Yup, it’s a tough struggle. I recently bought a house at 6%. Going from 4.25 to 6 didn’t increase the mortgage as much as I thought so I think it’s always about seeing what it looks like on paper. Most people get so much more out in Portland vs the bay so they feel like it’s a great deal!

I have been trying to buy a home for just over a year and noticed some new homes in the Portland area within my budget. I would love to be able to stay here! I have been here since 1990 and don't really want to leave :( It's just that I can buy a home for 220 in Arkansas that would cost me 500 in Portland :/

Moved to Sellwood in 2022 and it's been a dream. Simply make sure there aren't camps in your future neighborhood and your quality of life should be great.
