- Night drive video of my brand new 2022 BMW X3 30i Xdrive! I covered
- automatic headlights
-auto high beam settings
-auto high beams in action
-exterior walk around of the car with welcome lights, bmw light carpet, door handle lights, welcome lights from the pulsing DRL animations, new full led 3D taillights.
Video is very detailed with everything lighting also the new live cockpit pro features the different graphics with each drive modes and a 0-60 pull in sport mode.
I’m addicted to these videos because my X3 is currently in production lol
The orange back-lit switches and controls were originally chosen to copy passenger aircraft as, following the research, it was deemed to be the best colour to avoid eye strain (obviously at night) for the pilots on the flight deck.
Awesome explanation thanks man! Logically makes sense
As any sailor knows, red instrument and cabin lights maintain your night vision.
Very well done review young man!! I like how you break down all the details and your presentation was quite clear. I’m planning to buy this car for my wife’s 50th birthday. I learned a lot from you compared to other videos I’ve seen here. Great job!!
Thank you I appreciate that and hope you both enjoy it they are fabulous suvs
@@RAMONEAuto in comparison with an X5, how much larger is that vehicle in comparison with the X3? In terms of hauling people around (say like visitors) then a 3 row SUV would make sense but then again not many visitors coming by because of pandemic. For a personal family car that can hold 5 adults, does that 2nd row middle seat seem too tight?
@@mr.tuckers2848 the second row is extremely small! I was surprised when I first tried sitting back there with my front seat in my driving position. Go for the X5 that extra 5-6 inches will be worth it for adults. In my case only a new born will ride in mine so it’s enough leg room for the car seat but full size adults will be a bit tight
Ramone, excellent review on the features you covered. I ordered the 2022 X3 M40i update to replace our 2002 530i as an Aniversary gift the tail end of August fully loaded, arrival was first part of Oct. and despite shortages on chips and parts everything I speced was on the vehicle!!! I put a ribbon on the back end and said Happy Anniversary!! She would have been happy with the base X3 but the performance and handling on the X3 M40i is unbelievable!!
Hi Ramone, thanks for the informative video. I'm from UK, where laser lights are an option, but I've chosen not to have on my new BMW X3 LCI M40I The following reasons you may find interesting...
1) Rains a lot in UK. Rain causes laser lights to create a mist in-front of you.Not Great!!
2) Unlike in USA, we have no straight roads, as roads built by the Romans (!), so loads of bends and up/down hills. This means the 500+ metres the laser lights give you, is actually not required, as these new LED adaptive X3 LCI lights cover everything needed in UK.
3) UK really small country, with lots of people live all squeezed together, so roads are busy and chance of using main beam is limited, whatever time of night! So no need for lasers.
4) Laser lights are an optional additional choice at $2033 USD (£1500 GBP)on the X3 LCI. So, rather pay for other options this money could be used for, especially when the LED lights are so great anyway, certainly for UK.
I could see laser lights being good in USA and Canada, with long straight roads and less traffic congestion. But USA Federal Government needs to sort-out its vehicle lights laws for Americans to benefit from laser light technology in cars. Certainly to make it even worth putting-in and fully activating for the USA Vehicle market, let alone a consumer paying for them when not cheap!
Thanks for the in-depth explanation truly like those points you touched on!
Laser lights are fantastic and while we have the roads here that could benefit from it. I think it’s a wasted $1500 option because our government doesn’t allow laser nor it’s equivalent to perform at its optimal level. The BMW lasers are a dumbed down version for North America bevause our regulations are so bloody old. I think bmw has finally realized this and now only the x5, X6, x7, 7er, 8er and M3,M4 has the laser light options for 2022 they upgraded the leds and made the standard adaptive LEDs on the LCI 5er and now x3 and x4! It makes far more sense than the laser bevause we can’t actually see the benefits of laser over the adaptive leds
I love how raw this video is.

