      Agreed, many people don't realize that for some this is the most money they can spend. I'm tired of hearing "but that's so slow comparing to my CX-30 Turbo" - yeah but your CX-30 Turbo OTD price is close to $40.000. If I'd have $40.000 sure I wouldn't be buying Trax, but I don't.

      Correct I literally picked it because of the cost. I just hope it’s not a lemon. My “cheap” 2010 Sentra served me very well over the last 13.5 years. I only upgraded as to not put money into a car that old.

    Bought a 2023 Traverse last December. Absolutely gorgeous 3 row value. Zero issues and extremely quiet on the road. Bought a Subaru Outback for my wife in 2022. Also an excellent vehicle but my Traverse is quieter and more comfortable on the highway. We are looking for a new car for our daughter and yes I am considering this amongst the Crosstrek. I will say I prefer non turbo engines so it may likely be the Crosstrek in this case. My point though is that Chevy is making some very good vehicles and a lot of biases are based on old vehicles. Look at consumer reports or JD satisfaction ratings. Chevy is doing an admirable job these days. 👍

    I live in the northeast ( we get decent snowfall) and I see these everywhere. My concern is are these Chevy dealers telling their customers that their crossover doesn’t have awd. Yea, I understand if you know how to drive in the snow, fwd isn’t a problem. But I feel most of these customers are not the type of people that would consider themselves good snow drivers. I just don’t understand who makes a crossover SUV and decides not to add all wheel drive as an option. Like, were they under the influence at Chevy when they designed this thing?

    • @HawkeyeRides
      @HawkeyeRides  Před 7 měsíci +1

    No there are 2 serious problems with the Trax RS2. The carriage bolts from the factory weren't tightened allowing the gas peddle to shake and they are what keeps the front attached to the body. (2) Air condenser failed after 2 weeks. 3 times in the shop before that malfunction was found. Been driving an Equinox for over a month for the repairs to be made.

    I used all my GM rewards as downpayment and got an LS of this. CHEAPEST zero options, plastic hubcaps. Old School. Is fun. Got a new car for used car price almost. I don't drive that much now that most of us work from home. This was replacing a vehicle that had pretty much rusted away and was no longer drivable. I did some research before I signed the paperwork thought. The engine proven itself very reliable and been in the Base TrailBlazer since 2017. The 2024 Trax, is basically the what GM has been selling since 2017 or before in Asia, Latin America, etc. as the Tracker. In the 90's the Chevy Tracker was briefly sold after most GEO's became Chevy's but the Tracker of the 1990's was a rebadged Suzuki.

    I like the looks of the new Trax and I was seriously thinking about it in the 2RS trim. I changed my mind when I found out the 1.2 L engine has a timing belt-in-oil which is a horrible design. I’ve see where the rubber timing belt can shed debris into the engine oil and clog the oil pick up tube and destroy the engine. I’m not a fan of tiny turbo engines as it is but that engine is a recipe for disaster. I’d feel a little more comfortable with the 1.3L engine that is optional in the Trax’s sister vehicle the Trailblazer, at least that one uses a steel timing chain. The 155 hp 1.3L in the Trailblazer also gets about 2 mpg better than the 1.2L telling me the 1.2 is strained at only 137 hp output.

    Given the value proposition, from what I have read and seen (even the carcarenut, a Toyota mechanic, likes this car). The timing belt should not be that big an issue. I like the regular transmission vs CVT, it sits a bit higher than a sedan, it has a very good safety rating, quiet enough, decent ride, yada yada. At barely 40mph they estimated the total damages at $13k so they totaled it. This 2024 only had 9 total miles and it literally just got delivered. So far I love it but I'm no mechanic by any means. So I was just watching Videos to see what other's say just so i won't be surprised by potential mechanical issues. Aside from some minor nit picking things the worst I've seen was issues with the turbo and stuff with the cooling system. So I fully understand you get what you pay for. Small turbo charged engines work really hard, and need more frequent oil changes (at least every 6 months or 5000 miles with full-synthetic). Also it's a good practice to allow the engine to idle for a minute or two after arriving at your destination (especially if it was driven hard). This allows the very hot oil in the turbo to circulate through the system and cool down a bit before shutting the engine off.

    I just test drove a 24’ Trax RS1 I should have went on the highway as I did with the 3 cyl Trailblazer I was up to 81 mph in no time. I am concern with the 1.2 TURBO as we know turbo lags in 0 to -20 cold temps. Me: 45 year mechanic, I have issues. I like the 6 speed trans will NEVER own a Continual Vicious Termoil trans ever! We send people back to dealerships as we cannot or won’t work on them or replace them (300 pcs on the metal band riding on two cones). They are built for Hybrid and EVs only. Period!!
    **On that note My Friend had a 1986 Chevy Sprint 3cyl (Susuki) put almost 300,000 miles on it he never flushed the trans and I kept hounded him to do it often, So the trans blew up on trip from Chicago Burb to Terre Haute Indy..end of story but it had good power for 3- 30 year old immature guys including me I’m over 60 now still immature. Love cars!
    👉Back to the 24’ Chevy Trax I was impress as I’m 6’4” tall has same room as Trailblazer love the new design and NO push button start 🥰 has same real key as my 2015 Equinox LTZ. not fond but will deal with the 8-9-10 speed auto, 6 speed is perfect so either I get the Trailblazer AWD or Trax I will go on highway tomorrow with the 1.2L Trax that will be my decider..
    As for the 2019-2023 Blazer I don’t like GM Asinine Freakin Management technology on the 3.6 L V6 cutting off 3 cylinders. it ruins engines oil gets displaced and lifters destroyed $7000 on company 53K miles 5.3L GMC Sierra w/AFM…I’ll give Update on my new purchase ✌🇺🇸

    Im glad they didn't go down the CVT rabbit hole with this car. Usually when I see CVT I walk away. I am a little disappointed in the engine offering. I don't see a turbo 3 cylinder lasting long enough for reliability. A naturally aspirated 2.0 liter with that traditional transmission would have been great and the option for a 5 speed manual in all trim levels would be icing on the cake.

    This Trax supposed to be simple and easy design but it looks very aggressive and supposed to be styling or luxury one. Plus little bigger as you look it from over 150 yard distance and may not be if you look it close by. Otherwise LT tirm is very perfect means push button start, nice rim, 17" radius tire, apple car play, android auto, no need sun roof which is good to keep price low, nice cloth seats, halogen lights nothing wrong and looks nice, but all I am saying should be regular like Chevy have sonic sedan, little high and at least 16 or 17 rim.

    CVTs in Hondas and Toyotas are far more reliable than the 6-speed auto in the Trax. History shows us this. The Trax is a very attractive and nicely packaged vehicle, but with that tiny turbo engine that uses a timing belt instead of a chain, I predict long-term reliability and ownership costs are going to be quite poor. GM Korea turbos tend to have a very short lifespan and they are EXPENSIVE to replace. I recommend spending a little more money and getting a Honda HRV, Toyota Corolla Cross, or even a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. All have much better reputations. The Outlander Sport also has a fantastic 10yr/100k mile powertrain warranty.

      If you put a review or post online, I would remove that as you are working with corp and they can just say sorry for your lose (I know from experience). Contact GMC North America and start a case, they should have given you a loaner vehicle and wait. If the vehicle is in the shop for over 30 days that good for you for a buy back or you can ask them to give you money back. If the vehicle is drivable and nothing that can make the car not drive or is dangerous then the case is better but it’s easier to work with them as it goes forward with your case. Hope this helps 👍
