As a Rangers fan, I was ecstatic but as a hockey player, that close up of the Canes goaltender Kochetkov breaking down really hit hard. I felt for that man in that moment.
As a canes fan I appreciate your approach to all these videos (level headed and not a mockery of the opposing team). As many have pointed out below and to continue on with that thread the big problem has been an inability to score on the power play. Heck even getting a shorthanded goal scored on us last night was a dagger. Then as far as our penalty kill which was also great during the regular season has started to come alive, but it is likely too little too late. Aside from that the canes seem to struggle with getting it in the back of the net during the playoffs, which has been a reoccurring theme year after year. Separately, some of our players just seem to be more interested in shooting ourselves in the foot. Andrei Svechnikov finally scored last night, but finds a way to take dumb penalties in crucial moments. Not just this series. He did it against the Islanders as well. Also, the trip he had on Shesterkin made me think he should have gotten ejected. Made my stomach turn. That may just be me. Kotkaniemi had zero shots last night and he was one of star players a few years ago (and when they announced that last night I had to go look it up to make sure I heard that right). He did take a shot but it missed the net, he was the only one on the canes to not put one on net. I don't know if he has gotten the yips or what, but I don't know what is future is with the organization. I mean I know we have a long contract with him but if he cannot get out of this funk I don't know what they will do with him. The thing that hurts more is that a lot of contracts are coming up at the end of the season and we will likely have some cap issues. We are going to lose a variant of the following individuals Guentzel (signed as rental), Necas, Skjei and Pesce. Anderson, Martinook, Teravinen and Chatfield are UFA or RFA at the end of the season so those are others to be concerned about (those are the ones I know of). Every team has their time to shine and it felt like it was the canes year, not looking that way now.
Yeah some bad penalties by the Canes. On offense, he just think the Canes don’t have enough movement by the players while in the OZ. It makes it much easier to defend and for Igor to setup for saves if he knows where guys are. Ultimately, I think it comes down to overall skill of the players on the team. I just think the Rangers are better. The Canes kind of seem like the Rangers before they did this whole rebuild; a really good team without any glaring holes but other teams are just a bit better. For the Rangers, it was the Bolts, Pens, and Caps.
@@mrpancake8889 I think of the four major team sports in NA, hockey fans are the most insulated from other teams so they are more biased than in other sports; we watch our team while not really watching other teams. Also, hockey has the physicality with subjective referring so it adds to that tension. I think the more you watch other teams, we become more subjective. It’s good to hear the thoughts of someone like this channel. Just my two cents.
This is also what makes the rangers year now much more important it's a do or die from what I remember as the rangers sit in that same boat at the end of the year, we need something big or we are going to lose a good portion of our squad which is going to hurt the team
I appreciate you tempering expectations and not getting ahead of yourself. As a Rangers fan though, I am obviously still pumped. Unreal performance by Panarin too, 4 GWG is remarkable
Going 27 for 29 on the PK is unbelievable, like that is an absurd level of penalty killing. My only worry is that they're getting outplayed a TON in these games, but Shesterkin is bailing them out by playing out of his mind. And to me, that could be a very big issue when going up against either Florida or Boston if they end up closing the series out. Both those teams (at least in my opinion) have a way more lethal offense than the Hurricanes do, and are way more likely to capitalize on the amount of penalties the rangers are taking.
seeing #72 take the ice made my heart sing. I am so happy for that kid. Also, I owe Laviolette an apology. I was not a believer in him and thought he was a recycled journeyman. I don't know if we are going to win it...we still have a long way to go, but i am stunned at how successful they've been. the shot counts don't matter to me much either. what does matter is that the Rangers seem largely unbothered by anything the whalers try to do. Anything the Whalers have tried to do to knock the Rangers off their game has no effect. it is wild to me that we can scored more than we have conceded a man down. that is wild.