Gotta stay on the grind! Thanks for the support 💪🏾
@@RAMONEAuto what’s ur opinion on the b58

X3 the BEST
I had 2019 b4, now I’m going to my Dealer for 2022 X3 only 51K here in Vancouver Canada
Nice review man. You're the reason why i cancelled an order for a lexus and stuck to BMW ordering this time the brand new X1. I've got a 2018 420i for the moment and the headlights are a main feature to that car. Those lights read the road and adjust lighting as you go along. A real ballet of light. I'm amazed at what they do. With your presentation that bolstered me in my choice to keep driving in BMW. THX
Lexus also has such lights.
Many thanks for your Reviews!!!
I‘ve ordered my X3 last week and getting it in august this year. So hyped on it.
Best greetings from Germany. 👊🏼😊
Congrats! It’s a fantastic suv you will love it
@@RAMONEAuto yea, definitely! 😍
I think the first time you started in M2 second gear, that's why it took a while to wind up. But great, thourough video, helped me figure out how those headlights work.
I just purchased this Friday the same color. I love it 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Congrats! You’ll love it take care of her it’s an excellent suv
May I know how much did you purchase?
@@lethang1866 check out my video on pricing it has all the numbers
You really show the X3's capabilities... And they're top notch!
What do you think about the driving assistant? Is it enough? Does it help you stay in between the road lines?
Congrats on the review, both of them. They really helped me out.
Greetings from Spain
🤜🤛
Mine has the standard driver assist and I find it really useless! The lane assist seems too aggressive and demanding at times so I turn off the steering intervention. I really wish I gotten the driver assist pro it would’ve been far better especially on longer trips but overall the car itself is fantastic!
Thank you for your support🙏
@@RAMONEAuto we have the 18 iDrive5 version of the pro assist. Best thing about it is the adaptive cruise, the rest is just a novelty I hope they have improved it.
@@keweenawbee it will be available again as soon as the supply chain gets back to normal
@@RAMONEAuto biggest disappointment (absolutely love the car overall) was lack of updates. It was rumored that we would receive firmware improvements to this during ownership, along with remote start, etc. So we’re stuck with iDrive 5 it seems for the duration.
@@keweenawbee I’d say most of the new features I noticed on this idrive 7 pretty much requires new hardware and not just software
BMW is King! Absolutely beautiful suv. I want one. 😉
This was a unique review. No one has show na night time driving review, and I learned a lot about the car. I'm considering a 2023 X3, and your review has pushed me over the decision edge. Thanks again for the great review.
Did you get it?
Nice review. Had one these for a rental last Spring (same color). Great vehicle. Awesome headlights.
they did surprise me, i was skeptical since they removed the fog lights but these lights are phenomenal
Thank you BMW, this one

God bless you !
I'm in Sri Lanka & hope to buy this car in black eddition, badge exterior

