I appreciated that sit-down talk at the end & felt it - sometimes you start to feel the load of everything. Keep on keeping on Kevin, we appreciate you and everything you’ve shared with us 🌱💫 BTW, I dont envy your skunk issue (coming from someone with a serious deer dilemma).
Aw man, you're living the dream!
Just need an awesome woman and maybe a dog 😊
I think this Everytime I'm watching him
@@funonvancouverisland that's YOUR dream, not his. what's up with people getting onto others business? tf
@@funonvancouverisland What a heteronormative thing to say. 🙄
The initial comment was giving their perception of the video, and I gave mine. At no point was anyone trying to tell anyone how to live or enjoy their lives, man are people sensitive these days.... To all that are butt hurt , I am sorry 🙄
Enjoy it Kevin! Try not to stress too much, you are loved by many. 🥰
I love these casual-style vlog, and am happy to keep rewatching them :) With what you're saying at the end? As much as I love a new video coming out on homestead, I'd much rather you take the time that you need to take care of yourself, too. Can't pour from an empty cup and all that. Peace to you!
Appreciate it!
You know it's a good day when there's a new Epic Homesteading video! :)
Yuuuup
Totally
I seriously check every day for a new video
I know it will pop up in my feed but it feels good to find a new video
Make a short film with just b-roll and lofi/calm music
The garden is becoming better and better.
I would totally watch the crap outta that...
Dude I was just thinking that.
Love the change in your edit style the last 6-8 months good job Kevin and crew
Appreciate it!
A slice of paradise right there, and it couldn't happen to a better guy! Thank you for sharing your life!!!
There's a Korean side dish that uses those garlic scapes and it's delicious. Super easy to make. I think it's just called Korean stir-fried garlic scape/stem
Looking up!
Braised scapes are delish!
Love the nickname man!! Sending love to you guys from Hawaii!! Im 25, and in recovery Ive found a new passion for planting so Im trying it out! And your channel helps me a tonnn. Thank you guys!!
You bet!
You're doing amazing, Kevin. Always look forward to your posts. Blessing you with less stress and happy, fun and satisfying gardening. 👏🏼
❤️
That 4Runner, im jealous!!
I hear Yukon Gold, and my mouth waters! Big thanks Kevin, since your channel along with Mark from Self Sufficient Me and James Perggionni have now caused my front yard to become a garden. It's a bit of a struggle starting no dig on the ultra cheap, following Charles Dowding's methods, but seeing the plants this season is super exiting and neighbors have been awesome in how we share with one another. Keep on growing, much success to you!
Your garden has come such a long way!!! Beautiful!! As much as we love watching you... YOU and YOUR needs must come first ... we all have times when things spin a bit out of control... if you need to take time to settle, take it.... we'll still be here....
loved the garden tour shots at the end. And so nice to see things growing and thriving. I planted marigolds here in Texas as filler plants just to make my beds looks a little nicer. They have grown enormous and are putting on so many flowers. So happy I learned--from you--the idea of grouping plants together that have the same light/water needs.
Love the different tone of videos here on the homesteading channel! Subscribing to both channels gives me the best of both worlds
As someone new to gardening (looking for a hobby...adulting is hard), you make the learning process so easy and gave me a little confidence to try a few houseplants and a very modest herb garden. My dream is to one day jump into citrus trees!
Thanks for being wholesome content, and inspiring your community with positivity!
Mr Kevin, we love you and what you do. You have a lot going on. You’ve taught and inspired us so much. Take some time for yourself. You can’t take off others if you don’t take care of yourself first.
Your outlook doesn't show stress. You actually seem to be at peace.
Pots Pots Pots Pots Pots

Pots, everybody
If people don’t say this to the beat....they’re lame
Love this! Needed a 'shot' of pots! 😅😂😁
You've done such an amazing job transforming the yard into a real garden!! It's a process & only gets better with time! Don't forget to stop & enjoy your garden when you are feeling stressed over the business end of things ... the garden is my happy place :o) I bless you Kevin! Laura -
Don’t stress too much, dude! We’re not going anywhere, take your time 😊
Germit = Garden Hermit!!!
You get a pot, you get a pot, everyone gets pots! So satisfying to see the Epic Homestead grow!
This is why I have huge respect for Kevin. He follows through and the way he explains is very easy to understand even complicated things
😭💯
this yard has changed so much in 1 year
Oh garlic scapes are delicious, chopped, stir-fried with olive oil, onions, peas, whatever you’d like to add.
I think you have changed lives as well. Thank you for all you do
Wow you really adding so many varieties of plants, trees, bushes, veggies fruits what a dream of place, is gonna be amazing 💚
Hang in there. You bring a lot of joy to many.
