So I am in my senior year of a BS in Aerospace Engineering and for our capstone, we are building a table top satellite. I was put on the Power, Propulsion, and Thermal team. Recently, we have had concerns with our power source getting too hot, it's four 18650s. With all my years of watching you tear phones apart, the vapor chamber came to mind as a method to cool the batteries without being too big, after all it is a satellite meant to sit on a table. Now I'm worried that if it doesn't work, it's my blunder but either way, it's cool that the technologies overlap. Smart phones are kind of just satellites not in orbit and with no propulsion or attitude adjustment capabilities.

So good to see how inspiration goes around. I mean who would've thought 5 or 10 years ago that a satellite built by an aerospace engineer got its idea from a smartphone teardown video on CZcams. Also how I can literally interact one on one like this.

Had Samsung S23 ultra, and i must say i like rog phone 8 so much more, better comfort holding ( size )
Alot better battery when playing games.
Love the air triggers for FPS games.
OK good camera, no 100x zoom, but who use it so often?
In my op much better than s23 ultra.

Trust me bro after a year or 2 your Asus Rog phone 8 is gonna have a bootloop, software issues like crashing when opening the camera. I have the Asus Rog phone 6 it doesn't have a problem after a year but after 2 years a lot of software issues this is because of Asus software updates that has a lot of bugs/problems. Asus Rog phones 5,6,7 users also experience the same problem like motherboard problem, bootloop, unable to open camera

I disagree. Had no issues with my rog phones, had the original rog, rog 2 then rog 6. The only issue I have with it is they stop massive android updates after two updates. Should be at least three android updates with five years of update patches

6:08 this conversion is wrong. Since the temperature is reduced *by* 100 F the conversion should only factor in the relative difference not the absolute temperature value, which differs due to different zero points. An increase in temperature of 36 C is ~65 F, 100 F is ~56 C. In absolute terms 100 F is ~38 C, but an *increase of* 100 F is an increase of ~56 C

ROG phone also suffer way more than their durability, they're so likely to die from the CPU just overheating and killing itself, the same problem as poco X3 pro user
Literally every week there's always 1-2 poco x3 come into the phone repair shop that I'm working all with the same exact problem of the cpu basically shooting itself in the leg
Edit: for me at least, poco is fine since it's a cheap phone(150 dollar average price) but for ROG to suffer from the same problem when their phone can easily cost minimum of 1000 dollar, its just unacceptable,if you're thinking about buying secondhand ROG phone, give it up, secondhand phone is never worth it with the exception of some of the iPhone even then you have to keeo a very keen eye to see why they're so cheap and most of the time it's because the secondhand iPhone is a refurbished one meaning they either swap the back glass which is a terrible idea and can easily damage the internal components, housing swap or change the hardware, for LCD most repair shop is well capable of transferring a specific chip to bypass the important message and editing battery health is comically easy, unless you know what you're looking for its nigh impossible for the average user to spot a well refurbished iphone

I personally think they last quite a good amount of time but i've probably skipped all the bad models too and i really think this rog phone 8 feels like it'll last much longer than the 3 but we'll see

I just returned mine after using it for about 3 weeks. The phone worked fine as a regular device. I bought it becasue of the features and headphone jack but there were a few things that led me to return it. First is a very outdated launcher, immersive folders and lack of customization, to the point Icon pack usage was broken. Then came the occasional glitches, which wasn't so bad and could be fixed with software. Finally it was the reputation Asus gave themselves, with taking away the bootloader unlock. They straight up rather refund someone that filed a lawsuit rather than give the users the option to unlock their devices. I don't want to be part of all that mess, so since I still had a week to return the device I did and got a full refund. Hopefull I'll be able to find a better device in the future, I'm waiting for the Nothing (3) and the Xperia 1 VI
