- Master H-D Tech, Jamie Myers, goes into the details on his new 2021 Road King Special and how he set it up for his preferences. Jamie is a "serial buyer" of motorcycles so he has been through a bunch over his life time. After a career of working on them as a technician and riding countless hours on and off road he shares with us his customizations that make his perfect Road King Special.

Awesome build! I am happy that I was able to do some internship hours with the "Master" during the suspension swap to Wilbers and once again, it was a pleasure to watch, how dedicated the Laidlaw*s tech crew is working on bikes-not only their own ones.
Hey Stefan! Thanks for helping with the wilbers!
@@TH3G0ODGUY I enjoyed, to learn from the best!
After test riding all bikes in the Harley lineup, this is the best riding bike of them all. I love my batwing fairing for looks and weather protection but there is a riding difference. I would do just like Jamie did. Get a special with the 114, upgrade the suspension and lights. Then do a Stage 2 torque cam. That's all you need for all around riding.
I have the R.K. too. I did the Relocation of the Oil filter. You dont want to be cooking your oil filter from the radiant heat coming off the fin. Just makes things cook. Im a stage two and dyno complete. My M8 107 has now 103 hp. Its perfect now.
It’s hard for me to dislike any of these builds. It’s cool because they all have their own individual style, but yet all those styles are so dope that I’d be happy to have any of them.
I am a huge fan of the Road King Special.
My favorite I have owned.
Hooah
That Deadwood Green has really grown on me. It looks great on that bike.
There need to be more dark green bikes like this. My god it looks cool
Like your attention to detail on all your builds clean simple, and packing a nice punch👍
Jamie switches bike more times than a Kardashian switches husbands. Great video Matt! Always enjoy Road King build videos.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Excellent choice though, I'm head over heals with my Road King Special, twisted cherry though. And I love my Wind Splitter as well. I'm developing a set of brackets to mount it to my rear rack quick connect location for when I want to putt around town at my destination stripped down.
Don’t forget Khris Jenner as will
#metoo….every year i swap bikes. Most of times due to serious problems…
I just bought the 2021 low rider s, but everytime I see these baggers they are starting to grow on me. 👍🙏
Been waiting for this video! Glad Jamie was able to share his thoughts and seeing the awesome video of his RKS!
Enjoyed you sharing your mindset on each of the items and your rationale for each decision. Thank you, be and ride safe.
I like that xtra tail lamp on bottom of fender. Wish H-D would make one like that for the BreakOut.
I ordered this windshield for my 2016 Road King a couple of days after seeing yours in the ride to Yosemite! I picked it up yesterday at Orlando H-D! Can’t wait to put it on and take a ride.
Be interested to know your thoughts on it
@@richardcatania5086 Hi Richard. After 148 miles of Highway and lower speed twisty roads I am very happy with this windshield! My original one was 18 by 23.1 and this one is 16 by 20.3 inches. I can feel a lot more air going through my arms and my helmet but not very strong - a plus in hot central Florida. No heavy air on my chest and helmet. Going 75 mph I placed my hand with the palm facing forward in front of my chest and moved it up and down. The strong air flow only starts when my hand moves over my helmet. This windshield leans back much more than the original and I wonder if this is going to improve my fuel economy. I will add a comment after I have the chance to calculate that. I am 5-7 and no buffeting!
@@sergiomendes351 ok thanks for the info. I’m 5’8 so similar height.
Love the Windsplitter. 5’9” with a full and 3/4 helmet I get all buffeting above 55 mph with the vent closed. 3/4 open or more is fine.
Love that color combination with the blacked-out 114. Nice mix for short and longer rides too.
Beautiful bike and awesome build. 5’6 rider here as well on a 2020 FXLRS. Had to modify suspension as well, I know the struggle. Between that a step up seat and a stage 2 I’m incredibly satisfied and love every minute of it.
It’s a journey with a Harley, the road, the build, the potential. It evolves with you.
Hi Dexter at 5'6" did you move the brake pedal & toe shifter controls from forward to mid controls or did the forward controls work.OK for you.. Thanks
@@coralparadise323 the FXLRS comes stock with mids
@@dextersuarez9948 Sorry may I asked before thinking, I thought also had a FLHRXS Riak King Special.
This guy is all over the place. His heritage was still one of the dopest I ever seen
Great video. Thank you Jamie for sharing your build. Nice to see how height challenged people mod the touring frame. Excellent!
Christ! Why have I watched this?! I wanted to buy regular Road King for few months... and now having seen Jamie's Special I am in DOT. Absolutely amazing kit of fun Jamie! Brilliant additions on it too!!