Every team he coaches improves significantly immediately, but after 4 seasons his message gets stagnant and he needs to be replaced... he keeps getting his teams to the cup finals early in each tenure so im pretty sure rangers will get to the finals this year
Bringing Chytil in was the right move. Perfect time to do it in my opinion - they're up 2-0 and if you can get Chytil back up to speed you now have the scoring depth to really be top Cup contenders. I liked the energy Rempe brought but he was also getting 4 minutes a game and no one on the Canes is worth fighting so he wasn't doing much out there. If that Chytil-Wennberg-Kakko line gets going, they will have 3 lines that can actually score. That's scary for other teams
I’m a Rempe maniac (LOVE the kid). He is excellent for getting the home crowd pumped and for knocking bodies, but the game plan had to adapt for the away game. Not sure about the right move if we play FL, but I’m trusting our coach. LGR
A Rangers sweep was not what I was expecting...But it is looking more and more possible. As an outsider fan watching this series for the pure entertainment value of 2 high-power, cup-hungry teams grind this out, these games have been really exciting! Heck, I'd be down to see the Canes start pulling out some wins; it means I get to keep watching this series for longer! C:
Canes are good, but I don’t know they can’t recover for three series deficit. The morale is pretty low. All I think about this situation is the canes are really good team in the regular season but during playoff time they they don’t do well against really good teams in the playoffs. They kind of like San Jose.
The ice was definitely a problem. Players on both teams were falling down untouched throughout. That just happens sometimes having games in warm weather areas in May and June. When I was playing in an older college rink in a summer camp as a kid in mid July the heat and humidity were so bad that there would be standing water at center ice by the end of the afternoons. Sometimes the AC just can't keep up.
I agree with you Eck, this is as likely to end in 4 as it is to go to 7. There have been several times over the last 3 games where the Canes were carrying the play and they looked like the better team. Igor has held the fort when he's had to so far.
With Panarin and Fox on the team I think we have a higher hockey iq than most teams. Also let’s give credit where credit is due. Whatever LaViolette is doing with this team. I’m all in.
I remember the 94 Rangers getting by the Brodeur show somehow. I'm feeling confident about this series, but I get nervous about some other team doing the reverse to us this year.
As a rangers fan as insane as it sounds I think Igor might be better than Hank. No disrespect to the King, just more of a statement about how dominant the Czar can be at times….. he’s the reason this series is 3-0 and not 2-1 or even 3-0 Carolina. Dude is playing out of his mind.
Playoff performances are eerily similar. Hank didn’t go into slumps during the regular season the way Igor has these last 2 years. Think that needs to be addressed when comparing the two. Regardless, Igor has a bright, bright future ahead of him.
Same opinion as you, Canes played "better", but Rangers got better chances overall. Finally some unbiased opinin. Thank you and keep creating this awesome content! Greeting from Czech Republic :) PS: Will there be some World cup content? Would love to see that with your recap too ;)

classic carolina. cuz when it’s 90 degrees out and 90% humidity as it is pretty much every day there from may to september, your ice doesn’t stand a chance
Man, I absolutely loved the first period of Game 3, it had everything, easily one of the best periods I have seen in a while. And by the end of it, I was really excited about the rest of the game, actually not worrying who will the game, I was just having fun. As a Canes fan however, the rest of the game dissappointed me, it was just classic Canes when it matters. It all just fell apart, and the short-handed goal ruined every bit of hope I had for this team. It just wasnt it, and probably just will not be. Rangers in 4 or 5, they are just better and wish them to win the cup. They can play anything, and anything exceptionally well.
Goodrow getting in front on that play in front of the goal and causing the ensuing scrum was more impactful than I expected. It changed momentum and helped turn the tide. I HATE that Rangers fans ever rip on Goodrow or Trouba when both guys get right in on opponents to challenge them and help the Rangers win.
Igor hasn’t let in any soft goals. Even elite goalies cough up a softy every few games. He’s made Carolina earn their goals with deflections for the most part. But at the same time the Rangers have been keeping the Canes to outside low percentage shots. They can’t get the high quality scoring chances so credit the D. This isn’t a game of “who has more possession or shots”. Scoring the goals is what counts and so far the Rangers have a 1 goal margin in each game. Respect to Carolina it’s a closer series than the scoreline shows. That being said in my biased opinion the Rangers have been the better team and deserve their wins, even by the smallest margin.