You make a great Epic Homesteading team, Kevin and Jacques! 👍
Look at how much you have accomplished in such a short time! No wonder you're stressed, that's A LOT of work! I dont think any of us would begrudge you some time off. You deserve it!
I'll try!
That loquat tree is next level!
The Epic Homestead is looking fantastic! What a transformation in such a short period of time. Definitely take the time to enjoy it. :)
Just looked it up and planter paradise is only 10 minutes away from my new place! I feel like Oprah cause all my house plants are about to get BRAND NEW POTS!!!!
My husband grew up with a loquat. I was just able to get him one and my teenage son planted it. I have been paying him to plant my bushes and trees. I’m excited because he’s actually learning how to plant things and use fertilizer and proper watering. He wasn’t interested in planting, just earning the money. I’m hoping this will pay off in the future if he ever develops a desire to garden.
We've had a super late spring. It was snowing last weekend. Still a little chilly at night, but I think I'm going to have to trust that I will get some good crops yet this year! You are an inspiration!
In Germany, too. It was the coldest April in living memory. Unreal to see Kevin's thriving garden when everything only starts to grow here. :O
Costco has nice pots, and nice new fence!! Can’t wait to hear all about that! I think it’s okay to share your behind the scenes with us, we want to know and see! This community adores you. We are here for you, too! Wish we could help with the stress
❤️
I have a small garlic patch (maybe 20 bulbs) I planted about 3-4 years ago. Each year they produce scapes. We only harvest the scapes and leave the bulbs in yhr ground. They're really nice to eat and its a great early summer treat each year.
Garlic scapes makes a bomb pesto. Hot water blanch, cool, blend/emulsify with parmesan, oil, salt, red pepper flake, and any kind of nut or seed.
I wish you could see our garden that you inspired - we live in the Blue Ridge Mountains in a house that has a second story deck on three sides. I started following you months ago and we now have an endless container garden that is full of future food. We love you - keep doing what you’re doing. Grateful.
So happy to hear this
You and your team are appreciated!! You bring the calm to my space all the way in Texas!
Beautiful space to spend some stress relief
This is the type of stuff I hope to accomplish when I have my own property 👏🏽 I can only dream of having a garden this nice!
I've been debating on getting blueberries again (managed to kill em last time), seeing yours thrive is making me want to try again 🤣
We are thankful for you too!
I grew up sitting in my granny moms garden in Denver eating peas right off the plant. Moving back to Denver in a month in hopes of buying a home and growing my own! Wish me well!
It is looking better each day!😍🌱🌳
Eric all of the hard work is paying off 🤠, and the new house/garden is amazing
🤎
Looks fantastic Kevin! And Loquats... one summer my boyfriend and I harvested a five gal. bucket full and started prepping them in front of the TV binge watching "Breaking Bad" OMG our hands were dark brown (should have worn gloves...) but we had loquats in the freezer, dehydrated, made in to bars, breads, cookies, jams... and of course ate fresh... it was loquat heaven... our friends asked... what is a loquat... WHAT???
It’s amazing how much you’ve accomplished so so fast
Buddha’s hand is good for lemonade mix the peels and sugar together for at least 4 hours preferably overnight
Thank you Kevin. My wife and I really appreciate your time and sharing your knowledge with us.
After letting my snap peas form larger peas I've decided to let them all do that. They were pure candy.
A little bit of this, a little bit of that. Love it all🌱🌞
It’s indeed been a slightly tougher few weeks here too, and I’m so glad for your reminder to take time off to destress in the places we enjoy. Thankful we have our gardens to rest in. 🌻 Thanks for your honest sharing Kevin!
Thank you too for all your inspirational videos!
It's all looking so amazing, Kevin 👍🌿🍃💙🤎💚🌍🌱
I'm sorry you're stressed. I hope all the behind the scenes stuff resolves quickly and you have a relaxing weekend! The garden is looking epic!
Can't wait for the garlic pulls
I can't believe you just busted out with a Buddha hand. Well go big or something else 😉 I thought you were going to say a Meyer 🍋 I mean those are good too. 🧘 WOW 🌹✨
It makes me happy to see how much you are achieving.
Youve never had garlic scapes?? Oh my goodness you’re in for a treat. My favorite thing to do with them is make them into a compound butter. AMAZING with potatoes. Good with anything else too. 😆
your eyes are so dreamy in that evening light 🥰
Thank you :)
I highly recommend making garlic scape pesto. I make it every spring. It freezes beautifully. Love the channel. Thank you!
Sounds great!
