  • Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure and NHL player Valeri Bure have been married since 1996. That’s over two decades spent in holy matrimony. What’s more, on the surface their marriage seems absolutely idyllic, with no affairs, no fights or temporary splits. In fact, no crises of any kind.

      You're so right Claudia! Now a days, marriage seems to be the thing to do until it gets really difficult. Then it's divorce. Chris Pratt and Anna Faris were married and he claims to be Christian. Before they divorced, I believed there was still a way to change things for the better, but unfortunately it didn't work out for them. Continued blessings & focus on Jesus for Candace and Valeri Bure's marriage!

    What is wrong with people? A successful marriage of 20+ years in Hollywood & they pick on the Christian marriage instead of questioning the ones who've been married 5 times by the time they're 40? C'mon... God bless her & her family, her marriage... as long as Christ is the center, their marriage will succeed another 20+ years and more! (boy that should really get Hollywood talking then).

    What nobody talks about is the OTHER HALF of instructions on marriage:the instructions to husbands- to love their wives as Christ loved the church so much that He DIED ON THE CROSS for her! That is a LOT of love! To honor her and treat her right. If a husband behaves like that, it’s very easy for a wife to “submit” and let him lead. It’s in Ephesians 5. And I think I peter also mentions requirements for husbands along with those for wives.

      Claudia F. Well Claudia, I have been married to my husband for thirty three years, had three children with him, have six grandchildren, my father was a Baptist minister, who NEVER expected my mother to submit to him or anyone else. And my mother was a "good Christian" wife, worked in the church office, was a stay at home mom, taught us how to be respectful, but she also instructed us that respect was EARNED not OWED. So, by your standards of practice, I'm entitled to criticize here all day long. I don't judge Candice for her philosophy for a happy marriage, but I find it insulting that people think this is what it would take to have a successful marriage and criticize those who speak against her choice. Intolerance feeds hate and we don't need anymore of that in our world. Peace out.

      Debbie Prokop Even so from what you have written you mother was also submissive just because she doesn't correspond to the modern type of women. You see the modern type is empowered, is as strong as a man, cares very much about her career, her independence and the chilldren are an option that can be very easely left to a nanny.

    • @debbieprokop912
      @debbieprokop912 Před 6 lety +2

      elenabob; My mother was a produce of an era where women DID submit to their husbands. But she was on the cusp of it's change and appreciated what it could do to her girls. Just because she was a stay at home mother didn't make her less empowered or "modern". She always instructed her girls to know themselves and their strengths and never let anyone take that away, and never let anyone make choices for us! I was a stay at home mother, her example, but I'm also an empowered woman, it was MY choice to not work outside of the home, not my husbands choice. My mother's "career" was raising intelligent and compassionate people, which didn't make her less "empowered" of an individual than one who worked outside of the home. We're here talking about someone who stated the secret to their successful marriage was to submit to their husband because of his "leadership", which I disagreed with, and used my personal life experience to justify why. It was not meant to start an argument on whether or not my mother was submissive, empowered or modern. You have a great day now. Peace out.

      Debbie Prokop I think whatever makes someone successful and happy in their long committed relationship is fine and should be left up to God and only God. God is too big of a job for us. All happily married couples can do is be an example for their children and other observers. I have been married 24 wonderful years. I agree with Candace. My husband is the head of our household and I generally submit to what he wants, but he must do his part and love me as Christ loved the Church, love and protect me more than his own body. That is just the way my happy marriage is. I would never disparage another person's views on their happy marriage. You have to do what works for you. My husband and I have no children. Maybe that played a part in our happiness. LOL. There is more than one way to do things successfully.

    • @claudiaf.2236

      Dear Debbie, fact is that broken marriages have an immense negative impact on society and the percentage of divorce in non christan families is even higher - at least here in Europe. So everybody who found a solution to stay together and be more or less happy - is a success. Mrs. Bure has found her solution. Now I do not get why you as a Christian are against this. I myself find the advice of the bible to respect the husband and the husband to love his wife a very helpful advice. I agree with you that the word submission is a bit strong, and we do not practice this in our marriage. But if a couple likes this, why not? I found especially for dominant, strong willed women it helps to get a well balanced marriage.

