  • Today I am taking you along as I make a Salt bar for the new luxury range! I really wasn't thinking when I made this soap and made a few mistakes which resulted in the soap bars being a little rough. However, I feel it is important to share my mistakes so I decided to release the video. The next video will have a better version of this soap!
    Thank you for watching!

    So glad that you decided to share this with us. It shows us that mishaps happen to even the more experienced soapers. You truly are an inspiration to me Keeley. This soap is still very lovely, the colors are gorgeous!!! I will be trying a salt soap also!!
    Every video I watch gets me more excited to get soaping!!! I have my mold, my essential oils, some of my soaping oils, my safety gear, my cutters, curing rack, and even some silicon molds for extra soap and smaller shaped soaps. Just to get the lye now and a couple other things, and I'm set to go!!! My husband, children, and mom are all excited to try my soap. Knowing it will be all natural and free of those harsh chemicals you find in mass produced soaps. THANK YOU Keeley, for being my #1 inspiration!!

    Rookie mistakes happen to all of us, no matter how long we've been soaping. Salt soaps are so easy to forget how quick you need to cut them. Glad you shared anyway :)

    Good video! I am lucky, I had found a recipe the first time I made salt bars and it stressed not let your bars go uncut past more than 5 hours. In the recipe it said to cut the bars 3 1/2 hours after molding and I did and they cut perfectly. I only varied the type of oils after that. It was good you showed the video and it is going to be very helpful for someone trying salt soap for the first time. I do like those colors you picked.
    Cheers and Blessings 💕👍 💕

      I knew salt bars needed unmoulding and cutting quickly, I just forgot as I was making so many others at the same time 😆

    You should try blending the goat's milk powder into the oil. I do that and have never have any problems with lumps etc.

    Hi Keeley, thanks for sharing. I wonder if the soap was a bit scratchy on the skin. I used mid grinded sea salt and feel that it is uncomfortable on the skin when the soap bar touches the skin. Does grinding the salt more help?

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  Před 10 měsíci +1

      I tend to use fine salt in mine. Larger grains do exfoliate or are a bit rougher. With mine, for the most part it is smooth on the skin though occasionally there is a large particle you feel

    Such a cool looking bar, your poor cutter lol,
    This is why most people use silicone moulds bar moulds so they don’t have to cut the buggers

    • @SoyandShea

      I'm definitely going to look and see if I can find a silicone bar mould that is the right size

    We are always hardest on ourselves when a batch doesn't come out just like we had envisioned. I think there isn't anything wrong with the soap!. But yes my salt bars I usually end up cutting within 3-4 hours while it is still warm and then I don't end up popping my wires...LOL Thank you again for sharing with us!

    Would a melt and pour soap cutter be sturdy enough to cut salt bars if they are accidentally left sit too long?

    • @SoyandShea
      @SoyandShea  Před 3 lety +1

      Maybe but the other issue is they crumble when left for too long. A M&P cutter may still make them crumble and fall apart

    • @LizzyAnna

      I will add that to my notes as well. Thank you.
