Michael Bolton saw this performance and called it "virtuoso performance" and invited her to his concert in Korea for a duet. and they sung "prayer" & "lean on me"

This performance single handedly won the Banff World Music Award for this show.
I think the chest high note was purposeful so she could use her mix at the end. The prior high notes although to you sounded thinner but there was definitely more color variation to those notes. Her last note was open, broader for a finale IMHO.🤩You are right about her arrangement strategy and its pull on the audience.

Analysis of your expertise is very good Sohyang Queen 👑👑👑
You are so familiar with Sohyang that you are not even surprised or impressed that she belted out chest that Bb and yet she surprises us so many different ways that you forgot about her pattern and probably she did chest because the mix was coming. She performed this song many times after recovering from Pneumonia, but she can't quite hit this note the way she did here although she has still no problem hitting the last note with mix. You would treasure that chest voice of that note if you listen to other performances. Sohyang probably knows this and yet she still belts out chest for that note. That's more important to her than making the sound a little better.
There was no pushing or strain on that Bb5 and it WAS in mixed voice, not chest voice.

You might want to listen to her singing “Misty”. This song gives you more of her jazzy side. This shows that can literally sing any songs in any genre and still kill it. She is a complete package. Also to get the full So Hyang experience, people needs to see her perform rather than just listen. This is because she has such a great stage presence that if you don’t watch sing, you almost missing half of the full experience.
So Hyang is an angel.

Heck yeah a good one to react to. Haven't watched yet but there's musical bliss in Breathe, Home and Mona Lisa from masked singer. Fate from I am singer. Misty from begin again korea. Breathe Home, Fate and Misty are the types of performances where you can listen to them several times as they aren't too belty like some might get. Just magical. The head voice stuff in breathe and home is just great. Well and yeah Misty is stupid great.

For an idea how much you should do the masked singer ones just watch her Day Day from that one without even recording. She's got some serious variety on that show and some of the best from there namely Breathe... and Home too. Breathe has made the most recent two reactors to it tear up. Also that Misty from begin again korea she's even got one of the other singers next to her in tears. Those are just some incredible and top of Sohyang's level. Seriously do the masked ones, so great.

If I remember right, she was sick with a respiratory infection on this performance. That may be why she saved her mix to the last.

Actually, that's You Raise Me Up which almost didn't happen. She probably sang with faith that Jesus raises her up. Lean On Me was her first performance on Immortal Songs and You Raise Me Up was the last due to Pneumonia until this year.

Have you listened to the Harvard Opportunes "Hard Place" with the soloist Devan. Girl, you are not ready for what you will hear. Nobody is when they hear this the first time. It's other worldy especially from the middle to the end. Please, please, please review this song.
Great reaction. I disagree with you about her high note at the climax being thin… I think that it’s because she added a lot of vocal breaks and flips in between each note of that belted run that she did, so that it gave it even more brightness and thinness from the quick head voices. I think you’re so that used to listening to Morissette with her warm tone on every note that you think that’s some thing different than that is strained.
This is SOHYANG we’re talking about. She already has a naturally high voice. There’s no way that was too high for her to belt in her chest voice.
Also isn't it impossible to literally execute a Bb5 in chest, unless you're highly skilled like a gospel singer

Variety. Chest belt in the middle while her best strength mix belt was saved for last. She is the Queen of Mix Voice after all...she saved the best for last. If it was mix belt in the middle and mix belt in the end or chest belt in the middle and chest belt again at the end......it is not showcasing her versatility....she has options and she uses them in the right places.

The Bb5 is 100% mixed and not her chest voice. There has never been a vocal coach, teacher or just a reactor who claims that's chest. Love your reaction though. This program is meant to make an unusual version. She sings the traditional version a lot.

Back home after a Brilliant concert, I wanted to check for videos. And I stumbled onto a video from a Queen concert a few days earlier, in Bologna, Italy.
On that occasion Adam Lambert sang Puccini's "Nessun Dorma".
