ABOUT HAZEL: Shirley Booth won two Emmy Awards® for her leading role in this beloved series based on the cartoons in the Saturday Evening Post. The show centers around Hazel Burke (Booth), the live-in maid and housekeeper for the Baxter family. George Baxter (Don DeFore), a successful corporate lawyer, is always in control of everything at his office, but almost nothing at home. When he returns from the office at day's end to his wife Dorothy (Whitney Blake) and their son Harold (Bobby Buntrock), he enters the world of Hazel. Running the Baxter household more efficiently than George runs his office, Hazel is always right, knows exactly what needs doing, and pre-empts George's authority with alarming, though justified, regularity!

Love this!!!!!
Wonderful laughs
Hazel is a positive role model of speaking kindness and having self confidence.
An all time classic that will live on forever I have the DVDs grew up on this 👍👍
and a busy body
@@69zenos1 to help people.
And never stops talking
@@69zenos1 And funny!
Hazel was a busybody but she got things done. Had lots of connections in all walks of life
Such a natural actress was Shirley. In fact, viewers have noted: "you never catch Booth acting"
Yes and she won Best Actress 1953 for "Come Back Little Sheba"! Excellent movie!
@@usmale4915 This shows what a wide dramatic range she had going from tragic drama to comedy A truly brilliant actress and one of a kind.
@@usmale4915 One of the finest performances ever committed to film was her Lola Delany
@@scotnick59 I know, I just love that entire movie! She sure earned that Oscar, that's for sure! 😃
Her can-do attitude makes her a remarkably, positive role model. Whoever said the good-ole days weren't so good never watched these kind of shows. 'Love the black-n-white, and I sure do miss those good ole days. 😍
The bowling announcer is Otis Campbell! You'll remember seeing him behind bars on the Andy Griffith Show. Hal Smith.
I had an uncle who died when I was young and he loved Hazel. He was the greatest guy.😪
May your uncle Rest In Peace! 😊
I love this show! I remember watching it when I was young! There used to be so many wonderful family oriented shows; it’s so sad & awful that we have a drought of family shows, just tragic!! 😭🥺 We need more wholesome family shows that teach positive things like good manners, respect, tolerance & good sportsmanship! Sadly, those days are behind us! No wonder kids are acting out these days, they have nothing positive to learn from!
‘ It starts at home.’ Parents don’t care anymore!😢
We need the Lord in America that's what's wrong. I love the show too!
@@francegilbert6364 It starts at home but dont think that we haven't been stirred by outside establishment with purpose of destroying the family structure. MSM stirs and pushes what we see say and do.
In the early 1960's, there were only three television networks, ABC, CBS and NBC. Fewer choices on the dial means a whole lot more people watching compared to 500 or more channels today. Fewer people watching, less ad revenue and more "Honey Boo Boo" oriented TV shows.
@@maryc7231 It's on Antenna TV and Fetv
Love Hazel honest and straight to the point!!! Need more people like her to day
❤❤Would 💕 a maid 0:54 like Hazel, She's the best❤❤❤❤❤❤😅
Ah, Hazel. My intro to Shirley Booth. I think I was, like 5, or 6. Rest in Peace, Dear Lady.
I absolutely love this show!! I still watch it on ANTENNA TV!
😂👍
Me too.👍👍
I wish I had a Hazel in my life such a giving lovely woman 🥰😇
This was one of my favorite programs when I was young, enjoyed seeing Hazel get into all sorts of problems.
She is a YENTA, she interfers in other people's lives without being asked, FYI it is Yiddish for interfering other people's lives without being asked or wanted!!!!!
Oh my!! When I was in elementary school "Hazel" came on just after I got home from school! 🥰 Thanks for this upload🙌💯
Absolutely love Hazel and the Baxters! 💖
63 years old. Still watch the reruns. When tv was fun.
👍🤗
@@katherineirving7189 I wish TCM would play come back little Sheba.

