To make sure you never miss a show you can go to PhillyD.tv which links to Spotify and Apple Podcast uploads of the show. (The Spotify one even includes video and was up several hours ago) and 2. I think people have forgotten the fact that Boeing is a military complex industry with many deals in both arms and military tools - They're not just a civilian industry, so though it sounds insane it doesn't negate the fact that sending a hit out is something they do and not just because they're rich but because they're also military and capable of doing so.

    One thing not mentioned in this video about Corey is that the mother had repeatedly made reports to CPS but was brushed off and they never investigated, and before his death she had filed for emergency custody but was rejected. The systems failed that kid.

    • @feliciaroseantonia
      @feliciaroseantonia Před 17 dny +111

      Honestly, at this point, it just seems as if the systems supposedly put in place to protect children actually WANT them to die instead. All this effort to sweep things under the rug, when in reality it would just be easier to actually help the children be moved into safer environments. The fact that she was rejected for emergency custody just before his death makes it seem like they wanted said death to happen.
      I can't explain how sickening it is, but even if I did go into detail about that, I'd really be preaching to the choir. But I think of saying it anyway because, like... this shit just keeps happening. It just keeps on fucking happening and there doesn't seem to be a damn thing that the average person can do about it. People always say "vote then!" and, sure, that helps to some extent at least. But look at shit like the electoral college.
      I really do feel like there must be a point in which things just have to get substantially actually better. It just feels awful sometimes because it doesn't currently seem like there's any way to get these sort of corrupt abusive individuals out of powerful positions like working at CPS or in the courts.

      @@feliciaroseantonia Yeah, I agree with you. Also, social workers are often underpaid, understaffed, and overworked, which obviously creates a pretty poor and negligent system for handling life-threatening situations. Maybe focusing on that could be a starting point for bettering things? Much more probably needs to be done, but yeah, I'm not sure what the average person can do besides voting and advocacy.

      That one and the last story both particularly hurt to see. I really don't mean to be all "doomer mindset" so to speak, but sometimes it just seems like kids are abused and killed left and right & nobody cares; at least not until they realize they might actually have to face some form of consequence for causing such a thing to happen, that is.
      Though if that's the only point in which they "care" about it then obviously they never actually _cared_ in the first place. But it goes without saying that somebody capable of such atrocity wouldn't actually have the capacity to care about human life at all in the first place, really.

When I’m buying new Tech, Marques is one of the first reviewers I seek out to help me make an informed purchase, a huge reason I trust him is because he does put out these negative reviews it makes me feel like he actually cares about his audience and not just getting brand deals and improving his bottom line. "and may even contribute to the way people seem to become so obsessed/emotionally invested in corporations." it absolutely does, because otherwise they are forced to accept the fact that they spend money on a brick. theres two kinds of people, the ones who accept it as a istake, and theres the ones who desperately NEED to see it succeed because they need the validation that they didint make a mistake. and this doesnt apply just to people who bought the product, its also to the people who supported it and showed any excitement for it. the validity of their opinions is on the line, and its way easier for some people to find find an antagonist than face their mistakes. its also useful to idolize the corporate and capitalist system that benefits you, because one thing is certain noone that cant afford to spend 200 dollars on a worse phone, is this emotionally invested in it.

Having girls make the first move is kind of a cheat code and I think they are missing that.

Anyone having sympathy for a company need to re-evaluate their priorities. If they release a bad product and face consequences, that is on them.

    • @boburanus69
      @boburanus69 Před 17 dny

      Well, here's the issue I have with tech 'reviews.'
      1. The VAST MAJORITY of the products reviewed are not something the average person would buy, with/without a review to watch.
      2. MANY of the review points focus on personal usage cases or personal opinion, which might have some sort of disclaimer attached, but often times the point boils down to 'good/bad,' which is something that should always be avoided.
      3. The videos themselves are being shown on an ad-heavy platform, often times with additional sponsor spots or merch plugs from outside, which creates an even more unwatchable experience. I am willing to watch ad blocked youtube with sponsor spots, but not both. I am willing to watch premium youtube without adblock, but not sponsor spots too.
      4. The pricing structure of youtube membership, the additional channel memberships through patreon/other platforms, combined with the merch, creates a situation where it becomes too difficult to understand what I am paying for.
      So, as long as youtube seeks to make line go up, creators continue to monetize outside the platform, feature sponsorships and merch drops, I will let the vultures figure out how to find a good direction in this unsustainable mess. Currently, I am turning off any video that is disrespectful enough to feature a sponsor spot without any prior warning.
      If I'm watching a video about digging a hole on a ranch, I am not going to continue watching if you're suddenly telling me about draft kings. I don't gamble, and if there was something compelling me to watch you dig a hole, it's now lost to the draft kings pitch I'm not going to watch.
      What, I'm going to come back from hearing about how awesome this game is you don't even play on ios/android, and suddenly resume the video cadence? It's gone, because you don't told me about Raid Shadow Legends when we both know you're just shilling for $$ and have never played that garbage sandwich of a game.
      The fact that marques would even review either of those garbage AI devices is a sign that he's getting bored or the content isn't bringing in enough $$. Dood should never say it's a bad product, should never say no one should buy it, and def shouldn't tell people their business.
      What you should say is: how the product functions compared to advertised. What the product does compared to previous iterations. Demonstrate the intended use/purpose of the device. Demonstrate any flaws and explain any plans the company may have to address them. But don't give me an opinion, give me the facts. If you like the device, that's great.
      That's not why I came to check out your review.

