About Alea:
He had suffered a massive case of hearing loss at that time. Saltatio Mortis had to cancel concerts because of it, and he needed time to recover. Thankfully, he was able to make a full comeback, and can bless us once more with his incredible voice 💙
Hey Tank, thanks for the shout out. 😊 Sadly, the band had to announce yesterday that the tour in January will be pushed back once again to April 2023. (and that is the tour they had planned for the release of Das Elfte Gebot). Instead, they will have a live stream virtual release party on youtube on December 31st, 15:30 CET.

Manowar fan since 1983 here :) I remember this song when it first came out, and I've always liked the line, "With dreams to be a king, first one should be a man".
EDIT to add: I think Hauptmann is playing a Chapman Stick strapped to a halberd.
the concept of strapping any instrument to a halberd is so metal i love it
For me, Alea really stood out in the video and song. He really owned his part of the song with an awesome voice and so much confidence in gestures, mimic and voice. Just incredibly good.
I mean I love saltatio mortis but his vocals in this were way better than anything I have heard him sing before

Let's be honest the bagpipes take it to a whole new level almost like it was made for this song.
Bagpipes were clearly invented in the wrong time. The music style to use them in wasn't developed until centuries later.
I like Manowar, I like Tank and I like Feuerschwanz. So what else could happen except some awesomeness 🤘❤

The good thing about the European metal scene is that even if there is not a permanent super group as you would like to see (we all would, of course), they do so many collaborations that you get many excellent pieces like this very often! So hope is not all lost!
About that Halberd Hauptmann was playing I read in a comment from Hans that this is called "thunder harp". Great reaction once again, stay safe tank 😁
has to be said, a thunder harp does sound like they may have just made up a name for their custom instrument
to me, the thing looks like an electrically amplified upright (maybe double-) bass, full size, but with frets.
It's most definitely a weird monster 😁

I have to say, just from an arrangement point of view, I really enjoy that with all those amazing musicians it actually feels like a Warriors of the World *United* (even though the world is just a small part of western Europe in this case, but still). But I think you get what I mean, it's not Feuerschwanz featuring the rest, it's really more of a collaboration.
Plus, great utilization of each singer's strengths, Thomas goes *way* high, Alea has that fry of his, Melissa is just plain awesome Melissa, d'Artagnan and the Hauptmann sound as distinct as ever (also, cool screech), which together creates the feeling of a choir way bigger than it actually is. I like that.

Imagine if there were a videogame with warrior personas of different metal bands fighting together, and when it's turn for each of them, their songs play in the background. This song would be the main theme.

Hi Tank, if you want to really have your mind blown, there's not only an eGurdy but also a MidiGurdy from a "builder" in Hamburg/Germany. The whole thing is completely electronic and there are no strings and wood at all. Very interesting stuff. Have a great Christmas!

The simplicity of Manowar's music makes it more special. Eric Adams one of the best heavy metal singers ever.
Not a big fan of Manowar these days.. brings back crappy memories.. But this cover is f-ing amazing! Great vocalists with very distinct sounds.
The bagpipe fits surprisingly well in this song. Also love the contrast Melissa is bringing.
Thomas Winkler will be featured in at least one Song on the upcoming Grailknights Album. Also Hodi/Ben is featured on that Album too and that Song is released as the current Single -> look up Grailknights - Turbo Boost
But we will see what he will do next. I doubt that he will be a new full time singer for Feuerschwanz though. Than again I could be wrong. He would fit, especially with the new musical direction of Feuerschwanz (more Powermetal than Folk).
As for Alea/Jörg: If you did not know he filmed in a different location, you can guess that by looking closely on the Scenes where everyone is in. Like the Walk in Scene or the Drone shots. Everyone is in it, except Alea.
Yup, totally noticed that while I was editing, just to see if they CGI-ed him in or something. Haha
Took me a handful of plays to notice that Alea/Jörg is not on common set, but anyways really cool introductory of him for me and had been checking his stuff out now. And it will be interesting what Thomas will be doing, these communities are great way to keep in touch of whats going on.
@@TankTheTech Alea was at the hospital at the time the video was shot. He had pretty bad acute hearing loss.
Wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a part of Feuerschwanz in the future. The make up already fits with the rest of the male band members. Alea is really standing out in the vid, beeing the only man without black eyes.

Man, this is such an fantastic cover, making the song their own while being true to the orginal. Manowar and Warrior of the World spesificly has meaning to me since it was literally the song that made me fan of metal music so its so cool to see such an great cover of the song :D

The Hurdy Gurdy Player Johanna von der Vögelweide
this is an hommage to Walther von der Vogelweide who is considered the most important German-language poet around 1200.
But Vögelweide is a different thing because Weide means Meadow in german and Vögel is the Plural of Birds. vögeln on the other side means making love in german so..... you get the idea.

