    There is a reason there are gender based separation in competitive sports,males are biologically stronger so how is this fair to the other females competing?
    This is taking the phrase "its a mans world" to another level.Instead of finding an actual space for trans individuals in sports, allowing a trans person to compete with biological females is unfair.Its not backyard sports just for fun,this is competitive,and a team that wants to win will take only strong players.If more trans athletes show up,wont more women lose their opportunities?Only biological gender should be considered in sports,otherwise its an injustice to the other people competing.

You've never been in the situation. You may not even be an athlete. The amount of blood, sweat, tears, and time it takes to be great is incomprehensible. Even if she lost some muscle after estrogen therapy, she is still benefits from her origin male body. For example, she may have lighter and smaller hip joint. By the way, the angle between pelvis and femur also affects athletes' performance and it is one of the reason why in average males run faster than females. I think estrogen therapy can't change someone's hip joint size, the angle of pelvis as well as height. To be honest, I don't think it's fair.

      Actually, transgender woman need to have their testosterone levels equal to cis (thus not transgender woman)... and having quite a lot of transgender woman as friends, they all told me the same thing: once on Testosterone blockers and on oestrogene therapy they became a hella lot weaker, even when they still did sports. So yeah, probably that's she's about as strong as the average olympic woman.

    • @MmMm-og2cv
      @MmMm-og2cv Před 6 lety +34

      Testosterone blockers does not take away everything. On average, men have longer and larger bones, which gives them mechanical advantages over women, since they have greater leverage, increased height and larger frames to support muscle. Their bones are also more dense, and they have tougher ligaments, making them less prone to sports injury.
      Since these physical and physiological factors give most men a clear competitive edge in sports, is it fair or even safe for biological males - with larger muscle mass, hearts and lungs and greater strength, acceleration and speed - to compete against girls and women? And the olympics is the worlds biggest sports competition, do you even know how hard it is to compete in it. The avarage olympic woman can wipe the floor with these collage students.

      What's your point? Of course there are shorter men and taller women, I am also a 5' 10" guy, but that has NOTHING to do with transgenders in sports. If you are a short guy who wants to play pro basketball, you are out of luck, because they only pick the tallest and strongest players to give their team the advantage. And if you are a 7' woman, you are also out of luck, because the best men's basketball players will beat the best women's players every single time. And if you chop off your male genitals and take estrogen, it doesn't make you a woman, it just makes you a low testosterone infertile man on hormones.

So competing as a gender you transitioned into makes you completely different from the rest of the field and gives you an unfair advantage. And mainly, if transgenders can complete without transitioning it's even more unfair, since their body is basically the opposite gender of the rest od the field, making a great advantage.

    So, although yes her bone mass is different to biological females’, her position in volleyball also very much determines wether it is unfair or not. If she is a setter, all she’s doing is setting, and bumping to another team member, for them to attack. If she’s a libero, all she’s going to be doing is saving the ball, and being defensive. If she’s an attacker, then yes that’s where she’ll be at an advantage since as an attacker, you have to spike the ball as hard as you possibly can, so that the opposite team cannot hit it. If she’s a setter, her power really won’t matter, and she’ll be hitting the ball about 4-6 times every 3 mins. If she’s a libero, she’ll only be hitting the ball to other teammates and saving it, 7-9 hits every 3 mins. If she’s an attacker, she’ll be spiking the ball down, 8-10 times every 3 mins. I feel as if they should allow her to play, but put her on a more defensive role, such as libero. I’m a cis female, I’m on my school’s team and I’m an attacker, I wouldn’t mind if I went against a trans female, but that’s just my opinion.

    I am 100 percent for Transgender rights, always will be. But as a volleyball player myself, I'm kind of in a gray area, I don't really know how to feel about allowing transgender athletes to compete with the gender they transition into. It's no question that she has technique, you can see when they slow down her snap in hitting and her bow and arrow in serving, but there's no changing that power. As good as a player that I think I am, playing against men is completely different, especially in volleyball. Hitting is all about arm strength and jumping. A man biologically has the advantage. Most of their hits go straight to the floor and quick too. Their serves are bullets. It takes a lot of training on the court and in the gym to get there for girls and some still can't achieve the things that she is doing almost effortlessly. I'm really sorry if this is ignorant of me and if it is, I'm open to learning what I'm not getting.

