Hey! The CZcams uploader was broken for 3 hours which is why the show was late today. BUT 1. To make sure you never miss a show you can go to PhillyD.tv which links to Spotify and Apple Podcast uploads of the show. (The Spotify one even includes video and was up several hours ago) and 2. I tweet when there are problems and delays so follow me there. x.com/phillyd/status/1786162286190813351?s=46&t=uAzjdprReIFiAmOIT8sEwQ

MKBHD has done nothing wrong. Can someone PLEASE help me understand why people are so mad at someone for giving THEIR opinion?
because AI bros are the new NFT bros. they cant take valid criticism.
He is in the right, that gadget is just piece of trash
People like to think that individuals have power over the world. Instead of this company failing due to providing a bad product and loss of hype, people like to distill complex situations into "One man destroyed this company."
People don't like honest opinions
AI tech bros are low IQ. These guys are also in the replies of Elon Musk doing the “🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣”
Anyone speaking out about Boeing needs witness protection and just go off grid. This is hardly a coincidence. They are completely capable of this, they're also an arms manufacturer after all
I was on the "Ok, that's a weird coincidence, but suggesting Boeing was involved is too much a conspiracy theory" boat right up until the second one

@@craftycrumbs8425 that is the biggest no no in the QA world. I've refused to sign off on stuff before. Even if the boss ships it, it won't have my name on it.
Rule #89: One's an anomaly, two's a trend.
I think people have forgotten the fact that Boeing is a military complex industry with many deals in both arms and military tools - They're not just a civilian industry, so though it sounds insane it doesn't negate the fact that sending a hit out is something they do and not just because they're rich but because they're also military and capable of doing so.
MKBHD, like you said Phil, should be praised for being a tech REVIEWER, and not a tech GLAZER!!! He has built a career off of making honest reviews and speaking from his heart. He has all my respect
He's consistent as well. His reviews of smartphones many years ago have him always saying never buy a phone for future promises. That's why he's bashing on these products, who are only promising future functions right now
Congrats to Agent 47 for receiving Boeing's employee of the year award

One thing not mentioned in this video about Corey is that the mother had repeatedly made reports to CPS but was brushed off and they never investigated, and before his death she had filed for emergency custody but was rejected. The systems failed that kid.
Honestly, at this point, it just seems as if the systems supposedly put in place to protect children actually WANT them to die instead. All this effort to sweep things under the rug, when in reality it would just be easier to actually help the children be moved into safer environments. The fact that she was rejected for emergency custody just before his death makes it seem like they wanted said death to happen.
I can't explain how sickening it is, but even if I did go into detail about that, I'd really be preaching to the choir. But I think of saying it anyway because, like... this shit just keeps happening. It just keeps on fucking happening and there doesn't seem to be a damn thing that the average person can do about it. People always say "vote then!" and, sure, that helps to some extent at least. But look at shit like the electoral college.
I really do feel like there must be a point in which things just have to get substantially actually better. It just feels awful sometimes because it doesn't currently seem like there's any way to get these sort of corrupt abusive individuals out of powerful positions like working at CPS or in the courts.
@@feliciaroseantonia Yeah, I agree with you. Also, social workers are often underpaid, understaffed, and overworked, which obviously creates a pretty poor and negligent system for handling life-threatening situations. Maybe focusing on that could be a starting point for bettering things? Much more probably needs to be done, but yeah, I'm not sure what the average person can do besides voting and advocacy.
The CPS agents who failed to take this kid away from the father should be on trial next
Thank you for including this. I was admittedly quick to judge the mother for doing nothing to stop what I presumed was her husband and not protecting her child. With your info, it made me realize I was being too harsh. I’m so sorry that the system failed this kid, and that she wasn’t able to do more.
He probably had some MRA lawyer painting her as some scorned woman trying to take away his son