There is no doubt I am not counting the Hurricanes. Something seems seriously wrong and even as a Rangers fan I am shocked how they won that Third Game. I don’t think a sweep is happening with the Hurricanes backs up against the wall, they can still put up a fight.
@@ashtonsosnowski9201I think he’s trying to say the refs were against the rangers which I can’t blame him because that game tying goal should’ve been blown dead before because of a high stick but luckily the rangers still won. @@tommasovaccaro1421 you’re right I misread that comment and just assumed it was another canes fan complaining. Good catch! I agree the game tying goal was sus and no ability to review it was wack.
You gotta feel bad for the canes, they’re playing their hearts out but it’s just not going their way. The way these games have been going you wouldn’t expect the rangers to be up 3-0 right now, but they’re also playing great. Still entertaining hockey none the less
Hey Eck did you see the Usa-Sweden game that just ended? What I've heard so was this the best team (on paper) that Usa has ever brought to the World Cup. So i would love to hear your commentary on that game as well as the other World Cup games.
it has to be because we got a puppy in November. My son named it after his favorite player #93 Mika Zibanejad. It is a Shiba Inu and her name is Mika Shiba InuJad
I took it with a grain of salt when the Rangers swept the Capitals, but they absolutely proved me wrong. They’re firing at all cylinders and Shesterkin is locked in. Now the Canes can absolutely reverse sweep this, but I honestly don’t see that happening with the way the Rangers are playing.
yeah I don't think Carolina can win this series now. NY is pretty lucky to be up 3-0, but Carolina would have to be insanely lucky to win four in a row. I agree that Carolina has played well enough to be up 2-1, but being down 3-0 is a very, very deep hole. there's a reason the reverse sweep has happened like 3-4 times in history. Rangers in 5.
Hey Eck I know you're a Ranger fan, yet also incredibly unbiased which I respect A LOT but its hard to hear you say that you wouldn't be surprised if this series went 7. I think 99% of the world would be more than surprised if this went to 7, that being said it obviously can still happen, nothings over till its over. Much love regardless!
Rangers cannot continue to be doubled up on shots and possession time. They will survive the Hurricanes style of peppering the goalie from the boards. But a team like Florida or someone out west (take your pick) will be getting 40+ shots from the slot. Rangers can't rely on winning SOLELY on special teams. They are very top heavy. The PP is great because you have several elite players on the ice up with a man advantage. Top 6 can compete with anyone in the league, but the bottom 6 frequently goes collectively cold for weeks at a time. We are going to need more contributions in the 3rd and potentially 4th round from Kakko, Chytl, Vesey, and Goodrow. Rempe got the one goal he's getting this year. In fact, if the Rangers do not win the Stanley Cup and Kakko does not net 3 or 4 goals in the final 1 or 2 rounds, I think he's trade bait. If we lose, it'll likely because we were 1-2 quality depth players short. The defense and goaltending sure isn't the problem.
I absolutely died laughing when you called Panarin Bread Man. My mom was like, “Panarin? Like Panera?” It made my day lol. As a Rangers fan, I felt kinda bad for Kochetkov seeing him cry after allowing the goal so early in overtime. Between the legs is hard to save, esp for a rookie. Im not gonna lie, Canes COULD come back, but I don’t know if they will? The last few games (games 2 and 3) have been extremely close and both going to overtime, with game 2 even going to double overtime.
Hats of the rangers, i hope carolina comes back as an official rangers hater, but they are playing fantastic and look every bit like the Stanley cup favorites
Chytil is not only a much better player than Rempe, but Remps usually only plays around 5 min a night and takes a lot of penalties. He almost never gets minutes in the third if the game isnt a blowout. Having another third line center who can generate more offense and play more important minutes is just way more valuable than whatever Rempe brings, regardless of his folk-hero status. The other forwards don't seem like candidates to be scratched either, maybe Kakko or Cuyle but even still they play way more important minutes than Remps.
