  • Low - lying placentas is when the placenta is attached to the lower segment of your uterus. In 90% of these, as the uterus grows, the placenta moves up.
    The other 10% will be advised a caesarean birth. The risk being here that if you had a vaginal birth, your placenta would be born prior to labour or start to detach from the uterus before baby is born. Both of these would be an emergency for both you and for baby. The risk of this depends on how close your placenta is to your cervix. It can be completely covering your cervix to partially covering to close to your cervix but not covering.
    If your placenta is low lying at an early scan I would prepare for your birth as normal. So learn about both vaginal births and caesarean births ❤️