I LOVED HAZEL - grew up watching her on TV everyday, a "must watch" when I was a ten year old...
I always loved Shirley Booth. She was a fine actress.
Shirley Booth was so talented!
I bought them all on dvd a few years ago…never tire of watching it. Wholesome and family-watchable. Father Knows Best is another good one.
@Deb Catman To live long enough to watch "Hazel" on You Tube = priceless !
i always liked My Three Sons.
Where did you get them at? I have Andy Griffith n I love Lucy n the the Walton's!! Would love to find Hazel.
Same here. Not crazy about the fifth season when they changed the cast but love this show. Have any favorite episodes?
I remember Shirley Booth in “Come Back Little Sheba”. I was too young to understand it fully.
i loved watching hazel,,,,,,, she was very funny,,,,,,, wish we had shows like that now ,,,,,,,,, brought back special memories for me💕
Hazel christmas and thanksgiving episodes are phenomenal!
The bowling announcemer was Hal Smith, who played Otis the Drunk on "The Andy Griffith Show".
Also Hal Smith was the first Mr. Whitaker on Focus on the Family's Adventures in Odyessy.
Thank you for that!
I KNEW he looked familiar! thanx!
For those born in the 1960s or later and may not be familiar with it, the _Hazel_ TV program was based on the "Saturday Evening Post" magazine cartoons drawn by illustrator Ted Key. This credit is included in the credits of each episode.
When TV was sane and family friendly and not filled with the insane mental gymnastics of today.
Hazel be running thangz🤣
I absolutely love the actress Shirley Booth in all her styles in TV, Radio and Movies. ❤️ Thank You for the Post!
Hazel is one of my favorite classics! I've only been able to watch random episodes a few at a time so I'm So excited to finally get to see the pilot!
Lol! 😆 I loved that ending. That rich couple are just too cute.
All 3of these actors are dead now and the wife 🙏
That’s a 1950s show
I've often lamented it hasn't been available anywhere for so long.
@@pennolsen5451
No, not quite. Towards the end, when that car drove into view I noticed it was a 1962 model Ford. This " pilot " episode was probably filmed in August 1961.
Wow, Shirley Booth would be 125 years old. Just seems unreal, that we can still see them on TV
I like watching Hazel. I grew up watching Hazel and all her shenanigans. She was funny way back then and she is funny now!
I just love doing the hopscotch scene. She did it without an ounce of regret. 😉.
Hahahahahaha! Love that ending!!! I like to write corny stories with unexpected impossible twists. Must be related to the writer of the plot to this pilot. 😉😉 Not likely but the ending here is just priceless! Thank you for the video and the memories!
Wonderful to see the classics of my childhood again!! Wonderful!! Thank you!!
HAHAHA...this was funny...yes more HAZEL please thankyou :)
Hazel is such a 😊 delightful TV 📺 show.
I always watch Hazel on Antenna TV, great nostalgic show!
Even though this is way before my time, I much rather watch this over any of the crap they show now days. Love all these old shows.

Loved the original cast best and of course Shirley Booth played the part to perfection!

I love hazel best show. She was a amazing actress
Bar none: THE BEST CLASSIC SITCOM.
They dont write them

