First heard it from the movie "A Love Song for Bobby Long", and it haunts me since. I have no idea what was Washboard Lisa like, but I imagine her as a tiny child-looking street musician - may be a little bit sort of "beata" ("a blessed one" or "God's Fool") that were revered in old times in catholic Europe and orthodoxe christian Russia. Though probably she was just a ordinary happy-go-lucky but very talented Luisiana woman. Thank you for posting video.

Remembrances by definition must be original....there was only one Washboard Lisa- my husband used to see her and chat with her on Jackson Square. Makes the tune bittersweet and real. "Washboard Lisa" was a performer in New Orleans. She is dead now. She may not have much more than this song in the way of her story being remembered by the general public. So there's that, take it or leave it.