The Castle is Burgruine Homburg Gössenheim. It is only a 2h drive from Erlangen where Feuerschwanz was founded. I was there a few days bevor the video was made without knowing about it.
They will premiere another video in their stream on New Year's Eve btw.
This song ist amazing Germany has a Lot of good metal bands
all those smiles constantly in the videos, in the "making of" videos too, their interviews too just show how much those guys enjoy what they are doing. All of those deserve way more recognition and way more people to check what they are doing
You said in the intro that most meatalheads have listened to Manowar, except for me 😆. So many bands to listen to and of course i've heard their name a lot but got distracted by other bands, you know how it is. Great song and great reaction!
It's incredible, how every singer is true to their very own style but together they harmonize that good. Awesome arrangement and I'm looking forward to many of the cover songs on memento mori.
Came across the Feuerschwanz cover 2 days ago while browsing CZcams. I like Manowar and Gloryhammer. So thought I'd give it a watch and see what it was like, expecting it to be a so-so cover. BUT..... I was blown away by it. It was PHENOMENAL!!! I agree with everything you said about it. I'm definitely going to check out Feuerschwanz.

As I already commented on the original video: I just LOVE and I MEAN Love, how everybody is just flexing in the end between the verses of the chorus. Hans with his sick guitar riffs, melissa with her beautiful clear vocals, Hodi, Thomas and Alea with their different types of screams... gives me chills every time. Absolutely adore this version just for that part alone!
Edit: Just wanted to add, that I love the symbolism of choosing "warriors of the world united" as the song where they all come together. Maybe it's just me, but feels like exactly the kind of symbolism we and the artists need in these hard times. Coming and standing together and all

Triumph of steel and battle hymns were my most favorite albums, louder than was also good... But than... Maybe I became to old, don't know. I lost my connection and until today, I've never get back to Joey's men.

When speaking on this vs the original I attribute it to this. The original one is a beautifuly cooked steak with a perfect sear and all the things you need in a steak. This version is that same steak but it also has extra seasoning and a side dish. The plain steak is incredible and sometimes that's all I want but other times it's nice to have the extras. I love the original but this has sprinkles of something more and I love that too. Great reaction Tank! You're awesome.

It's really interesting to see all these bands combining metal and medieval instruments nowadays. As a German, my first contact with a similar style was Subway to Sally, so it might be worth checking out for you as well. Their history reaches back to 1992, so they are certainly an inspiration for all the bands in that genre today (at least in Germany)

Absolutely, I havent bought a physical copy of a bands music in a long time. Mostly because a lot of the bands I listen to havent really released much in recent years but your channel has exposed me to so many bands in this genre that I never would have known about.

I love the Hurdy Gurdys made by Alex Zwingmann. He's my Hurdy Gurdy teacher and realy knows everything about the instruments. So sad I can't have one of this masterpieces right now...they are soooooo amazing.
When I did my basic training in the swiss army infantery we always played Warriors of the world on bluetoothspeaker in the back of our APC...It was damn epic and a great time...

Hauptmann was playing such a small part in that, being drowned by all the other voices it kind of doesn't feel like Feuerschwanz at all. But it is an epic song to go into battle to!

Love your work Tank. I found you thanks to the Momento Mori livestream that you did with Feuerschwanz for their release. I love this band. Like you I discovered them during lockdown, also helped that I have been relearning German as well (goal is to move to Austria). I love all their work but they have been definitely going from strength to strength and the latest album is amazing, I find it hard to pick one favourite over another but would probably say Untot Im Drachenboot is my favourite but love all the covers as well (especially this and Blinding Lights). Hope I get to see them live one day either here in the UK or going across to Germany. Keep up the great work

This was great. Even as a cover, this was the first time ever hearing a Manowar song. During the live premiere chat people were talking about awesome hurdy gurdy music like Cellar Darling and I just wanted to shout out vvilderness. They are a atmospheric post-black metal band with hurdy gurdy and their album that came out this year As Above, So Below is amazing.
5:25 - looks like a variation of a "Chapman Stick" , basically a Wide Guitar with both Guitar and Bass Strings side by side and just Pickups at the End without a Body.

looks more like an electrical upright bass to me, less strings and a lot longer and slimmer than a chapman stick. But the board has frets, which is weird for any upright bass.

Video location was once again awesome. All the singers bring so much to this collab, and it fits the songs chorus really well.
