  • Some scenes from an episode of the now almost forgotten 1966/67 TV series 'Jericho', and it's another mission behind enemy lines for the men of this covert ops trio.
Fans of 'Combat' will probably recognise the set as it was filmed in the same location.

Hey bud, yet another corker which had me standing to attention throughout.
Obviously these German soldiers forgot to pack their copies of the Wehrmacht survival guide hand book ...
#1 Beware of train doors which are unpredictable and liable to kick back and do not lean out of windows as there is a high risk of sudden objects appearing without warning resulting in perilous consequences.
#2 Wooden doors have a low resistance level to bullets which may require a health and safety assessment when in close proximity to reduce severe reaction and any harsh side effects.
#3 Entering a sewer system can be highly hazardous and detrimental to your well being with unanticipated menacing elements suddenly appearing. Make sure you are wearing appropriate boots and head ware at all times for protection and if you enter the water beware of hidden toxic substances that could be volatile.
#4 When travelling by road plan your journey to avoid potential hazards and be prepared for unforeseen frequent low flying projectiles which could be small and hard in nature and travel at high velocity which may diminish your driving ability. Kradschützen Truppen are particularly vulnerable and are advised to wear extra thick rubber coats. Being hit by these objects propelled through the air could result in lifeless reaction and effect your ability to operate machinery.
#5 Falling form a great height is a occupation hazard and not recommended. To reduce this risk it is advised to throw back a grenade before it explodes.
#6 When indoors it is desirable to keep a safe distance from a fireplace as although these are normally non threatening can become highly explosive without notification.
#7 Remember to follow the Wehrmacht safe boating code as any deviation to the rules may be fraught with danger. And if you find yourself drifting in the water motionless remember to wear your life jacket as there is a risk of drowning.
If you are unfortunate enough to experience any of the above symptoms then please ring our free helpline: Berlin nein, nein , nein and request to speak to one of our well being advisers for support and guidance.
    ...
Love your stuff bud. Ahh, it is so good to be back :-)

OMG mate, I am IN STITCHES here reading that!!!!!! This is the funniest comment I think I have EVER had on any of my uploads and it's priceless lol.
Yes, you would have thought the Nazis, with all their strict adherence to the rule books ("orders MUST be obeyed!") would have known the basics, but these troops fell foul at each and every turn. Between ignoring the possibility of flying boots from train carriage doors, taking no notice of unforeseen dangers behind thin wooden doors, taking dips in rancid and putrid sewage water, taking no cognisance of hidden dangers when opening manhole covers meaning a subsequent punishment in hot searing lead, and for all the green rubber coated finery displayed by the Kradschützen their ignorance of the highway code was indeed shocking, with disastrous results. The ease of dispatch by way of grenade was indeed disgraceful to The Fatherland, and you would think that soldiers of the Wehrmacht would know how to clear a fire grating wouldn't you? And then there's the negligence of those in the boat, proof positive that soldiers are not made for a life on the open waves. Where was the Kriegsmarine when needed? Yes, that freephone number is sure to be ringing off its receiver into the early hours following this debacle mate!!!!
Honestly fella, you really have made my night with that reply and I am still cracking up here!!! It really is a pleasure knowing you bud!!!

I recognized the set very soon as the set for Combat!, but I don't recognize the series. I was 11-12 around this time period but don't know the program. I wonder why I missed this show. Maybe it came on later than I was allowed to be up or maybe it came on opposed to a program I or my parents preferred. I just don't know. Looks badass, though, something I would have liked to watch. The Germans were wearing grey-green coats, but grey trousers. The heroes were karate chopping during hand to hand combat, which I don't think is correct. Karate was little known in the west before the war. The combat choreography was quite precise between the characters. Overall, quite unrealistic, but a fun watch! Gotta beat those Nutzi troops by any means! :D That small boat at the end should have had the bottom blown out of it and begun sinking immediately. And what was the source of the fire on the boat???

    • @foreverblueclassics
      @foreverblueclassics  Před 4 lety +1

Yes mate, the set was well used for this and other series as well as 'Combat', which was being filmed here at the same time in its last season. 'Garrison's Gorillas' also filmed here I believe. The title of this series was 'Jericho' (the 'Code Name' part is just me adding a bit from the opening titles!) and it ran on CBS from September 1966 to January 1967. It was reasonably popular but was unfortunately put up against the almost unbeatable ratings success of ABC's 'Batman' and lost out (perhaps you were watching The Caped Crusader on the other channel and that's why you don't remember it?), and it was cancelled after just 16 episodes. In reality it's very far from believable (the uniforms and weapons are often not accurate and the story lines can be more like a comedy at times) but it was a lot of fun and would probably have done better if it hadn't been up against the aforementioned Batman and Robin. Yes, the boat should have been blown to smithereens, never mind just having the bottom blown out of it!!! Thank you for your kind comment and I'm pleased to have introduced you to a new series :-)