This is a great build thanks for sharing!
Road King Crew!!!!
Awsome Bike man. Yep, all roads lead to baggers for sure. I got tired of wearing a backpack that kept getting heavier and heavier. Moved to a street glide and never looked back. Ride safe.
The best pure Harley videos that show upgrades and the riders love for riding! Keep on with the videos?
I have a RKS ‘23 and changed the handlebars also. I put 14” ape on it and is day and night difference! This with SE Street Cannons with Diag4Bike tune. You have a great color 👍🏼
Deadwood green is a beautiful color. Nice bike!
Just traded my 2018 FLHC for a barely used 2021 Road King Special, and talk about a great decision. Did some Rinehart DBX slips, bars, CVO style seat, FOX rear suspension, LEDs and a windshield. Love the hell out of it, it tracks so much better than the heritage.
At the beginning of 2020 i ended up with a Heritage 114 because i liked Jamies take on his from the old video. I only had that 10 months before I traded up to the Deadwood Green RKS that i got before videos were released that he had bought one. The heritage was a great bike but the Road King wins for me
Sick per usual. Fellow RK ridah! Like the setup.
My current bike is a 2004 RD King custom Efi Twin cam 88 love it some day i would like to have the RD king special and still keep the other one and pass that along to my son love what u have done to your bike !!!!!!
I've got a 03 se roadking and it's set up to cut the wind and it's an amazingly comfortable and easy bike to ride.
My dream bike. Love those grips.
Cool bike, color fits and the black theme. I've got a gold 03 SE Roadking with a klockwerks windshield and HD fork wind deflectors and it's amazing how much wind it blocks. It's handles better than the 4 ultra classics I've had . 👍
Cool to see the Deadwood green on a Road King! 🤘🤘🤘
love the wilbers ! Street glide
It's nice to see your first upload was 11 years ago from 1k view to 125K hard work always pays off, thanks
I just got a deadwood green heritage. obsessed with the color. great video. got some great ideas for mods. thanks!
Like your bike, in particular the Deadwood Green painting. I own the same bike in same color with some other adjustments. I‘ve put the original Road King Passing Light bar inkl. the turning lamps on it, added LED passing lamps and powder coated it. I have also powder coated the mounts of the windsplitter. Saw in your video first time the fork-mount wind deflectors and ordered them right now. Again, nice bike. Take care.
That Deadwood Green is such a great color! Ride free.
Just a great video. Thanks for taking us along for the build.
I love the color I'm just a Disable Veteran out of the United States army and after almost 20 years I still like OD green.
I got a RK M8 3 weeks ago. While getting the bike ready, the service department guys said that's what most of them ride. They said mostly it's because it does short hops & long hauls equally well. I have to agree, the RK really is a Goldilocks bike for me.
Very beautiful and classy bike !
Beautiful combinaison coloris! Military green and black, here glossy, but in mat finish would be fun too ! Then LEDS lightning good
Road King Special is awesome, nicely setup too...
same w the fork deflectors! I’ve had a road glide for a couple years and I still love the road king with a. Windshield and fork deflectors much better. Once I got over the look I’ll never take them off
Awesome build man! Enjoy!
Thanks to all in sharing Jaimie's new ride.
beautiful ride and tasteful mods. Thanks
This is a nice setup. Please do more master tech bikes, good concept.
Will do!
Absolutely gorgeous bike. Thanks for sharing.
This is pretty much the same bike/build I own. Very nice.
Peter Petrelli? just messin' man nice vids fellas!
Hot damn I need a road king ! 20k on my 14 sand camo fatbob . I oughta make the trip out and trade .
Digging the mods, beautiful bike and I like the way the vid was produced.
Love the build!!!
Thanks for video! You got new moustache!! Anyway great details on bike and sounds great too 💯👊🏼
Great looking bike and the color is fantastic!
Love that color - one of my favorites.
Powdercoat the windsplitter brackets black... did mine, looks way better.
“All Roads Lead to a Bagger…” #Preach!
That windshield definitely goes with it
I’ve made a lot of similar changes to my 2019 RKS - suspension, windshield, lights, bars, seat (I’ve also added a Jekyl & Hyde exhaust) - I’m taller (6’2”) so my set-up and choice of suppliers is different but I couldn’t be happier with the ride now. Previously had a Fatboy Special but find the RKS handles motorway (freeway) conditions/speeds much easier.
Super cool looking Road King! Great color and options. It is the best value $ per $ in the HD line up.
