  • Firstly, I want to thank Hidizs for supplying the MP145 and the new S9 Pro Plus Martha for review.
The MP145 and Martha are two new products from Hidizs.
The MP145 is a new planar magnetic in ear monitor, with a 14.5mm large planar driver, housed in an all aluminium shell.
The S9 Pro Plus Martha, is a new DAC dongle from Hidizs, which adopts the ESS DAC chip.
The ES9038QM2 DAC chip in the Martha, pays back high resolution, up to 32 bit DSD files.
Shout out also to my fellow audio review tour group members here in Australia, who have taken on this audio review tour with me.

I think you can’t beat the MP145 for the price. They’re half the price of the S15, that makes them a steal. Super underrated planar iem. I love them and they’re my daily drivers with the S9 Pro Plus Martha. It’s a great pairing.

They walk all over the S15 in terms of tuning, much smoother, and still with good technical planar like resolution too.

The fit has been a consideration for me with the MP145 but not a major concern. I can accommodate the Truthear Red and CCA Rhapsody without issue and there are quite a few complaints about their size (either nozzle or total size in the case of Rhapsody). I know you can only speak about your experience but there appears to be some evidence that Hidizs may have knowingly altered the tuning of the their retail units after their fundraising campaign performing a bait and switch of sorts. Michael Bruce has a video originally praising a review unit and then retracting his rec after he bought a few himself to mod. I hope Hidizs wouldn't intentionally try to deceive their customers but, unfortunately, there does seem to be a significant amount of unit variance in retail models, in any case. 😔 Sorry for the rambling and thank you for another great review! 👍

It’s actually pretty comfortable. The zero seems more tight fitting, probably because it has the ridge on the nozzle. It’s not heavy either like the oh10, it’s about as heavy as the s12…maybe ever so slightly heavier. The fit is very ergonomic once you get the hang of it. The earhooks are made for elephant ears though haha, but a heat gun will fix that.

Both the original and the revision are available on Amazon NA. The only way you can tell the difference is the price and the "date first available" so for the OG it is $159 with a $20 coupon and a release date of November 16, 2023. The revision is $199 with a $61 coupon and a release date of January 15, 2024. They've even switched the promo materials which show the revision being attached to the whale conservation charity. Listen, this is some super shady shit they are pulling. Its really a turn off. And if it is not on purpose, then they have some serious marketing issues. Either way it comes off as at least dishonest, if not malicious. Basically it put this set on the bottom of my "must get" list, and I am not even sure I will get them, but if I do, it will be the original release. And if its gone by the time I decide, im not going to lose any sleep over it.

@@BassDad8 I’m glad I got the og version, kinda odd that they are selling both. Is this for sure? I mean how different are they honestly? 1db in the upper mids?

Real enough for Michael Bruce to retract his recommendation. And verified by HBB. That’s enough proof for me. It would be nice if Hidizs actually said something… like anything… hello?

@@BassDad8 I appreciate the info on the different options on Amazon. I agree, their questionable contribution to saving whales on kickstarter to the current unit differential has been a disaster. I think I'll pass on these at this point. I have a few planars already but this one looked promising to start with.

Those earhooks are made for backwards ears it seems lol. A heat gun will fix it though, but I find it stable without a tight earhook so I never bothered.

Yeah, the ear hooks only just sit behind my ear, and I have pretty big ears. 👂😅

Is that a laptop fan going nuts in the background? lol. I like the mp145 (kickstarter version) quite a bit, I’ve only used the rose gold filter though, I’ve got spiral dot tips on mine. Mine came with a brown cable, also the blue version.

Kind of wish I'd bought the MP145 on kickstarter. 🫤 I'm not a big fan of kickstarter though. MP145 seems a bit risky now. A lot of options that have a more consistent tuning for the $.

Do you know if the mp145 unit you received is the original or the revised version? I'm still thinking about getting the original kickstarter set, which has been very well reviewed, but I havent seen anyone review the revision... and it is more expensive...

I couldn't say, they look like every other set I've seen photos of..
I don't have any others to compare them with sorry.
