The phrasing is confusing as fuck lol, but I get what he's saying. A better phrasing would be something like "The money you save by doing DIY yourself makes up for the lower wages"

I listened to this years ago and forever wondered why I never heard the parrot story again (despite hearing the guys back reference it multiple times) , well alas I have found you again!!
I think that weirdly Karl's affection to the paper round job is some sort of indication to what is so sweet about him...
I think one day we’ll find that folks like Ricky and Steve who mock the simple things in life are a lot worse off for it. I enjoy all three but I think Karl is probably the most sensible of them. A great irony really.

It's a shame this is Man Moth's 'missing' episode, since it's actually one of the best.
The great thing about the parrots story is that Ricky is really genuinely cracking up. Not over acting and not critical of Karl.

Arun Krishnamurthy yeah I read the news report, the girl had polio, neither doctor said that the parrots blood actually helped but the girl made a recovery. The way Karl tells the stories never helps 😂😂

About Karl's story on throwing the baby out with the bathwater: that actually is a real tradition in either China or Japan (can't recall)
The father bathes first, then the sons in descending order of age, then the Mother, then the daughters in the same order as the sons. All with the same water.
Absolutely mental tradition of course, but it's certainly real.

@@WollongongWacko Only thing I can think of is the long snatch of 'Hold the Line,' but it's not as if most episodes don't have more music. They play the Killing of Georgie in its entirety. But CZcams may have latched on to this intro and kicked it off. These days, CZcams would likely just add it to the description and keep it up.