My mother was torn between the glc or the X3. She just ordered a X3 M40i. She really wanted all the bells and whistles, she was hoping it had cool lights like this. She didn’t get the advanced driving assistance either
Are those magic carpet projected lights standard equipment?
yes they are standard on everything 3er and up but clarify with the dealer due to parts supply some standard items are being removed
That's the video I was looking for! I ordered exact same specification here in Poland (white 30i with brown interior, but with black 20"s and panoramic roof) and I'll get it in March. I was looking for a video where someone shows the exteriour/interour lightning. Good job!
Glad I was able to help and congrats on the new ride they are amazing you’ll love it
@@RAMONEAuto And huge respect for recording in HDR 😄
Very detailed and informative Ramon! You touched on so many features, loved the video🙌🏽
Thank you for watching! I have a thorough detailed video on the Idrive system dropping tmmr
Incredible bro!!! It's such a beautiful car. Your videos really convinced me to get this car. For the next video, could you possibly talk a bit about the sound system. Is it good enough? I heard some people complaining about the fact that BMW only offers the premium system for the x3 40i and up :(
Did you peek at my content planner ?! Lol yes the next video will be on sound, the Idrive screen, and all the interior stuff
yea is so stupid that the X3 M40i doesn't have harman kardon..... its pathetic really
@@KuyaArbee right! It’s reserved for the M in terms of standard features however the LCI X3 is really a decent suv
Due to Semiconductor chip shortage , harman kardon upgrade is not available in most of bmw models in 2022. Same thing with burmester audio system not available in some Mercedes models
@@Sriramn99 that is true! Only the X7 8er and Alpinas have those options currently
Awesome video! Thanks for pointing out things that other reviews have not. Those headlights are amazing!
I was a little bit worried since they removed the fog lights but I’m glad the technology has evolved! These lights are great especially if we can get the euro coding done
Nice car , I have 2019 X3 M Sport with similar options . No auto hi beams or door open option. Bmw should offer rear fog lights like Audi. In sport plus its a beast !!
the LCI got majority of the options standard that weren't available on the 2019 pre lci
@@RAMONEAuto what does LCI mean
Nice video, I'm buying X3 20i in Costa Rica. Hopefully is enough power in the car , wanted the 30i but here it costs $80k 😭
Super video. Just picked up my '23 X3 today and now after seeing this I can't wait to take a night drive but we don't have the adaptive in the US - just the automatic.
Hope you enjoy it!
I like the headlight test -- headlights are very important to me. Too many have ultra-sharp cutoffs.
This one is probably the best headlights of any vehicle I’ve owned! They are crazy bright, and it’s actually surprising how wide they are even on low beam but still doesn’t blind oncoming traffic
@@RAMONEAuto -- Thanks. If you get a chance, maybe you could take the car out on a country road with no surrounding street lights -- or a pitch black city street or ally-way: I'm curious how sharp the low-bream cut off is and if they shine enough light above the cutoff to see enough of the surrounding area. I've rented some cars that are very dangerous in the city because the projector beam is so sharp that you can't see people that might be getting ready to walk out in front of you, in between cars, etc. If there was a spot in your video that you think did a good job of this already, maybe you can tell me the time stamp. Much thanks!
@@ShowMeWhatINeedToKnow will do as soon as the weather clears up
@@RAMONEAuto Thanks man!
You’ve nail it. We don’t have to spend extra $10,000 . For all the tech, I am will to spend extra $1700 in April 2022 to get full option and stay with this x3xdrive30imsport with all the options. Thank you for you input and knowing you r right at get this. With all tech and laws in USA no need to up your engine just need to know how to adjust your settings. Peace J
Glad I was able to help! You are so right I didn’t think it was worth it to spend 10k more for the M40 when you’ll never be able to use all that power anyway a fully loaded 30i is the sweet spot
I think the adaptive light function is disabled in North America due to law and regulations, it should be capable of avoiding in coming traffics in stead of just turn off the high beam. We don’t have the opportunity to have optional laser light in mainland China as well for both x3 and X3m
You are correct! The adaptive date decoded and we do not have the optional lasers on the x4 or x3 either! In North America only the 3er X5 X6 X7 7er 8er has lasers and they are pretty much just for looks bevause they are limited on the light output and decoded adaptive functions
@@RAMONEAutofigure you might find it interesting to know, I just found out they offered the laser headlights in Canada for the 2022 model year on the X3 Xdrive30i
So the little dance the brights do, is it calibrating as the beam comes on? Or what is it doing? I was thinking since the matrixed lights aren’t allowed in the US, maybe they did a semi-matrix treatment by having the lights go on and off in segments like that. It’s super cool…but is it doing more than that? Sorry for my confusion. Edit: I found out on the other vehicle I’m looking at the Audi SQ5, they have matrixed headlights but it’s coded off for North America. However there are companies that can code them on and they are spectacular. My point being, clearly these are in fact matrixed headlights but BMW coded them out…I’m wondering if they can be officially enabled like on Audi. I’d bet money it’s at least possible.
They technically have the matrix functions they are dumb down and decoded for the US I think it’s just bmw way of trying to do something cool within a legal standard. But yes they can be coded to the full matrix functions
Great job and very informative!
Great video thanks, nice to actually see the lights working! 👍
Thanks for watching!
min 20:26 video contradicted what you said afterwards. so same problem as on mazda cx-5 (2018) with automatic high beams.. whenever I use that, oncoming traffic flashes me.
otherwise, thanks for the review, I’m waiting for my X3 to be built :)
I manually flashed my headlights to show how bright there were even with larger vehicles oncoming
@@RAMONEAuto aha! ok, my bad, thanks for clarifying! :) then kudos bmw, can’t wait!
Great demo of the headlights, thanks 👍
Nice video! So parts shortage no head-up-display? We have an 18 M exec model with most of these things. Love the larger center display and new dash controls. My favorite night driving mode is Eco Pro (blue) with blue ambient cabin LED's, the map on the center console (since it is predominate blue), the stick canted left for a more lively performance.
Yes that’s correct the heads up display is apart of the premium package which this car has but the HUD option is removed due to the supply shortage
Awesome. Great to see all the lights. Beautiful car

