- Chad Gray from Mudvayne is on Talkin’ Rock as they tour on their Psychotherapy Sessions tour.
He talked about touring with Zombie last year as kind of a “feeling out” to see what could happen with the band. He talked about all the places in the world he’d like to hit on this tour. He told me about playing some different songs on this tour, that they hadn’t played before. As far as their cover of the Police song “King Of Pain”, don’t expect them to be doing that one any time soon. “It just did not sound good….it sounds wonky” He explained that whole thing about the tuning of the song.
It was really interesting talking about a conversation he had with the late Vinnie Paul, about how big Pantera was even though they hadn’t played in a very long time. Chad said there’s all sorts of fans seeing Mudvayne for the first time. From very young kids to “old guys like us.”
There’s a lot of music talk with Chad, although he says he doesn’t listen to much new music, he said he has his staples. “I just don’t go searching for new music.” He mentioned how music takes him back many year like a “Sonic Fountain Of Youth”. Great line!
What made Pantera so good? He talked about how they wrote songs. “Those MFers played to the song.” He spoke to writing with V.P. during his time in Hell Yeah.
He talked to meeting one of his heroes, James Hetfield of Metallica. He went on and on about what a treasure James is, and a little secret he gave him to help his performance as far as singing goes.
All and all, a great conversation with Chad. Loved talking to him, as always. - Zábava
Such a gifted metal vocalist with a tremendously talented band behind him. That band is Mudvayne. I like Hellyeah but I Love Mudvayne.
Always loved Mudvayne. I remember the first time I heard "Dig" I was blown away. A truly unique brand of metal.
Fantastic band the range of Chad is amazing
Loved this interview. Thank you
First album I purchased was a cd from Metallica named "Load". Worked my ass off to earn the money because I loved The Memory Remains. RIght near the end of the interview Chad said the bit about meeting your heroes. I did meet my hero and not only did I get to meet him but got to hold him up last year. That hero? Chad fucking Gray and a photo was taken of that moment that I got from a photographer. I'll never forget that. Got it made to hang on my wall at the house.
So dope hearing Chad talk Metallica. These guys are so awesome. My son's first legit concert the other day in Ridgefield. He's 4. Next time Mudvayne comes through we'll be in GA hoping for my boy to get a shout out from Chad. 🤘😎
Always Mudvayne, hell yeah!,i never forget the Mudvayne show I Saw @ the Roundhouse in Sydney in 2005,all time highlight of the live band experience, they killed that night,I've seen them a few other times in Sydney, always great, but that night was really special @ the roundhouse.
I was one of the people who never got to see them fan since dig hit MTV2 I'm 31 now ... First time seeing them was ink 2021 last year with zombie and last night only 3 times seeing mudvayne
I love chad and mudvayne so very much 🤘
La sua voce è così attraente.........🖤
Just saw mudvayne in Chicago at Tinley Park
Seen them in Scranton the other day! They rocked the place!!!! Chad was kind to me abd even hooked me up with a backstage pass and i got to hang with him and shoot the shit for about 30 mins. Really awesome guy! Like he said, we all needed this tour! I didnt know how much i needed it personally. Had those post concert blues afterwards lol. Glad they're back and i hope they never stop kicking ass!
Why is my van not touring in Canada since they got back together?
Show was pretty good. Raining like crazy.. I noticed he talked a little too much and they could have played Cradle or something.
his take on James Hetfield being the Godfather of metal is an absolute whiff and embarrassing. i mean he never heard of Black Sabbath? who influenced James? Tony iommi is the lord of the riff.
His comments have evoked , not a debate, but a strong rebuke from the metal community
Facts
He has to look st the underground shit not the lamestresm mainstream shit
Nu metal og he is
He is sleeping on the new nu metal nu metalcore revival bands today
Tallah is one that comes to mind, they're unreal.
@@DescendingBlade they're nu metal Nu metalcore or both and what's the styles in it far as they having hip hop hip hop rock hip hop metal thrash metal progressive metal hip hop hardcore punk alternative metal alternative hip hop grunge groove metal in their nu metal ?
James hetfield is not a the metal godfather
Bad take on new bands. If you don’t embrace the new blood and take them out, it hurts the genre. I love all the bands on tour with you but there’s a lot of good new bands I would’ve rather seen flourish
Facts but his generation is fucked up along with the millennials boomers especially the silent generation too
He's right - new bands suck for a few exceptions.
@@sweepingdenial that’s not true, people just don’t search for them
Marylin Manson is not nu metal
He's not, but it was new.
I really hope Chad is doing ok. I feel like the loss of Vince had a big impact on him.
CHarging Fans to hear my BACKtracks has been "Very THearpeutic",,,🤢🙄🥱🥱🥱🙄
