- Thanks for watching!
If you have any questions please leave them below and I will get back to you.
This tutorial is fairly beginner friendly - although it uses a few different stitches, once you know how to do them the rest isn’t difficult :)
What I used:
- 450 grams of medium weight yarn (10 ply / aran weight) about 700 meters
- 6mm crochet hook
- Stitch markers
- Scissors
- Buttons (If you don't have buttons check out this tutorial for yarn buttons - • How to Crochet Easy Bu... )
I made this crochet cardigan in a size extra small but it is easy to adjust for other sizes.
Here is the size guide I use: www.craftyarncouncil.com/stan...

Thank you! What a cute sweater that’s different than the basic everyday cardigan!! Awesome! Your nails are very pretty! I love mauve. It’s lovely without being flashy!
Thanks so much!! I’m glad you like it! And omg I love that mauve colour too 🥰🥰
Definitely saving this to make at some point. I love how detailed the tutorial was and it looks so cute!!

Thanks so much. Im very excited to start this cardigan. I have been looking for a new project and now I have found it.
Yay I’m so glad you like it 🥰🥰
Such a cute cardigan & a great tutorial, thank you!! I've just finished making mine (my 1st wearable project) and my teenage daughter has already requested one for herself too 😊
Yay that’s so great to hear! I’m glad you like it 🥰🥰
It looks really cute!.
Thank you!!
I started this cardigan this evening and I'm so happy with how fast the pattern works up. I might actually be able some as Christmas gifts. Thanks for sharing esp the measurement variation. ❤️❤️
Oh did I mention it's a beautiful pattern ☺️
That’s so great to hear! Yess I love how quickly double crochets work up 😊🥰🥰
Ahhh! It’s so pretty 😍
Thanks so much 🥰
This is so cute thank you
Thanks so much!
That's so cute 🤗🥰 I've just uploaded a cardigan tutorial too and this video popped up in my feed.. Subscribed!
Thanks so much!! I'll have to check it out :)
wow
Hi there! I am making this cardi right now. I love the pattern. Could you possibly tell me the width and length of the sleeves for a size small? I know I will need to add more chains than 47 to make it correct, as my yarn is slightly different. 😊
Hey! No problem :) my sleeve measures around 33cm or 13” and about 46cm or 18” in length including the trim around the wrist. The wrist trim is 7cm long. Hopefully this helps! Please let me know if you need any other measurements :)
@@StephanieTashi Thank you, that's so helpful! 😊
Hi, I’m using chunky yarn and size 6mm hook what size do I need to follow for it to come out medium?😊
Hi 😊 I used a 6mm hook too so the sizes might not be too different! I’d guess the difference between the chunky and my medium weight yarn would maybe be only one size down. The gauge for a 10 cm swatch of my cardigan with the stitch/row pattern is 12 stitches by 6 rows. If you make a swatch as well and compare that would be the safest! But possible a small would work 🤞 if you need help working out the math with a swatch let me know 🥰
@@StephanieTashi Thank you 😊
Please tell me the length of the back? I'm working with a different wool and a smaller hook so I'm not sure if it will be a good length. It's not for me, it's a gift for my cousin. Otherwise, wonderful tutorial. Beautiful cardigan. 🌸
Thanks so much! And no problem - the length for the back panel is ~ 38cm/15". You might also need the lengths for the front panels for before the increases (which is ~ 22cm/ 8 1/2”) and during the increases (which is ~ 16cm/ 6 1/2”). I hope this helps :)
Thanks a lot for the reply. ❤
If I’m making the cardigan longer and increasing the rows (My back panel’s length is 45cm), how can I calculate the new length before and after the decreases in the front panels please?
Hi! if you want the proportions to stay the same as mine then the same ratio for 45cm would be 26cm before the decreases and 19cm for the decrease section. [I had 22cm under the decreases and 16cm for the decreases, which I divided by my total of 38cm and multipled that by 45cm incase you need the calculations!] But if you wanted the buttons to come up higher or lower than mine then you could spilt it differently and it won't affect the overall pattern, just where the buttons end up.
I hope this helps but please let me know if it doesn't make sense :)
@@StephanieTashi Thank you so much❤️ I’ll try it and I’ll let you know if I need anything.
Should I make the sleeves also longer? I made the front and back 45cm and I noticed that the length of your cardigan’s front and back panels is the same as the length of the sleeves.
