This was apparently first available in October 2012. I must've got it close to that launch date when I was still in the UK. I upgraded to a smart watch about 3 years ago, and this has been sitting in a basket gathering dust, until I found it just now. It is just 2 minutes off of the correct time, and still functional on it's first (pre-installed) battery. Amazing quality for its price point.

I have this modified with most of writing removed and a yellow filter. Recently bought the gold/ bronze coloured one with rubber strap. Love them.

Get the metal one and put on a brown leather strap...really nice steam punk/smart look. It's easy to fit any 24mm leather strap, just use a razor blade to cut mini squares out at the spring bar hole.

He means to say the one with the metal bracelet as in the one in the video, rather than the ones with a resin strap. This bracelet one has a resin case but with a metallic colouring.
I just received mine today. I was feeling very nostalgic and wanted to have a Casio and I am very pleased with my choice. So much so that I decided, I’m gonna get the Michael J. Fox one back to the future and Sigourney Weaver from aliens.
How is it so far? Any cons?
@@moens404 nope I love it. I did get the one that’s the corny Weaver wore during aliens spent 70 bucks on it when I got it. I was like it’s so light I hardly ever wear it because the class always falls off.🤦🏽♀️

I absolutely love this watch and especially the bracelet. Okay, its folded, but that's for me the charme of this vintage style watch. And its very comfortable and at least in my case no hair pinching at all.

Is the main glass in reality plastic in this watch?
I do believe the screen in this watch is just plastic ..However, it seems very tough and will be able to resist scratches well. @@lah0je9t-jb6nf

the Casio AE1200 is a great watch, I have two, one black and one silver and I wore them to death for a few years and both watches went through everyday wear and tear and still look good.
The style defo looks a tad geeky but I really love that especially as it also looks stylish

I got mine 6 years ago (ae-1000w) sat behind my couch for 3 years, I had mark time on so I heard the double beep every hour. Once I finally found it and it was only 3 minutes off

I have black resin one, with gold.ish display. The straps suddenly disintegrated after 4 years. Got identical straps but blue color. I hope they will last similar time. If not, I will buy a whole watch next time instead of straps replacement.
Hint: If you buy black resin one (not coated) you will not see scratches nor wear and tear on that coating. Mine looks great after 4 years with new blue straps.

I used it more than 7 years and still running but there is a black area in the middle of the screen but still counting the time 😅 casio fan❤

This is the best world traveller watch, I know lots of executives that could have an expensive watch that use this when they travel and for every day work, particularly engineers, architects and in the luxury car industry
Had mine since June 2017. Never missed a beat. My only beef with it is the cheap build.

I just wish the analog part of the watch had real hour, minute, and seconds hands , other than that excellent watch . Casio should actually revive this watch and offer it with titanium case and sapphire glass. Heck I’ll buy it 😊

@@educatin7559 I think it could be alright if you screen printed matching reversed legends, but the map part is probably never gonna look as good as it does unreversed. Just reversing the bottom digital readout would probably look good, and I don't think there's any technical restriction that prevents it, other than fiddly cutting up and hand placing polarizers.
It has a very loud alarm louder than most watches it's got a neat little world map dual time five alarms stopwatch you can even change the alarm going off once a day or everyday but I must say this watch has the loudest alarm of any watch I've owned I have owned many Casio watches the really expensive ones you can't hardly hear the alarm I have owned Armitron from cheap watches to the expensive Casio watch but this watch is really a good watch for the money Casio is good at making watches but I would not buy an expensive Casio because the complex watches are likely to break down leaving you're stuck with a broken watch and no warranty from Casio so I advise you not to spend more than $30 on a watch

Wait until you see the AE-2000W. Same functions but a mineral crystal, a stainless steel insert instead of painted plastic and 200m WR rating.

Coolness is subjective, I think the AE-2100W looks better than the Royale but sadly 48 mm diameter is much too big for my wrist.

Is the crystal glass or resin ? Getting conflicting info even on Casio's own website. I see scratch marks on your crystal here .

I like the watch, but mine got some water spots on the inside of the glass after i took a bath with it on.
It's super easy to take apart and clean! Unscrew the caseback and you will be able to give it a good clean :)

It's one of them watches that once you get it, you simply cannot part with it. Absolutely love mine. You can probably tell by how many scratches are on mine.
I think the A500W is better, more refined.
I got one with crocodile straps(special made)and everybody who dont know the watch thinks its a 10000$ watch

Google: The number of time zones in the world is surprisingly high at 38, instead of the 24 that we would have if we kept things simple with just 24 zones, 1 for each of the 24 hours in a day. But many countries wanted offset times (for 30 or 45 minutes) and/or wanted to circumvent the International Date Line.
Why is the one you are showing so scratched ?

I have a silver AE-1200WH with metal band, and I would not call it the greatest watch. The screen scratches easily, and it's not atomic synced nor solar powered, and it's no more accurate than any quartz watch... i.e., it loses about 10 seconds a month. The greatest watch IMHO, of which I have two of them, is the PAW-1500 ABC watch. It's not perfect, but if you buy the metal band version, you can buy it once, and never buy another watch again for the rest of your life. Considering I've been through a ton of watches, that's saying a lot. I would give away my AE-1200WH as superfluous, but not my PAWs. Really though, Alexa and Smart Phones have made clocks and watches... obsolete. Get yourself at least one Alexa and a Smart Phones, both of which are time synced to the network, and be done with watches. I use Alexa to tell me the time 50x more than I look at a wristwatch.
That's why this watch is not just for telling time. And besides, where's the style with an Alexa.
you haven't checked the Casio A500, it may be better than this one.
