To find a good quality Vitamin D supplement for my mom without seed oil I had to avoid a store like Walmart and go to a store like Sprouts to find a good brand. It was either that or buy online.

(I hadn't suspected this at all, thinking these were simply unadulterated wholefoods, with a little salt at worst).

I make my own mayo as a substitute. With low flavor olive oil you can’t tell the difference. Plus if you increase the ratio of egg, it’s even more rich than store bought. The tricky part is mixing the egg yolk and olive oil. You need room temp egg yolks continuously mixed with just a drop of oil until it changes into solid white form then super slowly add oil, otherwise start over. The change is really fascinating to watch. If done wrong it will just be small pieces of egg floating in oil which is pretty gross.

    Here's a ChatGPT summary:
    - Seed oils are found in many food products including processed foods, baked goods, salad dressings, oat milk, and vegan butters.
    - These oils are high in linoleic acid, which is stored in fat cells and prone to oxidation.
    - High consumption of linoleic acid is linked to health issues such as joint pain, back pain, anxiety, depression, and cognitive health concerns.
    - The half-life of linoleic acid in fat tissue is over 680 days, leading to long-term accumulation.
    - The content of linoleic acid in US adults' fat tissue has increased from 10% to around 25% in the last 50 years.
    - Oxidized metabolites of linoleic acid, like 13HP ODE, can increase susceptibility to oxidation in the brain, cell membranes, and LDL cholesterol.
    - The increase in seed oil consumption correlates with increased linoleic acid in adipose tissue, affecting human physiology and pathophysiology.
    - Dietary changes in the US have led to increased consumption of chicken and seed oils, while consumption of beef, pork, butter, and lard has decreased.
    - Adipose tissue linoleic acid has more than doubled in the US over the last half-century.
    - Inflamed fat cells can lead to a cascade of health issues, including insulin resistance and increased risk for chronic diseases.
    - Linoleic acid is the most commonly oxidized species in LDL cholesterol, which is a risk factor for coronary heart disease.
    - High intakes of omega-6 fats from seed oils are associated with depression and poor mental health.
    - Studies suggest that omega-6 fats are linked with increased pain, while omega-3 fats are associated with reduced pain.
    - To reduce intake of linoleic acid, it is recommended to cook food at home and avoid soy oil, corn oil, cottonseed oil, and safflower oil.
    - Main message: High consumption of seed oils rich in linoleic acid is problematic for health, leading to increased fat storage, inflammation, and chronic pain, and it is important to avoid these oils to improve overall well-being.

So even these animal protein sources are compromised because they are unable to process the all grain diets used in factory farming as well as ruminant animals can (although it isn't ideal for ruminants either, just less bad).

The bought "organic" butter burns so easily and you need to use 2x-3x times the amounts to not burn your meat compared to the homemade butter.

That's not good! Does it not say what is included on the product label? I always worry about this - companies (I'm from the US) are so often doing the absolute bare minimum, even engaging in outright trickery and deception to maximize profits. I worry that some products may have ingredients that are not listed at all simply because the manufacturer hasn't been caught yet/can get away with it. Scary.

The un-organic butter here is labelled 70% butter and 30% canola oil which in my opinion shouldn't even be allowed to be called butter but it says 'BUTTER' on the labels. The organic butter just says 'from diary fat' but now days they have many smart technologies to make low fat diary seem like it's full of fat e.g. here we have 0.1% yogurt, it looks like regular fatty yoghurt and people here thinks low fat products are healthy just because it's low fat and then they add in sugar or else it would taste like absolute crap.

But few months ago, i avoided sunflower oil and rapeseed oil. I noticed the lumps are getting smaller. I read everything now. If i see sunflower or rapeseed oil i put it back. I don't eat out. I do miss the occasional kebab takeout. But i want to steer clear away from seed oils for at least a year and see if it helps with this disease. Its not easy.
I enjoy a burger every week but every burger bun i found at supermarkets have sunflower or rapeseed oil. Its frustrating. So instead of buns as burgers i use focaccia that are made with olive oil.
I use garlic mayo made with Avocado Oil. Extra virgin olive oil for cooking. Grass fed ghee. Avocado Oil. Great options.