If you really must share how you think no one should buy a product, how a product is complete garbage, then you probably can save us all the time and just not review a product.
      As an end user, I need to know factual, unbiased information about a product. Specs. The way it functions. The most common usage cases. The advertising about it.

I remember after I gave a restaurant a negative review after a very bad experience, and received a slew of horrible comments from people who "loved" the place (I think it was the owner and her family). Just an FYI it was a family owned pizza place that made my family and I wait over two hours for a cheese pizza (while the tables who were sat after us were getting theirs in a timely manner), and when we finally got our pizza, it was so burnt it was practically inedible. Tried talking to the owner, but she wouldn't respond at all, she just ignored me until we walked out without paying, then she started screaming at us and threatening to call the cops. I looked her straight in the eyes and said "Go ahead, we'll see whose side they'll take after hear you made us wait over two hours for a pizza so burnt you could use it as charcoal." loud enough for the whole floor to hear. When I was first getting on the internet in the early 00s there were people who made it a point to talk about internet safety, and there was a big culture of pirating. Because of this people using the internet at the time generally had an increased awareness of internet safety and the know how to skirt around and fix problems or find workarounds. But then we figured everyone knew how to do that so we stopped teaching it. But now everyone is on the internet and most of them never got the lesson on how to do anything other than rely on big companies to do all the work for them so you have a huge user base that is helpless and don't even know you CAN install safety features unless it's pasted right in front of their face. So many of these products seem like they should really still be in alpha testing. I'm fixing bugs like "resizing the window then going full screen again when this graphic is on-screen causes the UI to scale incorrectly for a half second" just to get to Beta. And these companies are charging hundreds of dollars for products that cannot yet pass "ask 5 questions and get the correct answers". As a woman, I think this was a great idea for both ends. I've never been on a dating site (thankfully) but have heard enough😅 I'm wondering if this is mostly the fact *some* of the women just want attention (positive dopamine and boost to confidence) from many people, not an actual relationship. By having to "go first" they aren't getting those constant messages of people hitting on them/attention. They have to start it, and if they don't actually want a relationship, why would they? That would be considered "hard work". NOW. I'm NOT saying this is all people (let's be fair, some men like all the attention also) BUT...I think it would help weed out the attention seekers vs. Relationship seekers. There is already apps for F buddies/1 night stands, why not one for actual dating? I get some women also do struggle with reaching out first (shy) and also some men do, so it seemed like a solid idea to have this app plus the others. They each seemed to serve their own purpose 🤷‍♀️
      I also could be completely off the mark 😂 I'm socially awkward and haven't been on social media actively or dating sites, so...that's possible too 😅

    • @mjrasco
      @mjrasco Před 16 dny

      As a woman who used Bumble and left for a different dating app, I think this is actually the perfect way to do it, and if I was single I'd go back to Bumble for this feature. At first I liked the idea of me being the one making the first move on men. I thought the benefits would include logging in to fewer dick pics in my inbox, but more than that I assumed that men would be more choosy in their matches on a site like Bumble (where they're giving up a lot of control). In practice, I wasted a lot of time talking to guys who had no interest in actually dating. If they were interested in dating, they only wanted to date women who made ALL the moves. They seemed to expect me to ask them on the first date and if that happened they didn't make a next move or follow-up on the date afterwards. The one guy I dated long-term who happened to be on Bumble (we didn't meet there), was the most passive man I've ever dated in my life. And it turns out that's just not my jam. As a woman who grew up in the 90s being chased by men and boys, having to initiate killed my libido and my self-esteem.
      I think this is a good balance of both. If I match with a woman whose question is completely generic, I can assume she's just trolling for attention/onlyfans. If her question is unique or intrigues me, it could spark a conversation and she's more likely to be a real person. If I match with a man or woman who answers with lame single word responses, I know that they're probably gonna be a disappointment and I won't get my hopes up. However, I also gave every match a chance. Starting a conversation online can be difficult. Especially when you've been on the apps for a while. I'm always particular with who I like on dating apps. Otherwise, the apps do me no good, and I might as well go out with people I meet at bars.