Oh wow I missed that part, congratulations I love your new car, I can not wait to do our garden, thank you so much again!! Oh when I first move in my house there were huge sunflowers like 4ft tall, so I hope my soil is great here near fort tehjon, ok have a great weekened, also I want to thank you guys so much because teaching and sharing your videos always they make me happy to watch, thank you for making the world and our planet a happier more fun place to live, this is so important for our lives to grow our own food and gardens and it is so much fun and interesting, I can not thank you enough
Look how happy that buddha's hand looks after you transplanted it. 🥰
:)
Good job Kevin and Jacques!
Love watching your vlogs - I'm always learning stuff, and it's a joy - truly - to see how much your new Homestead has changed… Which would only occur with a huge amount of hard work and effort. Don't forget to have that beer whilst your soaking up the last of the sun and mellowing out in your slice of paradise!!
New video from Kevin?! Perfect way to chill after work on a Friday 😍 thank you for sharing your labor of love with us all!
Buddhas hand infused vodka is the way to go with that little guy 🍸☀️
Would love to see a video about all the hardware and tools you use. i.e. Your hose, and sprayer, pruners, etc. Love the content !
Quats were a on-the-way-to-school and coming-home snack for majority of my highschool years thanks to the house on the corner of my block.
The space is looking amazing!
Wow! Slowly catching up with your post, ❤️learning and seeing you guys hard work blossom.
I have to hunt down that fruit. I was lucky to have grown up in the tropical and tasted so many fruit that some names I can’t remember but remember eating them and happy to see some in the US.
A buddha's hand, I'm so jealous!
I enjoy your videos & I’ve learned so much! I garden central TX zone 8B. Take your time & when you can recharge we will be here. Thank you Kevin.
It is looking beautiful. 🌿
They are so beautiful now 😍😍 im so happy for you mate 😊🙏🏼
ah! I miss Loquats , so good
Wow! The new fence looks awesome! How’d I miss that going in? Well done, friend!!
Vid coming!
Finger lime, what a great choice you have of citrus. I have tasted them at a friend's place and they will be the next on my list and hope to get a few different colours. We are so lucky to have these in Australia and what a fantastic citrus. Good luck and hope it grows super well for you
Nice to see you growing Aussie fingerlimes. They do well with regular fertilising, but in much smaller quantities than you would normally give other citrus varieties. Our Australian native plants don't like too much heavy fertiliser, in particular too much phosophorus can be deadly for many of our native species. Good luck with the fingerlime!
I planted sweet peas for the beehive we had
I dont know but i love seeing you farming with asisstant
Your long neck garlic looks great! had no idea that grew so well in so cal
Easy DIY trap for an earwig infestation: bowls of oil.
Place ceramic bowls of vegetable oil in the shades of your garden and the earwigs will climb in, needing to be filtered through a sieve into another bowl every few days. I've had an overrun of earwigs that made my wife all but swear off growing any cluster typed vegetable (broccoli, cauliflower, etc) and the bowls have been doing their gross duty of keeping my plants less bitten.
Try lining a pot of water with lettuce leaves. Salt as you would and put in your peas to boil. The peas will come out soooo sweet! Found the idea in a French cookbook and it really works. Don’t eat the lettuce leaves. Just throw those in the compost.
Yum! Will try
It wouldent be an Epic homestead without an Epic owner 😁 just had all my exams and for my little breaks nothing was more relaxing then watching your videos! Thank you for all your knowledge sharing and showing your learning process too!!
Blessings, julie
That loquat is amazing!
If you get a bunch of loquats growing in your yard from all those seeds, you should pot up a few strong contenders and gift them to friends/family or sell a few. Just an idea, because I would 100% buy one from you.
I bought potatoes from Wood Prairie Farm this year. Mine are still growing here.
I cannot believe how far you have come with your garden! Everything is weeded/mulched/cultivated - awesome job!
Kevin, hope you’ve put in an anti-siphon on the hose bib where you put the fertilator. The idea being you don’t want the fertilizer going back into your water system. Great video.
Backflow preventer on!
Congrats on the new truck. I have been eyeing that vehicle as well
I appreciate you too, I have learned a lot from you
Super envious of you right now!! We are just heading into winter here in AUS, some advice on your finger lime, make sure it gets some shade. They typically don't like full blaring sun as they are semi understory plants. For anyone looking to purchase them, best to get grafted varieties as if grown by seed they can take years to fruit!
Happened to pick up some pots at Grocery Outlet in San Diego!
They frequently have some excellent prices on glazed terracotta, I have noticed!
Nice find!
Awesome vid. Loquats. I grew up with a tree in my yard, central FL. We called them Japanese plums. They ARE delicious.