How can I tell whether a 2022 X3 has particular features such as: hands-free tailgate, remote start, parking assist, etc.? It has the following options (but no window sticker / Monroney label): Premium Package 2, ConnectedDrive, Live Cockpit Pro, Comfort Access.
If it has live cockpit, then it most likely has premium package 2 which includes comfort access hands free trunk
Loved this video! How did you get the magic light carpet? Does it come standard in the BMW X3?
Yes it’s standard
Hi Ramone, what do you use to shoot your videos. The video quality comes out so clear?

Very thorough videos Ramone. We've put in an order for the exact same color and specs. How is the regular cruise control, i believe BMW calls their standard cruise control as Dynamic Cruise Control. How is it compared to an Active or Adaptive CC on the highway?
this spec is perfect! it’s the right amount of sportiness and maturity I love it and you will too congrats on the bmw Also the standard cruise is called active cruise control because it has the standard safety stuff like forward collision braking blind spot and lane keep. I’ve done 4k highway miles it works ok but I do wish I had the driver assist professional to reduce fatigue on longer trips
@@RAMONEAuto thank you :) We’re super excited! We also opted for the Dynamic Handling Package as I read it makes a huge difference in ride with the adaptive suspension over the Msport suspension.
I believe the regular is just Dynamic cruise which doesn’t have auto stop and go and distance control to car in front. According to the Bimmer threads, the levels go from Dynamic, Active and then Adaptive Cruise Control. As much as the Driver Asst Professional, would have been nice to have but coming from a 2020 Mazda6 Signature, this is still a very good upgrade.
@@AshwinF1Bloke oh yes you’re gonna need that dynamic handling bevause it gives you adjustable dampers with a comfort plus setting. Mine rides really hard over bigger bumps especially with 20 inch and run flats so yours will be much better

Yes they are standard
I have the same model as you and my low beam is scrathed and this is in the interior of the headlamp. At 10:03 it seems that yours it also. Can you please confirm? It is visible only with the headlight on.
the split beam you are seeing is a result of the led positioning I think bmw programmed the leds to project a beam in that pattern so it kinda splits between cars to not blind them, similar to something the laser lights do
Wait I have this truck I never noticed the carpet lighting is that an extra feature let me go push the unlock button 😫
It’s a standard feature on every 21 and up bmw even the base trims! It can be disabled from the settings menu so check if yours is turned off. Go to exterior lighting and scroll to light carpet or pathway lighting then click it on
Hey Ramone are these headlights have that selective high beam assist ? I know that the Mercedes has it on the GLC43 amg I test driven for a week. It was a headlight upgrade from the started jewel like headlights.
My headlights are US spec so it’s heavily decoded. The matrix functions don’t work like the EU lights do with the lasers