Superlatives fail me. I know I've been out of action for a while, but I've seldom been struck so hard by a first-blood encounter as this; you've blown my fkn sox 'n' jackboots off mate!!! Ladz-own war at it's best - the spirit of Combat!/Gorillas combined in a hybrid that targets, hits 'n' annihilates the troopz every bit as fkn hard. I'm 100% with those Grey grunts in spirit of course; fighting-fit as ever in their multi-tonal kit (I'm thinking the Combat! 'n' Gorilla lads have butchered so many top-troops, the new recruits here get to run out in the stained 'n' lad-stunk kit of their battle-hammered predecessors lol) still employing the same suicidal-tactics as they're out-thought, outfought 'n' slaughtered every which way; I fkn love this game boss!! I'll leave the Priest to you mate (lol) coz I'm wondering what 0:22 was playin' at (or with lol) in 1st class. If he does come round after that kicking we'll get no sense out of him - or 0:35 after he gets the chop - I'm more than happy getting definitive confirmation that two-tone 0:39 died with his boots on tho lol (Brit-lad using the feldgrau-clad chest to wipe down his steely tool straight after withdrawal is a crackin' touch). Classic Goon brawn before brains in action from 1:13 as the assault 'n' battery boys announce their arrival and are fkn riddled with backs to the wall still playing with their weapons (fuck yeah m8 - my men of the match - and as the reinforcements arrive, just a cursory health check from squaddie class and a toe punt from an officer before they leave 'em for dead lol). A casual toss silences the blazin' squaddies standing firm at 1:52 (love that job-satisfied grin lol) and I fkn love the follow up in around the sewers that ensues (troops caught in the crossfire without firing a shot culminating in that solid bullet-spun arch at 2:13; the lads 'n' Sergeant slaughtered around the manhole and so good to see 3:09's early-bath swansong and the hammering the follow-up troops endure in it's glorious context here). And what more can a lad ask for than a classic Combat! style set-piece battle endgame to finish him off. Incredibly - it looks like lead Krad lived to fight another day - but his mate is well 'n' truly fucked (curling up to die with the boot leather glinting in the moonlight) alongside barrel-busting 3:46 in the threefold storm of spraying load. (I hope Mrs.Slocombe secured her pussy before getting the bird out of the firing line btw lol) A salute to 3:52 for his suicide run, 4:03 pawing his wounds as he drops out and 4:20 - humping the team Goon-branded bonnet as he takes his punishment. Such a sharp fkn Schütze at 4:41 putting a temporary spanner in the works, before he's whacked arse over lid by a hot lead-cluster, and outflanked 4:58 - pouting out his load manfully before he's spun by a lid-spilling hit - is defo one of the men of the match. Some nice fallout from the stickie-blast at 5:24, love the prone Goon gunner loosing-off shots impotently after he's turned over at 6:18, some fine interplay in the twat a trooper match from 6:38 and another casual toss leaves all hands dead on the deck of Bismarck-junior to seal another humiliating rout for us ladz in Grey. Fkn brilliant mate - you've more than made my day here. Achtung stiff respect and massive thanks for putting this out there; you're elite class mate!!

Brilliant mate!!!!! You've done me fucking proud here fella and I'm beaming! This is just exactly the kind of comic-book war action that gets me going and knowing we share the same love of the genre is another of the many bonds between us!
The priest is safe for once fella (that comment was beneath the cassock J :-)) lol but I can't say the same for the Goonz, who as usual are "outfought 'n' slaughtered every which way". You bet they are, replacements for those already fallen in 'Combat' or not (lol), starting with 0:22. He looks the part mate (not half!) but something definitely put him off his game in First Class (lol) and that is one helluva karate kick he takes to the fizog! Mmmmmm.....somehow I think he's gonna need a plastic surgeon to put those good looks right again, assuming he survived! 0:35 is also likely to have survived, albeit with a pain in the neck, but I'm afraid it's "auf wiedersehen" to poor Otto at 0:39, who did indeed "die with his boots on" (I'd have had 'em off him!). Chief in 'Garrison's' would be proud of the knife deployment here and the almost matter of fact way he cleans the blade on the uniform of the fallen trooper. I fucking love the pair at 1:13 mate, and the lad at the back brings back memories of you know who in 'Force 10' fella, tipped back tin lid and all - a right scally-lad of a Goon cut from the same cloth as our other fallen hero from that classic! And here he and his equally pleasing on the eye kamerad make the fatal error of the classic comic-book method of entry cock-up and pay the ultimate price of a belly and chestful of hot piercing lead!!!! Yep, I don't think the squad bringing up the rear are too impressed with our lads, such is the almost casual way they're dismissed lol. That's my kinda toss at 1:52 and Jean-Gaston is a happy man with the results of his work :-) That pirouette at 2:13 gets a 10/10 for artistic merit from me but the poor lad ended up in the drink for his efforts (and you don't want to drink that, being sewage water!). The manhole lads are a sight for sore eyes (very pleasing kit presentation!) and 3:09 is another taking a dive in the murky stuff - yeeeuch! The Krad is another with nine lives (it won't last!) but 3:46 is very definitely a gonner (but what an exit!). Yes, Mrs Slocombe and her pussy were a worry to me too fella (brilliant mate!!!!), 3:52 died on the run, 4:03 takes it like a man but 4:41 is man of the match in this part of the clip for me, and what an exit he makes eh, arse over lid as you say lol. 4:58 is taken from behind (mmmmm!!!) , 5:24 is another nice spread, and 5:28 is yet another taken from the rear ;-) 6:18 fights to the bitter end, spraying a load post-mortem (I bet!) and 6:38 is just like a little rag doll, tossed and battered as he is by the Jericho lads (Gage recovered from being shot in the leg quickly enough!) and those pair in the boat were never cut out for the Kriegsmarine were they?!
