Our soaps go through a complete gel. Large batches will naturally gel especially in a wooden mold.
Cold process soap must saponify and harden before unmolding and cutting. Sea Salt Soaps need to be cut sooner, often while still warm. Cold Process Soap must cure for 4-8 weeks before using.
Oh sea salt bars are my absolute favourite kind of soap!! Satsuma would be lovely smelling too. These soap are perfect Holly, it's the nature of the beast!! 😉

Holly, I have everything you are using even the Satsuma but I still haven’t made a salt bar and that is my favorite soap. You have inspired me once again. 🌸🌺🌸
Thank you! I hope you do make a batch.
This is beautiful Holly, I love the colors it came out so pretty 😍
Thank you! It's one of my favorite batches to date.
Nice work! :o The rustic look adds a lot of charm to a soap, so I think it works out really well~
I also really liked the sound of the peeler on the bar!
Thank you!
Hi Holly! I love how you still make these smaller batches along with everything else you do! I just got my sampler pack from you a few hours ago, they are gorgeous!!
Oh good! I am so glad you love them. Thank you!

I love how looks the swirls…♥️
Thank you!
The Satsuma salt bars are wonderful. The scent sounds awesome. I see what you mean by cutting the bars earlier. You still made a wonderful job of slicing them. 😍 😍
Thank you! I've since made a different batch and it cut much better.
I. Love. Salt. Soaps. And omg i love that salty sound when your bevelling the bars too 😂i could watch & listen to that all day, you should definitely do asmr of just that😂🥰
Thank you! I am so glad you enjoy it too!
I think they’re wonderful.
Thank you Sherry!
I love the feel of salt soaps but have only made them once and we don't want to talk about how those turned out...lol Love watching you work through issues.
Uh oh. Haha! They can be a pain. I've lost a few batches due to false trace.
Thanks Holly 😊
Thank you!
Hey! Holly I just love the thought of cleansing away a hot day with an uplifting citrus soap! It was 39 degrees here in the UK this week!!🥵 Good choice as ever....Keep cool....Thanks as always 💜
Oh yes for sure! I hope you have cooled down now.
Hey! Holly we are having a very dry hot summer this year...send RAIN and soap!! 😀
We are having the same here. It's very frustrating.
That's the word! Frustrating! Hot and bothersome....A shower is the most relaxing joy of the day! Roll on Autunn. 😊💜
Lol, I have a few drawers of soap clothes! You can tell where splashes have hit them. I frequently make the mistake of not changing before I go into the studio! I always think I'll be careful and not ruin another hoodie! Hoeever, this rarely is true, apron or not! So I completely understand your issue!
Great video! I love Sumatsu fragrance oil, it smells delicious! (Don't lick the soap!) I learned from you to always use silicone molds for salt soap! Your breaking your own rules, lol! Have a great week Holly!
Haha! You definitely do understand my troubles. I did break my own rules and I'm loving it!
I made a salt soap 2 months ago, and I decided I wasn't going to make it in a long mold, so I decided they were going in individual molds. I happy how they turned out and some co workers and my sister live the feel of them.
Salt soaps tend to be super smooth in the individual silicone molds. I usually make them that way. But I am loving these bars.
These are beautiful. I've made salt soaps (in silicone molds b/c I'm afraid of loaf molds) and my batter gets so thick every single time. I wind up glopping the batter into the molds. Your batter stays so nice and fluid - I'm so jealous!
Thank you Jini! It really can be confusing to know how much to stick blend these salt soaps.
THANK YOU
Thank you!
Rustic = Artisan 😬😎
YES!
@@moriversoap I think some people think that our soaps should look like mass produced store made soaps as most of the time our soaps look much better 🤭 there are going to be some imperfections only because of all the different materials we all love to use HENCE people ARTISAN lol …. Sometimes I take negative comments to heart because I love making it much (it’s my brain relaxer) 😊
Starting @ 21:02 "And I'm not just saying that to convince my own self, it's just a true story. It is just a true story." 🤣🤣🤣 I literally laughed out loud when you said that because although I'm a perfectionist, I am by no means perfect, and when I put a lot of effort in creating something and I find an issue with it, I need to convince myself that it's handmade and doesn't need to always be perfect. 🤣🤣🤣
Haha, thank you Ken! I am always wrestling with my desire for perfectionism but not caring enough to be perfect. LOL
😍
Hello again! How are you? I know this is a random question but where again do you buy your palm oil? There was a video that you talk about it but I can't find it lol. Thanks in advance! And thanks for your relaxing soap videos! 😊
Thank you Nina! My palm oil is from Jedwards. it is (or was at the time as I'm out), organic and certified by Fair for Life and Palm Done Right.
Beautiful soaps, what sizes are your soap bars?
I think these ones were 3 x 2.5 x 1. Thanks!
@@moriversoap Thank you, love your soaps!
1st comment 😘
Yay!
what do you do with all the crumbles after your done cleaning the bars up?
These don't really serve any purpose so I don't reuse them. They are predominately just salt.
You could be on to something with your coconut and cream idea! Add a pineapple swirl and you'd have Pina colada soap 🧼 😉
Oh very fun. That would be a good one if I could find the right fragrance. Coconut ones tend to discolor or fade to a plastic.
@@moriversoap coconut cream from Brambleberry does not discolor at all Holly and it’s super strong
With salt soaps, do you need to add way more fragrance due to the extra salt? I noticed I can barely smell mine and put the required amount in with my recipe.
In the attached blog post, Lovin' Soap talks about figuring fragrance oil based on oil + salt. I do increase the fragrance but it doesn't feel right to go all the way with it. I try to be cautious, especially if the fragrance oil already has a low usage rate. lovinsoap.com/2015/09/how-to-formulate-soap-salt-bars/
@@moriversoap Thanks for your help :)
Where can we buy your orange cream soap?
Our products are available at moriversoap.com. This soap will be on the curing rack until our release towards the end of August.
Can you post more precise measurements in the recipe? Such as in grams or ounces?
Percentages is what you are going to want to learn. Then you can input that into a soap calculator such as Soap Calc and scale your batch up and down to the size you want to make.
my hubby is English... he says OXO the way you did... like OX OH... His daughter still sends it to me bc their OXO is waaayyy better than ours here...
That's interesting!
Oh god, I can't keep any of my clothes clean too. I just got an alkanet stain on the front of my new dress yesterday & I thought I was being so careful ughh! This is why we can't have nice things..
Oh no! That's too bad!
wow that's a lot of salt - awesome result though
Thanks! Most soapmakers use 100% salt instead of 50%.
Wnat ki d of cream you uesd
I use organic heavy whipping cream. I use either fresh or dehydrated depending on availability.
Just wondering, why did you put sodium lactate in a salt soap?
I love sodium lactate. It just makes soap feel amazing. Since my recipe doesn't use full salt, I find that the sodium lactate does help to tighten it up faster, especially when pouring into individual silicone molds which means the soap doesn't usually gel. Now, did I need it in loaf form?... Probably not, but I still come back to the fact that I just love SL in soap.
@@moriversoap ok
Thank you for the answer