My grandma died in 2015 from Ovarian cancer, and used talc powder almost daily. My grandpa was part of one of the class action lawsuits. Unfortunately he passed away two years ago waiting for any kind of settlement from J&J.
It is highly suspicious that all Boeing whistleblowers are dead. Especially considering that the 1st guy actually told "if anything happens - it's not suicide". He knew he was in danger, probably said he's not scared in order not to scare his loved ones.
That’s the thing. Boeing doesn’t care because they see it as. It’s not about what you can suspect. It’s about what you can prove. It’s not even suspicious. We’re literally watching it unfold and there will be no repercussions because even if push was to come to shove. It would be 1 person so it wouldn’t matter to them. They’ll still be racking in billions of are dollars.
it really really REALLY is not a coincidence, it can't be unless fate has a pristine sense of humor.
They described that situation with "no evidence of foul play" as well, makes it seem meaningless when I hear it now.
I feel like they're not even trying to cover his cause of death.
Give me a break. You guys are a delusional as 9/11 truthers if you think that Boeing goe around killing whistleblowers _after_ they have already testified and their case closed. Plus, it is the word of only one family member that said this; all the rest deny him ever saying this and don't believe he was assassinated.
Get a grip on reality.
As the dad of a 6 year old son, this story makes my blood boil. Phil hits the nail on the head. That man doesn't deserve freedom, let alone the name "father".
It's truly upsetting. In his too short life, all he knew was pain from a parent. That poor little boy. 😭
any man can be a father, few can be a dad
@cIoudbank any man can be a sperm donor.....few can be a father
Yeah, I can’t imagine doing that to my 6 year old. He would be so sad and confused and I couldn’t face him. What a sick demon.
“As a father”, I hate confirmation pretexts, of an 18 month old son, we’re running into all kinds of first time injuries. First skinned knee. First time busting a lip from tripping, etc. It hurts, & is hard to comfort & reconcile that these are just growing pains. I couldn’t imagine forcing situations that would cause lethal injuries. It just doesn’t compute that someone could be like that.
The comment from Bumble management stating that "Women found messaging first to be a burden, stressful and overwhelming" (paraphrased) is just so funny to me as a guy

