    Building the shop first is Always a good idea for the exact reasons you stated. A base of operations if you will.

      Yeah. Keeps things dry and safe. Plus loading and carrying materials and tools every day is a job in itself for sure. Thanks for watching!

    Just discovered you guys and binged watched your forest to farm homestead build videos. I’m doing the same thing with my father on 50 acres in neighboring NC. We are just working on the driveway and grading. It’s amazing to see you guys where you are Over 5 years. You guys are an inspiration! I’ll be in tune and excited to continue to watch the journey as I am embarking on ours. It’s been a journey so far. God bless!

      Awesome!! So glad to hear that. Thanks for sharing. You should start a channel of your own. Lots of hard work but we love every minute of it. Nothing better than doing this with my son! And now my grandson is cutting his teeth on this project. It just does not get any netter than that. Can not wait to see that little guy chasing chickens across the field one day in the near future. I wish you both well and be safe it serious work with lots of hazards.

      @@ForestToFarm I can’t wait to watch my daughters do the same. We are doing things with alittle more help than yall seem to be doing. But it sure is encouraging to see yalls hard work and patience. Praying we all can get material in a timely manner as well and that this rain holds off. We are at the grading portion of our houses. The footings and foundation will be next pending good weather.

    Dear Terry & Brian,
    Belated Christmas wishes & a very Happy new year 2021. Been absolutely overwhelmed with work which doesn't seem to diminish as I get requests for beds ( 5 of them), dining table, etc, etc... I am still in Brussels doing the second floor. Trust you are both fine & great to see you back on your project. Kind regards.

    I was wondering when you were going to get to a shop.... knew it had to be in the plans. Having a "shop" onsite will certainly help with the "home" construction. Plan it and build it even bigger. They are never big enough (don't ask me how I know that). Good luck, and Happy New Year.
    PS: If you don't already, watch Andrew Camarata for some insight on removing stumps and cleaning up afterwards.

      Yeah having a place to store things is well worth the efforts. I know what you mean about bigger is better. We have two sheds here packed the first one full in no time lol. Went a good bit bigger and its full as well lol. And its all stuff we use. Live and learn ha ha. Good to hear from you. Thanks for hanging around.

      @@ForestToFarm some states are still blighted but we are working closely with NZ to open borders with them, our relationship with them is even closer than yours and Canada so it feels watching your sister through glass, but of course Australia is similar to the USA and our citizens are... Well intelligence varies from person to person but majority are doing right by their families, on the bright side the states are looking heavily into treatment of elders and infants and are looking to proceed with criminal charges with some instances. I just finished my binge of Forest to Farm. Thanks for all the great vids. Do you all plan to do a wrap up video on your kitchen remodel to show the finished product? Also, you mentioned in a vid or two about the Kichler recess light retrofits but I don't think I saw where you showed them or went into detail on them. I'd love to learn more on which ones you like as I'd like to upgrade a lot of our old incandescent ones.

    • @ForestToFarm
      @ForestToFarm  Před 3 lety +1

      @@Sig220Euro Cool! We actually have a few things we hope to eventually finish and then a wrap up will likely occur. The Kichler recess are awesome. They do an amazing job of lighting the kitchen. They have a wider angle of light distribution and so they light up even the top portion of the cabinets and ours go all the way to the ceiling. They are ten times better than the old incandescent and do not put off all the heat or use so much electricity. Great investment!! Brian lives with us and they had a baby a while back so we have sort of stopped production on then kitchen until we move to our homestead if and when we ever get those houses built. Then we have a few things to finish up on the current house we are living in. Will likely do more videos on it then.