    As a Christian, I am submissive to my husband as the head of the house. Being submissive does NOT mean being a doormat! All decisions made in my household are discussed between me and my husband. He never makes any decision without my input. Sometimes I agree with him and sometimes I don't, but we always discuss it first. There are many times where I convince him that my views are more practical than his. Being submissive means showing respect to your husband. That passage of scripture goes on to say that a husband must love his wife as Christ loves the church and any man who has that much love for his wife will always respect her as well.

    I find nothing wrong with her attributing her faith to the success of her marriage. I mean, hello people, a 20+ year relationship is a winning one no matter how you look at it and never, ever is it easy. All kinds of relationships call for give and take. So what if this is their way of finding compromise, so what if she used the word submissive, so what? It means something to them and their religion that they are obviously passionate about. If you want a no-marriage open relationship with the Eiffel tower and your aunt Doreen and call it your perfect no-religion space, I don't care. Christian-phobia is ridiculous and completely hypocritical and INTOLERANT.

      A 20 year marriage can be miserable. I can assure of this. I’ve only been married for 12 years but I know a couple of people in my life that were miserable for over 40 years but duty as a supporter and a nurturer kept them bound to their unions. I know of a man who, a year before he died, said he wished he had never needed that bag of sugar. I knew him well and knew exactly what he meant without any further explanation. He had met his wife over 40 years prior when he went to the General Store in town to pick up a bag of sugar and left the store having met his future wife behind the cash register. Poor soul. He loved his children so much though that he put up with all the unhappiness and abuse from his wife until he died. I can’t help but think, that aside from the joy he got from his children and their children, he died a very sad and downtrodden life.

    I have been married for 41 years and what this woman has written is the best advice any one could ever hear. The number one thing in a relationship is honesty and yeas there has to be one strong leader in the marriage. If you find yourself in love with a good honest person it is easier to allow them to be placed up high on their pedistol and it doesnt mean they are the best in the relationship or smarter it just means that you are very lucky that you have found someone who to you is the best. I am not a practicing Christian and my husband was certainly far from it when we married but we do believe in God and most importantly we believe in each other....he is my equalizer my hero my eveerythin. I have never made a decision on anything without either just knowing how he would feel about something or just sitting down and discussing it with him. Everything I do has his feelings attached.

    To be truly submissive to your husband is not to make yourself his doormat; it is to quietly support your husband, encourage him, love him and trust him to return your affections. You submit to accepting his decision at the end, but this does not mean that it has to be accepted without discussion. In a strong Christian marriage, the husband may be the one to close the deal, but he does so only after careful and prayerful negotiations with his loving partner.

Submission is a difficult concept for many, but when you understand God’s intent for you to have a loving strong relationship it does make sense. For me, I always got to share my thoughts and participate in making decisions with both my husbands. (One died suddenly of a heart attack) A smart man recognizes that they do much better when they value and listen to their wives’ point of view. It’s a team effort. Every now and again after discussion and consideration one person may have to make the final decision. I was able to let my husband decide. I didn’t fight over this. Harmony is sweet.

      Jealousy - envy - 2 of those things that God warns us against. If we are jealous or envious of something someone else has, it's because we're not happy with what we have. They don't realize that everything they have (even if they don't like it) is from God, too. And that He loves them even if they don't even think He's real. Imagine how sad that must make Jesus....?

      Melanie, I don't think anyone threw a wrench into her relationship. People are nasty online, period. Christians can be the worst offenders sometimes. If anything, judging by the commentary, the video served to rile evangelicals up into diatribes about liberals, atheists, and anyone who doesn't agree with them.