@@Snarl_Marx No ones denying it's hard for them too, just that them complaining about it is laughable when that's men's lived experience since the dawn of time.
@Snarl_Marx no one said it's not hard to start a conversation as a woman. Bumble was just an app where men didn't feel that pressure. I expect male usage for bumble to drop
Feeling like the FBI should be concerned about Boeing
Funny to think the FBI wouldn’t sweep this shit under the rug cause Boeing is a defense contractor
My heart hurts so much for the young little boy, he deserved so much better than that absolute monster of a being
He wasnt even fat! That dude just wanted to kill his own child
I saw the treadmill video earlier today. It was truly monstrous. I wouldn't subject an athletic adult to that on a treadmill, much less a young child who, by the way, was NOT fat. Just obscene.
Wondering why is the mother not also being held accountable for letting this abuse happen for so long?
@@titusorelius9458He was probably abusing her too.
That one and the last story both particularly hurt to see. I really don't mean to be all "doomer mindset" so to speak, but sometimes it just seems like kids are abused and killed left and right & nobody cares; at least not until they realize they might actually have to face some form of consequence for causing such a thing to happen, that is.
Though if that's the only point in which they "care" about it then obviously they never actually _cared_ in the first place. But it goes without saying that somebody capable of such atrocity wouldn't actually have the capacity to care about human life at all in the first place, really.
I’m an inspector in the aerospace industry. If you punish us for doing our job well, the quality of your product goes down. What the hell do you expect?
Which is exactly what they want, it's all about short term gains and shareholders.
Basically won’t stop until CEOs become criminally responsible for shortchanging safety, and stock holders can be held financially accountable.
I met an inspector almost 20 years ago when I was working photolab. I was helping him print photos of airplane parts that failed inspection. The tiniest scratches and dents in airplane parts...I can't even imagine how bad the Boeing manufacturing standards are if 20 years ago a scratch would fail a part vs now planes are literally falling apart.
Whistleblowers in major industries should be privy of methods to protect themselves. Sad, but a reality, & not hard to do.
@@DorianGrayClampittthis will never happen. Those shmucks will set off the nukes before that happens. :(
That "father" deserves to spend the rest of his life in Jail. It's such a super sad case, I feel bad for the family who genuinely loved the baby.
I’ve been watching MKBHD on and off for years. When I’m buying new Tech, Marques is one of the first reviewers I seek out to help me make an informed purchase, a huge reason I trust him is because he does put out these negative reviews it makes me feel like he actually cares about his audience and not just getting brand deals and improving his bottom line. MKBHD has earned so many peoples trust by being honest and I’m glad that he continues to put out honest and sometimes negative reviews.
It’s truly wild to me how many people are so willing to defend these multi-million dollar companies. It’s strange how strongly people seem to get attached to brands now. I think Marques’ observation of everything being delivered barely functional is spot on, and may even contribute to the way people seem to become so obsessed/emotionally invested in corporations.
"and may even contribute to the way people seem to become so obsessed/emotionally invested in corporations." it absolutely does, because otherwise they are forced to accept the fact that they spend money on a brick. theres two kinds of people, the ones who accept it as a istake, and theres the ones who desperately NEED to see it succeed because they need the validation that they didint make a mistake. and this doesnt apply just to people who bought the product, its also to the people who supported it and showed any excitement for it. the validity of their opinions is on the line, and its way easier for some people to find find an antagonist than face their mistakes. its also useful to idolize the corporate and capitalist system that benefits you, because one thing is certain noone that cant afford to spend 200 dollars on a worse phone, is this emotionally invested in it.
This is a big problem for society writ large. We have so much sympathy for corporations (using workers who earn poverty wages as a proxy sometimes) and no sympathy for real people anymore. Gross shit. Happens when you bring up min wage increases, climate change, 4 day work week, race relations, etc. This is just another example of how crappy our collective values have gotten in 2024.
these people defend new tech and crypto because they have skin in the game
Like people willing to give their souls to trump because he is a celebrity.
Their probably defending those companies because their dad owns Microsoft lol
MKBHD is a serious reviewer, it seems to me like there’s a weird trend of people blindly defending new tech advances without thinking of how consumers will actually respond. I’m happy channels like MKBHD exist because in reality he’s protecting consumers.
It’s not even so much “protecting” as it’s just basic honesty. In both reviews, he pointed out issues I would’ve found out after spending the hundreds of dollars to by them. There’s no over exaggeration, it’s just simple fact. That’s why I love his reviews.
See Musk bros....
@@Venjur40 Musk simps, Apple simps and tech bros are the best examples of this. They love to be scammed with big words and big prices, and they get pissy when you tell them they've been scammed lol
Wonder how much the tech bros have invested into AI companies.
For the most part he’s a serious reviewer. Dude is a Tesla simp though. His cybertruck “review” was basically an ad that glossed over and/or flat out ignored everything wrong with it.
Those Bumble changes basically turn it into a full on copy of Hinge. Those are all of the exact things that Hinge did to differentiate itself from Bumble the way Bumble did with Tinder. Wouldn't be surprised if there is either a merger ahead or a full on bitch-fight lawsuit...
Well.... hinge is owned by match who owns tinder. And bumble was basically "their CEO, ex tinder worker, being mad at tinder and going full on bender blackjack meme". But now the CEO is out so.... maybe match will buy bumble.
I almost wonder if Bumble is falling victim to the survivorship bias. I met my partner on Bumble, and it has been one of the most fulfilling relationships in my life. She had bad luck with a lot of dating apps and decided to try Bumble because she was able to initiate. We were both each others first matches and deleted the app after the first date. Having girls make the first move is kind of a cheat code and I think they are missing that.
Survivorship bias: when the first reaction on seeing planes returning from battle is to put armor on where they were getting shot. This ignores the fact that they were returning from battle and should be adding extra armor to where they wernt getting hit.
I live in Australia, where tech prices are at a ridiculous level. Tech reviewers like MKBHD are doing so many people a gigantic favour by informing the world what is and isn't worth it. Anyone having sympathy for a company need to re-evaluate their priorities. If they release a bad product and face consequences, that is on them.
Well, here's the issue I have with tech 'reviews.'
1. The VAST MAJORITY of the products reviewed are not something the average person would buy, with/without a review to watch.
2. MANY of the review points focus on personal usage cases or personal opinion, which might have some sort of disclaimer attached, but often times the point boils down to 'good/bad,' which is something that should always be avoided.
3. The videos themselves are being shown on an ad-heavy platform, often times with additional sponsor spots or merch plugs from outside, which creates an even more unwatchable experience. I am willing to watch ad blocked youtube with sponsor spots, but not both. I am willing to watch premium youtube without adblock, but not sponsor spots too.
4. The pricing structure of youtube membership, the additional channel memberships through patreon/other platforms, combined with the merch, creates a situation where it becomes too difficult to understand what I am paying for.
So, as long as youtube seeks to make line go up, creators continue to monetize outside the platform, feature sponsorships and merch drops, I will let the vultures figure out how to find a good direction in this unsustainable mess. Currently, I am turning off any video that is disrespectful enough to feature a sponsor spot without any prior warning.
If I'm watching a video about digging a hole on a ranch, I am not going to continue watching if you're suddenly telling me about draft kings. I don't gamble, and if there was something compelling me to watch you dig a hole, it's now lost to the draft kings pitch I'm not going to watch.
What, I'm going to come back from hearing about how awesome this game is you don't even play on ios/android, and suddenly resume the video cadence? It's gone, because you don't told me about Raid Shadow Legends when we both know you're just shilling for $$ and have never played that garbage sandwich of a game.
The fact that marques would even review either of those garbage AI devices is a sign that he's getting bored or the content isn't bringing in enough $$. Dood should never say it's a bad product, should never say no one should buy it, and def shouldn't tell people their business.
What you should say is: how the product functions compared to advertised. What the product does compared to previous iterations. Demonstrate the intended use/purpose of the device. Demonstrate any flaws and explain any plans the company may have to address them. But don't give me an opinion, give me the facts. If you like the device, that's great.
That's not why I came to check out your review.
@@boburanus69 1) Then don't watch them. It's like complaining Top Gear are reviewing fast cars. I'll never be able to afford a Bugatti Veyron but I want to see what the best possible options are. The technology trickles down anyway
2) Wow, a reviewer sums up their main points in a concise list of positives and negatives, what a crime. And god forbid they give their own personal opinions. It's almost like I want to hear what it will be like using this technology on a daily basis
3) Share -> Embed -> Watch the video without the need for an adblocker
4) You know you don't have to subscribe/pay for all of that?
As for the rest of your paragraphs, it's all waffle geeze
@@boburanus69 It's not possible to review anything without an opinion. what nonsense is this?
The first point isn't even true, the vast majority are absolutely things the average person would buy, it's quite frankly oversaturated with the amount of phones and headphones reviews.
@@asum7213 Basically, you don't understand the purpose of a review if you believe there is a place for your opinion. There's a place for facts, only. If you really must share how you think no one should buy a product, how a product is complete garbage, then you probably can save us all the time and just not review a product.
As an end user, I need to know factual, unbiased information about a product. Specs. The way it functions. The most common usage cases. The advertising about it.
If a product claims 24 hour battery life, and your testing shows it's only doing 14 under best conditions, that's useful to know. How you feel about that (it sucks, boo, false advertising!) is irrelevant. I, as the end user, have a brain. I, as the end user, can determine whether or not something is stupid, on my own.
I can also determine if a product fits my needs, even if it's bad to you, and you would never buy it. I might need 10 in my house. They might work perfect for my needs.
And you might hate them and sell the prototype to a rando at a convention. Which is irrelevant to any video I'd want to watch, reviewing a product.
@@boburanus69 you really thought you were cooking with that essay lol