@@noorhalaseh that will depend on the length of your arms so if you have long arms or want the arms to be bunched up you could add some extra rows. The total sleeve if measure from the top of the should will be longer and 45cm in the end though because it has a bit of a drop shoulder. Part of the back/panels will come over the shoulder once you attach the sleeve. My recommendation would be to make the sleeve as it is if you don’t have long arms, attach the sleeve before you do the cuff, and then if it’s a little too short add some more rows before you do the cuff. If you do have long arms then I would added some rows to the section before the decreases - up at the top of the arm. I hope this helps 🥰🥰🥰
@@StephanieTashi thank you so much ❤️
Hey, Im making this right now. As Im Dutch (tall people) the length of the panel really needs a few extra rows. Maybe for the future you could include that as not everyone is size American (taller or smaller). I have no idea what Im doing because of that to be honest
Hi! Sorry that it is confusing for you! I made this tutorial quite a while ago now and in my more recent videos I now include more information about that but hadn’t in some earlier ones like this one 😔 but thank you for letting me know. I’ll be extra sure to make it clear in future tutorials.
For this one if you haven’t gotten too far, if you add some rows below the arm hole decreases and then at the very top above the neckline decreases for the front panels, that shouldn’t effect the pattern too much. Depending on how much length you need, if you add 4 rows below the arm hole, the pattern will be the same with just an extra block of the repeat. Hopefully that helps a bit but if there is anything I can do to help let me know 😊
When you start the sleeve decrease on both sides
You do a different way at the start !?
At end you do the way I thought- resulting in pulling through three stitches
Was the beginning decrease done incorrectly ? 💚💚
Is that for the first half of the decrease? Really as long as you are decreasing each row you need to by one stitch on each side of the sleeve you can do any style of decrease you prefer 😊 but let me know if that not what you meant 🥰🥰
@@StephanieTashi I’ll just keep doing that then 💚😊 thank you great pattern !
Thanks so much! I’m glad you like it 🥰🥰
I want to make it for bust size 36” n my hook is 4mm so I should follow which size
Hi Mita - for a 36” bust the size is closest to a M (I’ve linked the size guide I use in the description if you want to see) but using a different hook size you’ll most likely need to add stitches and rows to what I’ve done so I’ve included the cm/inch measurements. Hopefully it still works out the same if you do as many stitches/rows you need to do to make it to that measurement.
For the back panel:
Width of the panel = 50cm/19 3/4 “
Height = 38cm/15”
Front panels:
Width= 28.5cm/11 1/4”
Height before the increases = 22cm/ 8 1/2”
Height with the increases = 16cm/ 6 1/4”
Arm panels:
Width = 39cm/15 1/2”
Height before increases = 20cm/7 3/4”
Height with increases = 18cm/7”
Ribbing
Waist ribbing = 5cm/2” and as long as you need to go around your waist but approx 107cm/67”
Wrist ribbing = 8cm/3 1/4” and as long for it to be comfy around your wrist
Neckline ribbing = 5cm/2” and you should be able to follow the same stitch pattern as it depends on the number of rows/stitches
Hopefully that makes sense with the video but let me know if you need any more info 😊
@@StephanieTashido you please have the measurements like this for a size small and XS? I’m planning on doing this soon! Thx ❤

@@StephanieTashiThank you so much ❤ I actually started doing the back panel 2 days ago and almost did half of it but my problem is that I wanted to do a size small and based on the video the width of the back panel was 49cm, but mine ended up being like almost 51cm and now in these measurements you wrote that the width is 45cm so now I’m confused on how to proceed from here because my measurements are now closer to a size medium (according to the measurements you wrote in the comments) and I don’t know what to do. Like should I make the front panels wider or how to proceed. Can you please help me❤ thank you so much in advance
Is there a written pattern?
Hi! I don’t have a written pattern for this one at the moment but I think I could write it up this weekend 😊 I’ll reply again once I’ve got it 🥰
Hi Adel! I've finished writing up the pattern and it's pinned in the comments :)
How to connect a back, front panels to arms 👎
Hi Tram - sorry if that part was confusing! If you have any questions I can try to explain it more clearly
