    order of operation question: if your using plastigage, would you want to assemble with out rings first, check, take apart, then ring it? when measuring crank/cam thrust - should you do that before the rest of the rotational assembly? incase machining or new trust bearings are needed?

    • @horsetorquesdiesel
      @horsetorquesdiesel  Před měsícem

      You should be measuring the crank filet long before it's ever in, and you should be checking thrust bearing spacing on the cap before it's ever installed. Dial bore gauge prevents using any plastigage

      As long as you are running a chilled iron cam there isn't really a need for the bushings. Steel cam and it is pretty much a must or if they planned to run it 100K miles with 150lbs+ of seat pressure it would be a good idea.

    So is their any benefit in a street engine to having the cam bore bored for bearings for all cam journals?

    • @jasontruman1215
      @jasontruman1215 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes if you have a steel (not cast) cam or very stiff valve springs.

    • @horsetorquesdiesel
      @horsetorquesdiesel  Před 3 lety +3

      As Jason said it allows for a stronger cam material. Usually a CR engine will get away at a higher power level with a cast cam because the CP3s don’t take as much HP to turn compared to a p-pump. We also opened up a couple oil gallies to help keep it alive