It was a wonderful time
Little Harold (Bobby Buntrock) died tragically at age 21, when his car went off a bridge and he couldn't get out and drowned. 1952-1974 !
Wow. Haven't seen this since the early 70s in syndication.
Great writing and actors.
Wow, did this bring back memories!
I wish you could put more of these on CZcams
Thank for sharing Hazel. Enjoy it
I used to watch this with my mom when I was little. Love it. Thank you ❤️ my mom passed last year.thanks for a wonderful memorie
Sorry for your loss
What a great tv program, I’m to young to know about it, but my Mom remembers the tv program.👍
Ohhh I love this show
I want a Hazel.
The days when good, clean and wholesome shows were on nightly network TV.
You knew which day of the week and time of day each of the good ones came on. Hazel, Gomer Pyle, The Real McCoys, Gunsmoke, and of course the greatest of all, The Andy Griffith Show. When the whole family would gather in the living room and enjoy.
Love this show!
everybody's favorite busybody.
Always enjoyed watching this show. And still do. She’s so zany and lovable
I didn't know until rather recently that Whitney Blake was Meridith Baxter -- Bernie's mother.
Wow, I didn't know that, neat
She also created the 1970's / 1980's show "One Day at a Time."
I truly love this show but I wasn't too happy when they changed the characters like they did with the Baxters and put his brother.... I like the two first ones much better
The announcer at the bowling alley is Hal Smith AKA Otis Campbell on Mayberry RFD The Andy Griffith Show.
I LOVE Hazel! I always have! Ty!
I am only 48 n I just started watching her about a yr ago she is so fun to watch.
Hazel has always made me think of the children's books series Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish.
😊❤️👍
I love this show
Oh I love hazel ☺️
I loved Hazel!
the ending had me laughing out loud! i had forgotten all about this show..
At 13:16 that's 'Otis' the town drunk in the Andy Griffith show. Thanks for the upload, I subscribed
Hazel is a Pro Bowler I Would Like her on my team she could Put us in first Place 😁👍✌️
This and The Lucy Show are still my favorites 55 years and running!!.... Mr Johnson: ....Hazel isn't a cup of sugar you cant just borrow her like you can borrow a cup of sugar..lol...
Episode originally broadcast 28 September 1961.
It is wonderful to see Shirley Booth so physically active here, including hopscotch and bowling, because the show ended up having to be canceled after just five seasons due to her declining health.
and/or declining ratings
@@junkersish, though the ratings were definitely down, from what I understand, it was Booth who pulled the plug, not the network.
I think it was canceled because they got rid of the the baxters and brought in his younger brother. The chemistry wasn't there. It wasn't the same after that.
@@lisabucaro576 Exactly!
I was a year old.when hazel first appeared today I still remember the show
Excellent first episode. Love it !! Shirley Booth just perfect. Great cast. Too bad it was only 4 seasons till they ruined it on CBS … ugh. Love Shirley Booth …. Darn Tootin.
🤣GREAT EPISODE!!!
I loved hopscotch
I wonder if you knew in her younger years how Beautiful in Appearance she was Extremely attractive!!! Playing a Maid is being Humble and Caring Janice Harley
That was awesome to watch! Thanks for sharing. I had never seen the pilot episode.
Hazel has a sympathetic appearance.when watching busy George dealing with his son very good acting
Yay Hazel!!! great memories
13:13 OTIS! (Andy Griffith Show)
Sweet pilot.
Hazel did everything
She was wonderful! And never ashamed that she was a housekeeper. Or I mean a maid. I'm a janitor and I feel the same way.
Love the Johnson’s!
They are so clueless - and hilarious!
Love this!!
I'd never heard of this until now and I love it. It's so funny
Alice from the Brady Bunch Aunt Bee and Hazel grew up loving all three of their kind sweet compassionate characters.
This is my favorite episode, love those Johnson's, also when they where trying to ride the bicycles
When TV shows didnt have to be rated..we've come a long way...to a cesspool of vulgarity and loss of innocence..
John Scott: you're rough on T.V. today. You're right, but you're rough!
Absolutely true. I quit TV a decade ago.
Free country... don't watch
Again, this is not the pilot of the Hazel show. The pilot of Hazel is actually, episode 23 "Dorothy's Birthday," of the first season. You can see that the set is very different in episode 23 from the other shows. Just look at the dining room, living room, and kitchen. Again, it's a very good show with some nice scenes of Hazel by herself. Take it to the bank.
Why did they play the pilot so late in the season?
I love hazel
Just came across this & now I want to see it.