I stopped eating seed oils about 1.5 years ago, after watching, among others, this channel. I switched to a low carb diet and intermittent fasting in the hope I would sleep better, e.g. by influencing my microbiome. Well, sleeping didn't improve that much, but I don't experience these periods of several hours during the day that I can barely think properly due to fatigue. My interstitial cystitis retreated even further, my prostate is no longer agigated so I can typically sleep through the night without having to pee, and, the occasional pain in my fingers is completely gone, no pre-signals of arthritis. My triglycerids were also halved within a year and LDL went down by 20% so overall, it seems to work. Probably due to a combination of factors, like keto combined with intermittent fasting and severe reduction of seed oil intake, but nonetheless, I feel much better overall, even though I was trained as a scientist to believe otherwise (I participated in several randomized control experiments on the link diet and cholesterol in Wageningen, but then as 'victim').

Late 90’s I started cutting them out. I agree these things are way over consumed. Have not had a bottle of it in my house since then. Nuts are a major source as well. I know a lot of people who avoid the oils but chow down on nuts. But, the dose and what else it’s with is important. I don’t worry about an occasional meal out and if you get a little it will not be the end of the world, you will not puff up in fat or die of oxidation. When I get a Thai stir fry I ask them to use as little as possible. Also, chicken (lean breast) is fine. Even Chris Knobe said not to worry about an occasional meal out if one is not eating all the junk or using it at home. We do have a biochemical requirement for a small amount of these. An occasional drizzle of sesame oil on some Korean bbq is very different that chowing down on McDonald’s hash browns, chicken nuggets and fries, bag of Cheetos, etc.

Like anything else, it will get much easier when you get into the routine, i'd personally avoid going to fast food places/restaurants, as most of them use these oils. Same for pre-prepared meals at most stores, and even some ingredients, for those always remember to check the ingredients and look for said seed and vegetable oils, as well as other unhealthly ingredients as the packages are legally required to show the ingredients. As for alternatives, i know it sounds kinda corny, but you can certainly still make your favorite foods and have them be both healthy and delicious, for the seed/vegetable oil substitutes in particular, don't be afraid to use lard, butter, olive oil, or coconut oil, which is mostly pure, and do your homework to find which fresh ingredients are most accessible to you.

Notice I have been keeping anything with soy out of my diet. Noticed Soy Lechtin is the biggest factor on Digestive System. Since then, finding out making meals at home (non-processed food), bake goods and using vegetable oil, olive oil, and yes bacon lard for biscuits have actually reduced digestive issues that have existed. Cholesterol on all levels have become normal. Never had a problem with blood pressure except low blood pressure (due to the loss of sodium due from chronic pancreatitis). Also found that iodized salt is important for thyroid. A lot of things they say are good for you are not so good. My tolerance for soy is not good and abstain from eating anything with soy. It is sad that most products on the grocery shelves are full of soy causing thyroid, increase in appetite, and obesity.

Wow, I don't usually eat any processed foods anymore but yesterday was a busy shopping day and i ate some chips. Yes, they were cooked in unhealthy seed oils. So, eating chips occasionally will now change to never eating chips. Also, I have Rheumatoid Arthritis. That's why I started eating carnivore. I want to stop hurting and having joint destruction. I've already had 5 joint replacement surgeries. But I always thought of chicken as carnivore and I love to eat chicken as well as beef. I'm wondering if it would be okay to eat chicken if I raised them myself on a non-GMO, soy free diet? Also, if I eat fish I catch myself instead of farmed fish? Going carnivore helps me feel better and I lost 70 pounds but I still have joint pain, swelling, and eczema. Maybe it takes a long time to get the linoleic acid out of me. Hmmm

It's part of the low carb hustle. This thing just keeps being reinvented as an old iteration falls out of favor. Now low carb seed oils are bad for you.
The bottom line is that no one has ever proven that calories in vs calories out isn't a fairly good predictor of weight.
And knowing this, it makes no sense to focus a diet on calorie dense foods, which invariably low carbers do when they focus on meat and even worse, lard, beef tallow etc. Unless someone is obese, they aren't going to improve their weight and health significantly eating this way.
Like little kids who refuse to eat their fruits and veggies. Eventually I just bit the bullet and learned to work with and like eating low fat mostly vegetarian foods. Nothing heavily processed, no are oils, no deep frying potatoes to get my veg in lol. Just cutting out the high calorie BS. A pile of bacon will never be a health food. A greasy pile of bundles cheeseburgers will never be a health food. It is what it is.

@@candorsspot2775 How about you get your calories from water hemlock, fox glove, etc and see how that works out for you. Obviously, some plants and plant components are toxic. Concentrating components from inedible components (grape seeds, cotton seeds, etc) is a poor basis for arguing all calories are the same.