Rangers need to come out aggressive and get the first goal. Canes pressure will mount and they will take more risk which will work to the Rangers advantage. No team has had a 2 goal lead in the series. Whoever gets it will win for sure.
Nobody is planning a parade but we definitely have the right to celebrate and be happy. That goal by Panarin was absolutely incredible if you rewatch it. The sequence from Trocheck picking the pocket of orlov for the quick pass to Panarin. However Panarin scored that goal idk but the guy is a Hockey Wizard 🪄 🧙
This next one can really go either way, the Rangers could ease up a bit and concede a game but at the same time the Canes could feel the pressure and lost a bit of heart or even head and lose the game with a few too many penalties. If the Canes do win G4 then I believe the Rangers will wrap up the series in 1 or the 2 games at MSG. A double clean sweep would be oh such a dream.
Rempe would’ve gotten booted from that game and suspended. Would’ve been down to 11 and 6 after the first period. That lineup change needed to happen in order for us to win.
Honestly I am expecting Carolina to win Game 4 just for pride purposes but I dont see them beating us in game 5 at the Garden. This series has been fun to watch very competitive, i'm gald we have Igor between the pipes.
@@minsookim13 I hope it is a sweep as a Rangers fan. But again ik Carolina is gonna have pride and I think there gonna take Game 4, Aho on the bench after that OT Goal looked mad so i'm worried.
They could just roll over Saturday. They are completely deflated down to the coach. Not impossible to win 4 in a row but they're human beings, they see the writing on the wall. They're cooked.
@@itsdagoat_Isaac but the fact is losing two straight overtime games and the fact i think Rangers will be that much more motivated to sweep to give Adam Fox 8-12 days off before the Conference Finals
*I'm thinking, what if the Rangers become unstoppable and go on to the Finals? Even more, win the Cup 30 years after their last one, but also face the Canucks in the Finals as well?*
I was concerned about putting Chytil in because of several reasons. I would love to see him play and be eligible to get his name on the cup, not saying Rangers will win it but the kid has worked really hard and it would be a shame to miss out were it to happen. I was concerned about his health and physical state but seeing him tonight..... holy macaroni. I have to mute to two jabbering jockos on TNT but when Chytil made the move late in the 3rd I had to roll it back and see it again a couple of times and heard the comment "Chytil has been waiting 6 months to try that move" and no kidding and he did it FAST. WOW.... I hope he does well and gets it back together and stays healthy.
Only chance and hope I have for the Canes is if their special teams start cooking. The Rangers dont need a second chance when given a great opportunity
High key afraid if they don't sweep they're gonna have a mental collapse and get reverse swept. Of all the teams that could happen to it would be the NYR

Last night's game was literally Rangers vs. Refs. Like the amount of missed calls should be investigated big time.
You’re 0/15 on the powerplay. To say the refs are on the rangers side is just a joke comment dude.
@@ashtonsosnowski9201 reread that comment
It’s always somebody else’s fault.
@@ashtonsosnowski9201I think he’s trying to say the refs were against the rangers which I can’t blame him because that game tying goal should’ve been blown dead before because of a high stick but luckily the rangers still won. I hope he didn’t mean to say canes vs refs because that definitely WAS NOT the case.
@@tommasovaccaro1421 you’re right I misread that comment and just assumed it was another canes fan complaining. Good catch! I agree the game tying goal was sus and no ability to review it was wack.
I laughed when you said Shesty reminded you of Hank because he won 7 playoff games in a row, something Hank NEVER did
You gotta feel bad for the canes, they’re playing their hearts out but it’s just not going their way. The way these games have been going you wouldn’t expect the rangers to be up 3-0 right now, but they’re also playing great. Still entertaining hockey none the less
After listening to Messier on Pat McAfee's show the other day, he made me a TRUE BELIEVER
The reason the ice was bad is cause NC State held their graduation last weekend at PNC
That is an insane tip
Immense luck to go up 3-0! Games were extremely tight. Carolina deserved to win that last game at least!
Unstoppable.
yeah I don't think Carolina can win this series now.
