don’t which gun is the best for you. I don’t think you are going to get that from a YT video. Best of luck with your purchase.

So I just picked up the staccato C2 and I love it. But I have to get it milled for a rmr I am down to either Vulcan machine werks or monsoon tactical. Can you give me some insight on either please?
I have several 2011’s done up by the team at Vulcan. Jermey is a solid dude and they do great work. Having the Stacatto direct milled is a better way to go. Much better fit than the Dawson system. Just trying to figure out which one. I have an Atlas Artemis... But I'd like a faster shooting, faster return to zero gun. I'm looking into these five choices... I'd greatly appreciate your feedback! Thank you!
Loren, if you want shoot me a DM
On Ig or we can talk here.
1. Is there a budget? With 2011’s in general. I feel it’s wise to have one. It will help you in what you look at.
2. Purpose. Example. Are you more a Tactical pistol shooter/student. Do you take classes? Or are you a match shooter. If so, how many matches a month. Uspsa, 2 gun, 3 gun outlaw etc. This will help you determine the style of pistol and what features you may want out the box.
3. Gear, if you got a budget. Add 1k to it. For belt, holster and additional magazines. The 1k will cover you pretty much any direction. And may leave a few bucks for additional mags.
With these 3 questions, I can give you my honest answer, more importantly WHY I am saying what I am saying. And I can give you some alternates. That I have shot but not had the opportunity to review on the channel.

Cant argue with that.
Why dont you put a polymer grip module on the trs? I agree with what you said, I have a trs comp and firehawk ds and would prefer a polymer grip on both. Wonder how they would run with one?
I would think, not well with a ploy frame. I would assume the pistol may not run right due to being lighter. But I’m not a gun smith. So I am not sure.
Nice video. I have the Staccato C2 with the PMM comp, so I'm good in the Staccato family. No. The SV is a different pistol. Very similar styling.
Sand Viper is made by Taran Tactical in California. 6k i believe.

Something not mentioned. If you are buying a COMP gun for 3'gun and you're a John wick fan...LOL...and have deep pockets...buy the TTI Sand Viper. nd you planed to get a SRO RDS anyway....
HOWEVER, if you plan to sue the gun also for "defensive purposes" (e.g. combat, home protection...etc.) and you plan to put a closed emitter RDS like the Holosun 508T or Aimpoint P2....then the Sand Viper is not for you....
What gets me about TTi is how commerical they are....clearly...with their "John Wick LIne" of guns LOL!! How they were the tones who trained Keanu Reeves for John Wick "gunplay"...the character was an "assassin" not a 3-Gun competitor :)) Why they didn't send Keanu to a "combat focused" trainer, ex-SPEC OPS man...shrug.....
TTi---clearly a 3-Gun oriented company intetnonally keeps putting a "combat slant" on his guns...just to keep snagging that wealthy John Wick fanboy....wanting to own "JW's guns" LOL11 ...naming their guns "Combat Master" and "Sand or Pit Master" ...COME ON !! :)) ...but they ARE selling out so...good for them....achieving their objective/"target crowd"...This is the age of the RDS-...whether you're a range -only shooter or use the gun in actual combat (LE, military or agncy operators...)...odd there aren't more "closed emitter RDS" on the market and everyone not providing those mounts...

Being a poor is a choice my man. You are 100% in control of that status. 2 of these pistols are a bit over priced. But no one has a gun to head of consumers. They work hard and spend as they wish. It’s a choice. Some roll with 2011’s others roll with Hi-Points.🤙
I’ve only shot the Stacatto of these three, but I can 100% confirm.. not a rip-off. It’s like saying a Lamborghini is a rip-off. Is it expensive? Hell yes! Is it a joy to shoot and a nice status symbol? Hell yes! It’s also the most expensive pistol I own, but does that make it my favorite? Nope. That will always be the first pistol I bought by myself. Just a standard HK USP.

Don’t be a poor
None because im poor, the sro/deltapoint because im not stupid
ill take a Canik over any of those overpriced shits!!
POOR
Keep that polymer jank outta the 2011 bracket 😂
Lol. I get it not everyone has the ability to shoot or buy one of these pistols. The caniks are great pistols.
@@JKCullens I'm not rich but I still own 2 out of 3 of those guns and I still like the way the rival feels in my hand and shoots! So yeah go fuck yourself!
@@cem19771 if you did you wouldn't take a Canik over them. Take this L. But if you did I'll gladly buy you two more caniks and we'll trade.
Staccato all day, every day!
Not against these guns. The craftsman’s ship and performance longevity is just not there.
@@rdrgear I’ve literally seen Staccatos go 10,000 + rounds with zero issues. They perform amazingly well outta the box. Very reliable, too. The nighthawk is over rated and the price point for a pit or sand viper most cannot budget for.
I can grab 2x staccato P’s and send them to DSC, for the price of 1 pit or sand viper. Unfortunately the guy left out Triarch, which hands down walks the Nighthawk every time. Great vid tho 🫡
@@peybackthis1596 DSC. The gun smith for every first time 2011 owner. I love how all these first time STI pistol owners think they have hit the 2011 jackpot. Then send their guns off to have some cut holes in them just so they look cool. The craftsmanship alone for a nighthawk is why the price is what it is. It’s not large scale production pistol from stock non fitted parts. Everyone was once new to a topic. But when you come off thinking what you know is fact, it’s hard not to laugh. The XC os
Over priced by at a min of 800-1000.
Ps. Glocks can run for over 10k rounds. 10 is just little over 800 rounds a month. 200 rounds per range session.
@@peybackthis1596 Triarc, this tells me a lot about your time on a 2011. Your views will change over time. And hour education will grow. And you will learn what pre-fit gun is and what a custom fitted gun is.
@@rdrgear first time 2011 owner! ? Lol ok
DSC does more than porting, buddy. Also, no one does it quite like Dave. You’re clearly new to modifying guns. Take a seat buddy. The nighthawk is, and always will be overpriced for what is a “top tier 2011”. Period. Stay triggered, and go hit the gym fat fuck.