    • @realjaidblack
      @realjaidblack Před 6 lety

      Nick, that's kind of a big stretch. I am all for Bure and everyone else living their lives as they wish to. Finding submission creepy isn't jealousy; it's just finding submission creepy. I can't work up an emotion like jealousy over something I find disturbing. I also find bestiality disturbing and can assure you I feel a lot of emotions about people who engage in it, but jealousy isn't one of them. If Bure can't handle ordinary criticism then she shouldn't put her business out there and invite commentary, but I'm sure she can handle it just fine. On the off chance she can't? That means she wants everyone to view her lifestyle choice as healthy and valid... which is highly ironic seeing as how evangelicals won't even consider validating anyone else's lifestyle choices as equally healthy and valid.

    Wow it's really encouraging to find a woman who understands the Bible and a woman's role in this world today. She is right in the way she has explained it. God made women strong and gave us everything we need so that we can help a man be all that he can be. What people miss is that a man needs a strong woman to be all that God wants him to be. In marriage a man and woman are one. If one fails the other one is there to lift the other up. It is not to point a finger about how the other has done wrong but to help the other one get back on the right track. Love is the key. Read 1Corinthians 13:4-8. Marriages today don't last because both persons are selfish and don't understand the meaning of the word charity(love) as God has defined it. May God continue to bless them.❤️❤️

    Submission in the Christ centered relationship is not the same as it is in-definition of the secular worldly sense.Christ is part of the relationship. Through being “submissive” is to respect the husband and his role as a husband. God holds the man totally responsible for the decisions and lifestyle of the family as the woman is under the spiritual covering of the husband. It’s all good. 👍

Look at Candice's marriage. 20 years strong. Good for them. My wife is an old fashioned kind of girl and we will celebrate our 30th year tomorrow on the 13th. I didnt purposely go looking for an old fashioned girl to marry but you can't help
    who you fall in love with and it's been great. I'm just amazed that when a woman tells people her husband is in charge, it causes controversy. What works for some doesn't always work for others. The longevity of the more "traditional role" marriages proves that itnaint a bad thing at all. So why the controversy ?

Maybe you should actually do some research before choosing to pulls facts out of nowhere to support your own agenda. Why would Liberal people glorify broken homes? Do you perhaps mean that liberal people tend to show more inclusivity for ALL families? Would you preffer a woman stays in a relationship with an abusive husband instead of divorcing him? should we exclude divorced couples and children from any form of media?

It is Not a judgement. There’s no claim that anyone is right or wrong. It’s just a reminder to All of us, myself included, of how Quickly our judging ego can pull us out of our Loving, Sacred Heart... which only keeps Peace on Earth a distant dream rather than a Now REAL-ity. And I feel safe in saying that Candice would agree. She’s an amazing woman who lives in her Integrity, & a role model for all girls & women in that respect.
      billion 8, you just criticized Khloe, then judged her for how She’s living/ what She’s choosing to say, insinuating that she’s “wrong” & your view is “right” (both terms being merely ego personality constructs, as there is No right or wrong/ good or bad in God’s Eyes). And, you topped it off with the fact that the headlines regarding her child’s dad- those same ‘newsworthy events’ that most of society drools over (or they Wouldn’t even give them a 2nd notice), are becoming a source of annoyance to you. In other words, what you’re really claiming is that Her behavior/ actions are ‘causing you’ to Leave your heart-centeredness & Peace, where you may/might be living in the Love Of God- ‘Blaming them for pulling you back into your ego personality of judgment, separation, blame & condemnation (where it’s always Our Choice as to where we place our focus).
      The whole “People in glass houses..” moral is what’s going on, not in just your mind.. in the above comment, but in the minds of millions of others who continue to unknowingly judge & blame others, then cannot figure out how or why we haven’t yet been able to bring Love & Peace back to this beautiful Gift of a planet we were Given, AS our Garden Of Eden.
      Your very last sentence was So Beautifully stated... So let’s all just hashtag that, then tattoo it into the inside of our eyelids, such that when we next look out upon whatever appears in our own, very Unique reality, we Will See as God Sees & we Will See What God Sees, & finally, We Will See ALL God Sees... which is the Pure Divine Light Of His/Her Creations like Stars lighting up the Cosmos! JUST what Jesus repeated over & over again, right?