2:21 omg lol
Before last night Chytil hadn’t played since November 2nd. He looked good though given the minutes he played; let’s just hope he stays healthy.
I wish you included the clip of trocheck celebrating the laf goal in Sebastian aho’s face
The bread man is playing lights out
Lol I’ve never seen a high kick like that after a goal 😂
I absolutely died laughing when you called Panarin Bread Man. My mom was like, “Panarin? Like Panera?” It made my day lol. As a Rangers fan, I felt kinda bad for Kochetkov seeing him cry after allowing the goal so early in overtime. Between the legs is hard to save, esp for a rookie. Im not gonna lie, Canes COULD come back, but I don’t know if they will? The last few games (games 2 and 3) have been extremely close and both going to overtime, with game 2 even going to double overtime.
Hes not a rookie anymore
It wasn't even between the legs, it pinballed between his blocker and his torso under his arm. Centimeters away from stopping it, and he felt that.
@@jsquared1013 oops, my bad, you’re right. That almost makes it even worse for him :(
You see that legkick by Panarin? He practicing with the Rockettes?
This team man LFGR!
The Best Times. Enjoy them, Eck.
If I had to bet my life on The Rangers vs The Avengers...
I'm taking The Rangers 💯
Winning game 4 is a different animal. Looking for the canes to get back in business tomorrow. One game at a time!
Let’s Go Rangers!
Let’s go Rangers ❤💙
RBA’s job should be in jeopardy
Hats of the rangers, i hope carolina comes back as an official rangers hater, but they are playing fantastic and look every bit like the Stanley cup favorites
Rangers would be that team to start a record 15-0 in the playoffs and then get reverse swept in the finals
It’s gonna be hard choosing between shesty bread and trocheck for mvp of the playoffs so far
Let's get it done tomorrow Eck
This next one can really go either way, the Rangers could ease up a bit and concede a game but at the same time the Canes could feel the pressure and lost a bit of heart or even head and lose the game with a few too many penalties. If the Canes do win G4 then I believe the Rangers will wrap up the series in 1 or the 2 games at MSG. A double clean sweep would be oh such a dream.
Rempe would’ve gotten booted from that game and suspended. Would’ve been down to 11 and 6 after the first period. That lineup change needed to happen in order for us to win.
Chytils been injured since November
nahh a Rangers fan fistbumped a 7 year old Canes fan when the Rangers scored🤣😂😂
Chytil has been injured since November, it’s Blake Wheeler who’s been injured since February
Chytil was healthy by February, but he got hurt again at a practice
@@xlr0gd205 ohh okay thank you. I Must’ve read that he hasn’t played since November and got it mixed up.
SPECIAL TEAMS. SPECIAL PLAYS. SPECIAL PLAYERS. VINCENT TROCHECK BROTHER 🤓 ☝️
Canucks did get a PP goal last game.
Honestly I am expecting Carolina to win Game 4 just for pride purposes but I dont see them beating us in game 5 at the Garden. This series has been fun to watch very competitive, i'm gald we have Igor between the pipes.
i don't really think that losing two straight overtime games is so tough rangers are different this year i won't be shocked if it is a sweep
@@orlfane1622 Yea i see the sweep happening more than them taking game 4
as long as brindamour says they played well and the Rangers win, i am fine with that.
*I'm thinking, what if the Rangers become unstoppable and go on to the Finals? Even more, win the Cup 30 years after their last one, but also face the Canucks in the Finals as well?*
4th game hardest to win
IGOR IGOR IGOR!
The Canes arguably are the most well rounded team left in the playoffs and are about to get SWEPT
Heres hoping for a 94 rematch that goes the other way
I thought Chytil has been out since November?
Nice Mosh Girl celly.
Only chance and hope I have for the Canes is if their special teams start cooking. The Rangers dont need a second chance when given a great opportunity
I dont think that rangers gonna sweep canes might get 1 game back
High key afraid if they don't sweep they're gonna have a mental collapse and get reverse swept. Of all the teams that could happen to it would be the NYR
would love to see the sweep but wouldn’t be surprised if Rangers win in 5 or 6
The Rangers are very good..