      She did say that when she started taking the hormones, her body started to turn more feminine. She lost most of her "man muscles", she got wider hips and started getting more fat in her body. You can clearly see her body is visually more feminine than masculine (with the exception of her height, which is not that much since I've competed against even taller women lol). I understand where you're coming from since I've seen men play, and they're on a whole other level. They're stronger and faster by default. But I honestly don't think they'd let Chloe compete if she had much of an advantage over the other girls. The hormones helped her change her body to be more feminine, and that includes her strength, so she's just as strong as most of the other girls. I think it's very unfair to allow transgender atheles especially transgender women to compete with biological women. They will have an unfair advantage. I'm a sprinter and would race my male friends who was medicore for boys in terms of sprinting but they will always beat me as men on average are faster, stronger etc... We can't just through biology out of the window

  • @jdavid413
    @jdavid413 Před 7 lety +113

    It's basic biology that the composition of men's bodies are typically stronger (muscle mass, bone mass, daily required nutrient intake, etc.), than females. You can go through all the surgeries and take all the pills you want, but that doesn't change your DNA. After spending years studying the human body in college and seeing more examples of blatant ignorance for science like this video, it's unbearable. The fact this has unfortunately made its way into the world of volleyball, the sport my parents have been coaching for 30+ years and one of my biggest passions, is another sign the sporting world will be ruined at the competitive level unless we put our foot down.

    • @jenniferjohnson4402
      @jenniferjohnson4402 Před 6 lety +12

      JD Smith after surgery their bone mass and Teststerone is lower than biological females. You need to study more because I learned that in my first year of endocrinology, and please read about dax1 and foxl2, deletion of those genes can change your dna.

    • @MmMm-og2cv
      @MmMm-og2cv Před 6 lety +6

Men also tend to have larger internal organs. This sounds like a disadvantage for sprinters, but larger lungs and heart result in more oxygen uptake. The more oxygen you can take in, the more that can be transported to your muscles. VO2max measures an athlete’s maximum oxygen uptake. It’s higher in men than it is in women, even for men and women that have the same body mass and equivalent lean muscle mass. Biologically, men have a higher VO2max, all other things being equal.
      Maybe it is you that needs to study more selene. A simple google search got me all this.

    • @jenniferjohnson4402
      @jenniferjohnson4402 Před 6 lety +7

      you googled this lol i can goolge alot of things online too, including things that are false, no educated person with a degree in anything we trust such a simple tool as google to try an educate someone on a complicated topic as biology, my info comes from books child, books by established doctors and scientist, and your uneducated fool, because androgens and testosterone manage your bones, organs, brain, blood cells, and even oxygen for life, if those hormones change your blood will start to become thinner, your bones will become weaker, muscle are never the same, oxygen levels change, and your unable to run like a biological man because O2 uptake is lower. You would know this if your read an actual book instead of agreeing with anything any stupid person writes online.

    • @GoddessBlueYozakura7
      @GoddessBlueYozakura7 Před 6 lety +2

      No these things don't change so drastically. Sure maybe after 40 years there will be a change but not a few years in. I mean listen to their voice? They still sound like a man. That didn't change and bone density, ligaments and bone structure isn't going to just fall apart in a few years. If that were the case a trans person would be in incredible pain. Once puberty happens things change that can't be undone. This is why trans Fallon Fox broke the orbital bone and cracked the head open of Tamika Brents. There hasn't been such a horrible life threatening injury in female MMA before. Every biological male that has transitioned after puberty has dominated women's physical sports from weight lifting to track to the point of breaking records time and time again.

    • @jenniferjohnson4402
      @jenniferjohnson4402 Před 6 lety +3

      GoddessBlueYozakura it really just depends on your genetics, fallon fox also lost to a biological female as well and read about transgender bone density it drastically changes to the point of being lower than biological females, some can pass well, some cannot, it comes down to your hormones, genetics, and overall bone structure, caster who is an intersex runner in the Olympics beats all the women there, and people tried to boycott her as well, but if your levels are within female limits or below you should be able to compete.

If the trans person is male to female, they will loose muscle and have same percentage of fat that any cis women has. Technicaly their strenght decreases. Not to downplay the toll it takes on someone who lives with a gender identity disorder, much less the struggle of someone who undergoes transition, but no matter what, this will be spun as such by some... BUT...
    If you are born XY, you are not a woman, will never be a woman regardless of hormone therapy or surgery. You may feel like one, and if that makes you happy, I am happy you have found peace in this life, as it is a long, arduous journey. The facts are, you are still XY.
    To disguise your body to accommodate your feelings seems to be a total wash for everything women have worked for to establish their own organizations which they can be competitive. At this point, if this kind of inclusion into "gender-based" sports continues, we may as well just go co-ed.... again, what would the point be?