Congrats, beautiful bike! I have the ‘21 SGS in denim Sherwood green. Cheers from Denver:)
This ones a saver! Thanks Jamie!
nice set up..i really like this bike..
beautiful bike
Harley - Davidson Number 1.🌎🏍🇺🇸🦅
#Freedom.🗽❤
The no-chrome all black looks wicked dude. I'm looking to get a 2007 ultra classic. It's white with chrome all over. I want to turn all the chrome to black, like your bike.
Beautiful motorcycle!
Love those side views while your rolling
I would love to know more about the handlebars. Most aftermarket bars are too wide.
Beautiful bike sir.
What a great video. Great looking bike, and its currently on my short list. I enjoy see what people at the dealership ride.
Thanks for watching!
The road came one of the best in the The holiday Davidson Lineup Thanks for the video take care
Thanks for watching.
Sweet ride
I had a 2019 RGU and traded it in for the same bike. The rks is just so much better at about everything.
The fork wind deflectors are nearly required on these bikes to smooth the air flow. Does sound like it took more than a thousand dollars to get the bike up to spec. I am always surprised at how poor the suspension in on the tour line; owned both a 2016 Street Glide and 2017 Road King. Hopefully with the success of the PA it will lead Harley to modernizing the frame and suspension of the tour bikes, the changes to the Softail line were like night and day
I'm from Texas but learned to ride in California - I wish Texans respected riders like California
Enjoy this review 👍
Looks good thanks for sharing. I would like to get a similar windshield and those fork mounted wind deflectors for my Indian Springfield Dark Horse.
I have a similar windshield and wind deflectors on my RK and it works amazing
Good a looking bike, I just traded in my Dyna for a 2022 road king everything you said about it is true. Love the video and details for thing you like when you ride. As for lane spliting i am in florida we do not have that, I would be a little nerous because of all the tourists visiting drive like shit! lol take care
Thats a masterpiece 👏
Sweet bike dude 🤘🏻
man. i wanna get a bagger some day but im a smaller guy. this gave me a whole lot of options i didnt even know were options
don't let being small sway you from the bike you want I'm small to 5.5 150 pounds I got a RKS only time you feel the weight if your walking it backwards. take a swing around where it is your going to set the bike. And put it in the best spot for you to ride out. if you cant get it in don't put it there. this has saved me so many times. be safe.
Amaaaaazing bike !!!
Looks good man! Got my RKS repainted in Dead GG Allin paleface pearlescent metallic white and need to get new bars like yours and adjustable levers. 😎🤘🏻
More motor is a must
Sweet choice congrats be safe and have fun
Could you give a link to the handle bars? I replaced my stock, and still not comfortable,
Love the color. I have a CVO RK- AWESOME RIDE/FEEL……BEST BIKE BUILT✔️
Great bike! I just bought one myself. What is the part number of the front and rear turn signals?
They are super nice bikes.
Hello Hello. Beautiful bike. Could you publish all the upgrades done to this awesome bike. I would love to give it to my local HD dealer up here in Canada the list with the right names and SKUs to help price out and build my new 2022 HD RK Special. Great videos!
I love this video I bought the same bike in black and will be making some of the same upgrades or mods
I have a 2021 Road King Special with a 16" Harley windshield. I recently watched some videos of the fork mounted wind deflectors which caught my attention. Looked them up on Harley's on-line parts ordering site. They say that they do not fit the FLHRXS. A guy even asked that question and whoever responded from Harley gave their usual B.S. answer! Jamie obviously made them fit. Is powder coating black the only issue?
Did u ever buy them. I have a 23 and want them but like you say the fit charts say no go
Very well done 👍🏼 I had to decide between the RKS or the RGS . I went with the RGS , but I sometimes wonder ...
Short Rider here as well. It was a challenge to get my new RG dialed in for me. Even the Kick stand was a challenge the first day! My cousin has a RG and kept telling me I should of gotten something different! I wasn't going to give up! But every change fits that much better! I still love it! On long rides, I like to clean my bike up quickly if its bad at stops too. What do you use on the road to quick clean the bugs and other places? Thanks Mike from Bama
Beautiful road king! 💀
Thank you for a great review! Nice job!
Great looking bike. Congratz!
Nice.. awesome set up
I’m diggin it!!👍 Have a 2020 RK standard, with fork mounted lower fairing ( fangs ) . I’m 170lbs. 🤔 on stock suspension now, was thinking about Wilbers. Self leveling with fork springs or just rear shocks?
Great bike you built. I like the idea of wind deflectors, what helmet is that your wearing in the video.