    In my public speaking class in college, I did an assignment on video games coming out too early. I asked my class, "Would you buy an apple at full price, only for the store associate to cut it in half and promise that you'll get the rest later on?" Of course I got a resounding no. I informed them that's the state of gaming right now, and if companies in other markets saw that they could make a profit off this, selling half-finished/barely finished products, this trend would seep into those other markets, and it has. If you are purchasing something, the expectation should be that this is a complete, functional, and optimized product.
    There is absolutely nothing wrong with calling companies out on it, big or small, when products are not. I don't understand why the conversation isn't around companies releasing half-finished products instead of one CZcamsrs review on the product, especially a CZcamsr whose sole motive is to inform consumers on if they should be spending money on this. It's absolutely ridiculous.

    • @SiMeGamer
      @SiMeGamer Před 17 dny +4

      I want to note that I'm all for the "reviews" of those products/software (can barely be reviewed after all). But I want to make a slight distinction here and note that the companies are not the major factor at fault here. The market literally tells these products managers and resource managers that they can shop stuff early. The problem is consumers. The people buying this crap are the problem. It's the same with people going to watch a movie before they see some initial critical reception (from trusted sources, of course). Disney and Netflix and CZcamsrs and Game developers and Product manufacturers will NEVER stop making garbage until people start giving af about what they spend their time and money on more seriously.
      Critics and reviewers are critical parts of a well run economy. They save time to the average consumer to do research, especially for industries they might not know much about. When you go to the cinema, you could buy a ticket to watch the next Disney disaster because, well, it's the new big shiny thing, or you could go watch this niche foreign film that is an amazing time. I've never bought a video game that hasn't fully released unless it has been a few years with proof of great consistent updates (see No Man's Sky). I've never pre-ordered video games or watched movies blind EXCEPT if I was willing to be disappointed from the get go (very rare). The only thing I will go blind on anything I see is with Japanese comics (manga). From my channel it's easy to see it's a huge hobby of mine and there I'm my own reviewer. Exploring that space is interesting to me. But most people don't look to "explore a space". They just want something functional or entertaining and there are zero reasons not to go for a trusted reviewer or critic to get a quick summary of the pros and cons.
      Until consumers change their behavior, the market will never stop and congregate at the lowest common denominator. Unfinished products and software makes sense when people pay for it. If money wasn't there this stuff would never be released like that (or it will and probably be sued for lying if the falsely advertised).
      Have standards people. Refine your taste in media. Find people who align with your view in various product/service mediums. Measure twice; cut once. Spend more time on research and you'll be rewarded not only with that singular decision but also in the future with products more likely being shipped at a higher quality to meet that demand and standard you've set.
      And companies:
      If you adhere to high standards right now, it will give you an edge of loyalty and trust. A few videogame companies and film studios have that like Larian, FromSoftware, Ufotable and A24. Good luck out there in this crazy world~!

    Have to say, I have a friend of mine who watches the show regularly. Last night, he kept refreshing to see if Phil had posted yet, and when the thumbnail wouldn’t show up, he’d be like “Where is it?!”, all while I’m trying to tell him that maybe something went wrong with the upload or something and to just be patient. Needless to say, Phil will get the video out when he can! Just calm down!

    It is so much easier to show reverence to a piece of fabric than it is to show respect to the rights it's supposed to represent. Just like it's so much easier to say "support the troops" than it is to actually fund a functional VA and take care of our troops.

    I grew up with a father like him. There's something about giving a frustrated narcissist control of a helpless child that usually goes horribly wrong. Thankfully my father slipped up when he slammed my brother's face into mine over missing the bus one morning and sparked an investigation that, while he was never caught and was allowed to keep custody of us, it did calm him down. People can say that hitting your kids worked once upon a time but I kind of wonder how many kids like this one were just forgotten over time. Like we somehow didn't notice that kids die from their parents more often than you think.

      There are whole CZcams channels dedicated to spreading awareness of CA. I look forward to hearing this man's case on The Misery Machine. As a parent breaking her own cycle, I think channels like these are important to remind yourself that the cycle can be broken. No kid should fear their parents. Parents should love their children or give them to someone who will. CA shouldn't be a thing. I'm sorry to hear about your rough childhood, too. I'm glad to hear your dad finally calmed down and stopped with the violence. Mine was similar, which is why we still have a relationship today, albeit a tumultuous one.

    So bumble just removed the entire original point of the app? Cool....
    (In my experience) 90% of messages women send anyway are literally just "hi" which is funny because I've seen (online and with conversations in person) women say that if a guy just says "hi" then they would never respond.
    I'm not going to deny that dating as a woman is rough but (for different, not life-endangering reasons) it is WAY more difficult to date as a man, and saying making the first move is "a lot of work" and "a burden" is, in this conversation at least, a prime example.

      Seems like all our experiences are the same. Women only message 'hey' or some variation. Hinge is supreme still by not requiring a match before messaging. Even being supreme, it still is rough on any app.

      Often people (teachers, other adults, CPS) say something and nothing happens. I'm not saying specifically with this case, cause idk, but it's common with child abuse situations.
