Solar equipment is changing rather quickly. I had to change my design after I signed the contract. Issues come up and there are change orders and I’m locked in and rely on the contractor being fair and reasonable. In many cases it’s hard to compare but most important is the reputation of the contractor.
I had my inverter start making a shorting out sound. Less than a year after getting my system installed 7 years ago. The contractor charged me $600 dollars. For labor to replace the inverter. Which I could have done in about 20 minutes. They wanted to charge me another $180 for for time the technician spent on hold on the phone with the inverter company. I told them it's not my fault you're technician didn't know what he was doing. And they removed it from the bill.
homeowners and renter's alike with open land like myself would prefer a mobile ground mount solution.
A solution where it does not require permitting because its portable or mobile.
A mobile ground mount solution where it can be manufactured in large quantity cheap and solar panels fit into frames- for a plug and play installation.
Hope you don't live in a high wind area or that gets tornadoes or hurricanes, your home owners insurance probably won't cover your losses if you have some mobile type ground mount (on a trailer or other mobile setup) and the trailer and panels slam into your home (or a neighbors home) and cause $thousands in damages. You might get away with building temporary ground mounts out of wood for testing before doing a permanent installation but most all Insurance Companies are going to demand solar panels to be mounted into the ground or on the roof on permanent metal rack mounts to cover them with insurance and they will likely want to look at the installation and may take photos.
Those types of designs have been around for a couple of decades now. Unfortunately they are all very expensive. And as soon as you wire it into your house you still need a permit! 😂😂
Wow......I wish I had seen this before signing my contract. 2 months ago. I signed with Sun Solar, and I questioned the lack of itemized breakdown of cost and equipment. They gave me some bs that I knew was bs but I was already past my cancelation period. All permits are approved. I'm now waiting for installation to be scheduled after Ameren, our power company, comes out to upgrade the transformer. I'm on the hook for a $70k system.
I am going through the second issue right now! The company will not disclose the product list before I sign the dotted line! I am paying cash and they are attempting high pressure deadlines, so I walked away.
Good job, that is absolute garbage. Get a minimum of five bids! That's how crappy these guys are.
@@boblatkey7160 Unfortunately, there are only three companies in my area, so I can only get three :( Also, my main requirement is a Span Smart panel as well and only one company is authorized in my area, so a second :(

So I have a DEEP question: If the contract and especially the financial terms were not fully disclosed then said contract is "null and void"? Have a friend who had install, only panels installed before bankrupt unfinished. Are they still on hook for loan, or are they free from paying anything?
Please make videos related to PPA solar projects.. Or big commercial projects like more than 1 MW

Sounds like solar company installers and energy company cooperation changes much faster than solar and battery technology.
It's all changing very fast. Things will probably look a lot different 5 years from now.

What happens when SolarInsure goes out of business?
Solarinsure is probably not the only 3rd party solar insurers out there, the only negative would be if they are actually repairing your system and go out of business at that same time. Also pay monthly if possible or maybe only 6months (like auto insurance), I would not pay for a year at a time in advance.

@@butette Thats what Joe was talking about when he said its important to find the right installer that you believe will be around for some years but there is no guarantee on who will be around in 30 years (even me or you) for that matter. Good Luck !

It just burns me up that this guy talks this way- as if this channel and all the CZcams solar mumbo jumbo is not RESPONSIBLE for the way people talk about "solar."
If the equipment choice is so important, than why are you constantly reviewing equipment??? Why not just make one damn video with the list. it hasn't changed - it is the same shortlist - but then there's no need for this channel is there?
