Ratboys' newest album GN is the band's most focused and intriguing release to date. Though some songs were written almost 5 years back, there's an undeniable freshness to the collection that reflects a succinct, forward-moving vision. it's the minimal compression & the room. no matter what anyone else says, its the minimal compression and the size and design of the room.
I discovered Ratboys at a Pup show where they were opening and instantly fell in love with the sound of the band.

these guys are absolutely my favorite band. had the pleasure of meeting them at a house party in gothenburg, sweden. crying about the planets is a song that has so much meaning to me. 10/10

My new favourite band with the new album ( I'm 2 years late to this), and whilst I do sense the country/folk vibe, I'm also hearing lo-fi. Reminds me of Swirlies and Seana Carmody's solo album.
Have really been enjoying their latest record. Record store clerk suggested it, and so far it is a great summer soundtrack. Glad for the suggestion.

Ratboys are exciting the way the Pixies were when they started out.
In "Wandered" they mentioned a folky influence, but I'm hearing a lot of Alice In Chains vibes from it. Might just be the mixolydian thing tho lol.
