In today's video we go over the master set of Pokemon's newest set - Obsidian Flames!
With the release of Scarlet & Violet, Pokemon Pull Rates have seemed to become much easier. No longer do we have chase cards that take over 2000 Pokemon booster packs to open. Instead, it seems that the average Pokemon collector is able to open up a couple of booster box cases and achieve the majority of their master set. Is Pokemon Obsidian Flames going to break the streak of positive Pokemon Pull Rates? Let's take a look!

I think it’s a little refreshing to have a smaller set honestly. Gives me time to work on previous sets while new sets are still being revealed
I'm personally thrilled to have a smaller set. Sets like Chilling Reign just burned me out with how many secret rare cards there are.
The smaller set is what people have wanted for a long time as it makes it easier to get your fave card in the set. The fact it was unreachable for most ppl to get the cards they wanted without paying insane prices on tcgplayer has been a problem for too long. Hope this continues.

Really interesting to see a smaller set at this point. But definitely welcomed. Especially since sets are sooo frequent. Wouldn’t mind this format moving forward, but idk if that will happen
I opened 7 booster boxes and am only missing 3 cards for a complete set. Definitely refreshing to have a set thats easier to complete.
7? Just open 2 and buy the singles. 10x cheaper. Save money for booster boxes in next set.

Some great shouts there Jake! I was laughing so hard when you suggested the Sudowoodoo, I mean empty street 😂but I love lucario and riolu, so that was a winner. In also a huge fan of the prism star cards and amazing rares.
Ive been buying two Booster Bundles with each new release and did land the alt art Charizard on my 7th pack! I've been impressed with those booster bundles. Good video!
I haven't opened up a booster box yet, but my booster bundle was a dud! I like the art for some of the cards.... Thank you for your content!
I absolutely love Vault X binders. They have done one of these special binders for every set since Brilliant Stars and I've gotten all of them. Adore them, such high quality.
Agreed, but too bad the SV3 binder won't ship until September according to their website. Hopefully they can start timing these binder releases for their corresponding set release date.
@@bballlakerman Agreed, I wish they actually released/shipped on or closer to release date. Definitely my biggest gripe with them. I think the wait is worth it, though.

First crack at it, really loved the Pidgey and Cleffa pulls I got. Absol FA has a great look to it as well. The purple really pops. Cool set. I really dislike Revavroom though and I pulled two of them LOL.

I’m glad it’s easier, I miss the days of 60 - 100 card master sets, didn’t seem like such a monster effort to be a part of the hobby

if you want to invest in OS singles just note that zard ex (all versions) is likely going to be a very competitive card in the tcg.

Great review of the new set :)) I've said it elsewhere but the English (and French as I buy mostly French) is full of fillers compared to the Japanese set and we could have done without them! Especially since these are Ex cards 😢 I went for Japanese on this set and it's definitely harder to complete it than the Western version.
Let's see how they come up with 151 now 😅 Would love to win that box so hey here's my participation ahah!!
Loving the Le Chonk cards... i just think 151 was way to hyped that this set got overlooked
I opened up two booster boxes and saw similar results. One of them had 11 hits vs 12 in the other. What I found interesting is no double hit packs. I wonder if the other ETBS, booster bundles, or collection boxes will have different make up in those last three slots of the reverse and regular holos. Both boxes had a gold (No charizard though). Two full arts and two illustration rares per box.
I absolutely believe that there is a direct correlation between print quality and the amount of cards, sets, and product they’re flooding the market with.

I agree 100% about the chase for the pidgey evolution cards thats why I want the ruler of the black flame set I don’t really like Tera form cards tho

Hey Danny thanks for the great content God bless!! As far as Obsidian Flames, I think they did rush it to get this out. I believe this is to get the Japanese and English set on the same timeframe going forward and fight the fomo going on in Japan. Thanks again Danny :)
I never did a master set before. Is 1 version of each card good enough, or do I need to get the reverse holos for the C/UC as well?

Smaller set makes me want to open a box and try to get some of my chase cards, but the whole set in general doesn’t excite me as well as paldea evolved. Will likely buy some singles of this set

Sad to see the quality is not so good. I had a few issues with paldea. I pulled the alt art grusha and it was way off center and my gold card energy looked like it was played with

Does this explain the lower allocations? Smaller set, easier to complete, so people will open less? I'm not very excited about OBF. I feel like the art pales in comparison to SV base and Paldea. As always, though, the collecting and pack ripping will be fun. But I'll be ready to move on pretty quickly.

I mean D.A.was the set released before the special set, and now obsidian flames is being released before this year special set, so maybe not rushed but the focus was split between 2 different sets..? Just an honest thought. What were the sets the released before hidden fates, celebrations?
I’d have to look back to be honest. Hidden fates was at the back end of a generation and I think generations was as well. Dragon majesty and shining legends were more at the front of a generation.
I'm currently working on master setting with variants that are soon to come...there's a lot...
I like to pick up a box once price settles, then singles all the way!

I never hear you talk about graded cards!!! Do you grade any of your Pokémon cards or buy or collect?
And what do you think about grading your cards?
As far as competitive goes, the Pidgeot Ex is BROKEN. “Ability Quick Search: Once during your turn, you may search your deck for a card and put it in your hand. Then, shuffle your deck. You can’t use more than 1 Quick Search Ability each turn.”
Mastered it in 1 case and 1 BB. Feel kinda empty inside since there's nothing for me to chase now until 151. I like the cards in the set though!

I love obsidian flame line up but I think there’s not a whole lot other than charizard on that note I think paldea evolved was too big with way too many art rares could of put more in obsidian flame and not so many in paldea evolved
My chase card is Clefa because once you see it with a lightsaber you can never look at it the same way again
I don’t mind the smaller set but i do wish they were better competitive wise.

I got 5x of 3 different holo rare Pokémon in my box.. 5 Entei, 5 Thunderus and 5 Palafin. Thought that was weird

Sometimes I see people selling “Master Sets” that only include one variant, like reverse holos… so, is there a standard for the term “Master Set”? Do I need all variants?

Certainly easier if you’re going through cases, which still shouldn’t be the case, but it’s a step in the right direction making them smaller sets. Would’ve been even smaller if not for the starter deck filler from jp they lumped into this set.
Unfortunately I feel like they’ll be back to super 300+ card sets after this. It’d be great to go back to the sub 100 sets, even 115-130 including secrets, but then we’d end up back with XY pull rates. Can’t win anymore lol

I'm very happy we finally get a "smaller" set, but IMO it's still too big...230 cards that aren't all necessary. If you take away all the double cards (e.g. make only one Paldean Wooper card instead of two; there are alot more pokemon like this) and maybe also take away some pokemon that already have been in Scarlet&Violet Base AND Paldea Evolved, we could have a base of 150-160 cards and then add the SARs/SIRs and Gold cards.
IMO this would make some Pokemon much more valuable as cards than having one card of them in each set.
I love the miscut, I once sold a darkness for 17$ it was so beautiful, the card not the money.

opened up 14 packs and only got pidgeot full art and Ryme full art cant be all like you danny getting all those zards in your first box lol
Tbh this is so much better with the smaller sets. Allows you to buy a case and hit 90% completion or higher. Past sets I've opened 6 booster boxes and not even come close to completing all the ultra and secret rare. Super frustrating.
I'm not sure if Paldea Evolved would fit into a binder like that.
