    Thule Access 9037 2" Swing-Away Hitch Base transforms your bike rack or hitch basket into a swing away allowing ample clearance and easy access for tail gates, rear hatches, and rear mounted spare tires. The Thule Access Swing-Away Hitch Base is compatible with 2" hitches only and holds up to 250 lbs maximum. The Access accepts 2" hitch mounted bike racks and baskets only. Access swings out 90 degrees toward the passenger side of your vehicle and locks in place preventing it from unexpectedly swinging back toward the rear of the vehicle. Note: do not attempt to swing the unit out while parked on a hill. Hitch mounted bike racks with 2" adapters are not compatible with the Thule Access hitch base. The Access is not recommended for towed trailers or RV's. Please check the following fit compatibility chart to ensure this bike rack will work with your particular hitch style - Thule Hitch Rack - Fit Tips Chart.
    Key Features:
    - Swing away feature allows access to the rear hatch or trunk area without removing bikes
    - Locks to the vehicle
    - Compatible with 2" Hitches Only (Class 3 or above)
    - Hitch racks with 2" adapters are not compatible
    - Holds up to 250 lbs max
    - Swings out 90 Degrees

    As far as we know Thule does not make these anymore. It was the best on the market and the highest rated carry weight

    Will you ship overseas to Germany? So far I had no luck to find a local seller which carries this kind of Thule swing arm in Europe

      Unfortunately we only ship within the United States. I know this product has been discontinued here in the U.S very recently, the reason for the search difficulty in Germany may stem from the same circumstance.

    Did you end up drilling a new hole to slide the pin in where the swing away mounts to the vehicles hitch reciever?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 3 lety

      No drilling was preformed while installing this hitch base in our video, and is not required to install the Swing-Away.

      Why does this only work with a bike rack? I have a hitch tray that I need to mount to a swing arm and it will be supporting a toolbox and some other camping gear

    When the bike rack is attached, empty and folded up, what is the distance to the back of the vehicle. I'm trying to figure out if the hatch door on my 2021 Telluride would open with this on the vehicle. Thanks

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 3 lety

      If you would like to open the hatch, you can use the swing base to move the bike rack out of the way to get full access to the tailgate of the vehicle. That is the main purpose for purchasing the Thule Swing Away. The bike attachment is a bike rack sold separately.

    We have a mobile pet grooming van and been looking for something like this! We want to install a generator on a bumper rack but it needs to swing open as we still need to access the rear doors for tub and plumbing maintenance and wondering if it will hold the weight of a Honda generator 6500?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 2 lety

      If your generator is under the 250lb weight limit and you can find a secure way to attach it we don't see a reason why it wouldn't work.

    The bike rack is so far back.. is that because of the design of the swing out, or the bike rack? If I had a different rack, would it be closer?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 2 lety

      This will be the case for pretty much any bike rack that is installed into a swing base such as this one.

    You can only place bike racks? Why cant cargo carriers or wheelchair racks slide into the 2 inch receiver?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 2 lety

      Thule does not test these products for compatibility. However, as long as the cargo carrier or wheelchair rack is within the Swing-Away's weight rating it's very likely you could use such carriers.

    Two questions for everyone. Is there a swing out on the market that swings more than 90°? And are there any others that have that anti rattle feature?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 2 lety

      The Yakima BackSwing has the same feature as this Thule Swing-Away. As far as swinging more than 90 degrees, we do not sell an item that fits that description, however there may be a product out on the market.

    I have a Thule X2 4 bike carrier. Will this work with this product. With 4 bikes I’m guessing the weight is 130-150 lbs.

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před měsícem

      Thanks for watching Patrick! As long as your bike rack and bikes is under the 250lb weight limit of the swing base you should be able to add this to your setup with no issues. Hope this helps!

    How do you lock the bike rack to the Access swing?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 3 lety

      To lock your bike rack to the Access Swing Away, your bike rack either has to already have pre-existing locking capability to a hitch, or you would have to purchase a hitch lock or locking cable separately. Thanks for watching!

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 2 lety +1

    @jstein814 Před 2 lety

    Can this be used for a rear cargo carrier instead of a bike rack?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 2 lety +1

      If your cargo carrier and the contents you plan to load into it are within the weight rating of the Swing Away, and the hardware to the carrier is intended to be installed in a 2" hitch receiver then that should work just fine.

    • @jstein814
      @jstein814 Před 2 lety

      @@rackwarehouse Are there instructions somewhere of how to attach the carrier to the swing-away hitch?

    • @rackwarehouse
      @rackwarehouse  Před 2 lety +1

      The instructions to attach the carrier should be included with the carrier itself, as the process to install a rack into the Swing Away is the same as installing said product in a hitch receiver. Thule does not officially test any products compatibility however with any but their own.

    • @jstein814
