    I wish I had seen this a few years ago. My panther boy was having his teeth cleaned for the first time ever and he was maybe 12 yrs old, under anesthetic. The vet doing the procedure called me part way through and told me Bud has gum line cavities on 3 of his teeth, beside the fangs and they needed to be pulled. I gave the ok. Bad decision. He was in a lot of pain and was not healing. He developed a lump, abscess, on one side. He couldn't eat. I took him back in, they had to put him out again to see what was going on. (He turns into a wild full size panther at the vets)So, 2 anesthetics in 2 weeks. The vet found he left the 3 roots in the gum and they were all festering. I was so angry! When you pull teeth, how do you leave the roots behind?! He got better after that but became hyperthyroid. Sadly, so sadly passed in Sept. '21 at 14 yrs old. This was not my regular vet who does holistic work as well that I have known for 35 yrs. This guy was a nightmare for me and my boy and he knows it. Thankyou for all the info you are putting out there.

      @dreamgaits Před rokem +3

      So so sorry this happened to you. As a former vet tech I can tell you the vet did not leave those roots and probably never even touched his mouth. Were I worked the techs, no matter how much training they had, did the dentals and the tooth pulling. FYI most treatments done at the vet are done by techs.

    • @tanana2070
      @tanana2070 Před rokem +4

      @@dreamgaits Really. So a vet tech maybe did this to my boy. He gave me the roots that whoever took out. Bud was never the same. Who does the surgeries? A vet or vet tech?
      My Border will be 2 in Sept and I may or may not have her spayed. My real vet doesn't want to spay her until she's sure she's fully adult.

    • @dreamgaits
      @dreamgaits Před rokem +2

      Vets do surgery, techs do pretty much everything else. They prep, do the anesthesia...everything but the surgery. If you don't have good techs you don't have a good vet office.

      @@dreamgaits Wow... really sad; we place our trust in Vets and their expertise of knowledge and schooling; then to hear this? shameful; not that we dislike you techs, but we are trusting the care of our furbabies in the Vet's knowledge and skills, not you. i will put my trust in the Lord God Almighty! who will give me discernment and guide my steps. Shame on the Vet Medical system nowadays! they will stand before the Creator one day soon...then what?! Fear the Lord!

    • @dreamgaits
      @dreamgaits Před rokem +2

      @@laurienordin2076 Hi Laurie, No offense taken. I am no longer a tech. That was many years ago. But that is how it is done. Low level treatments, dentals, vaccines, surgical prep, anesthesia is in the hands of the techs. If they take the dog out of your site for anything, or you drop your dog off for treatment you can bet it isn't the vet doing it.

  • @dreamgaits
    @dreamgaits Před rokem +19

    So irritating to me that vets are now recommending yearly anesthesia dentals. $$$$$$ is all that is about and so dangerous for the dog.

    • @veganvocalist4782
      @veganvocalist4782 Před 3 měsíci +2

      and that is coming from an experienced Vet tech , I agree totally , bet your glad your no longer involved in this unethical business . Good to know some of you care .
      I no longer use the vets as they always charged for NOT doing their job, that wasted money now goes towards natural remedies that HAVE worked and at a fraction of the cost

    Could you do one on heart disease and what to give them for coughs
    Thank you she is on 9 meds a day and robitussin when needed

      Hi Joannpergakis4183, Thank you so much for subbing and welcome to my pack. I am not a vet so I can't speak to this. I am a breeder and a dog trainer. I can't advise treatments for your dogs condition. I would suggest a specialist and not just your local vet taking care of your dog. Vets will rarely suggest a specialist so you have to request one. Nine drugs a day? Consult a canine cardiac specialist.

    Dental Question -
    Are tennis balls bad for tooth enamel? I heard the fuzz is too abrasive. My dog lives for tennis balls. But if it’s destructive to his enamel I will quit giving him tennis balls.

    • @oldmexicanwoman159
      @oldmexicanwoman159 Před 5 měsíci

      Tennis balls did wear down the teeth of my JRTs. The breeder or the vet warned us about that. I believe it’s true.

    The thing I do not understand about the Teef product is that is contains baking soda. I am not sure how much baking soda dogs should be ingesting. I thought it is alkaline and not good for the stomach acids. So depending on how much the dog drinks it may be too much. The first ingredient is soluble fiber. What on earth is that and what does it do? It also contains vitamin A. I would not be using this product.

    • @Jadamson321
      @Jadamson321 Před rokem

      Stomach acid doesn't change PH level with the food that you eat - it doesn't for humans and it doesn't for dogs. It's a myth.