The MKBHD one made me lose brain cells. I saw Business Insider imply that MKBHD could potentially discourage and stunt innovation with his negative reviews. It’s becoming very VERY clear people think reviewers are nothing more than “influencers”

@@Ironcorgi2 seriously my son is literally my life. If anything happens to him I would loose my mind.
I don’t understand why some people are upset about negative reviews. It makes them seem like they want people to buy useless/terrible stuff.
They don't want to feel stupid for buying into, or just actually buying a product that's been hyped up rather than being good.
This issue has been around since a long time ago. I remember after I gave a restaurant a negative review after a very bad experience, and received a slew of horrible comments from people who "loved" the place (I think it was the owner and her family). Just an FYI it was a family owned pizza place that made my family and I wait over two hours for a cheese pizza (while the tables who were sat after us were getting theirs in a timely manner), and when we finally got our pizza, it was so burnt it was practically inedible. Tried talking to the owner, but she wouldn't respond at all, she just ignored me until we walked out without paying, then she started screaming at us and threatening to call the cops. I looked her straight in the eyes and said "Go ahead, we'll see whose side they'll take after hear you made us wait over two hours for a pizza so burnt you could use it as charcoal." loud enough for the whole floor to hear. She never called the cops.
Because they do want people to buy useless/terrible stuff-like their own useless/terrible products.
Lowering standards of quality is beneficial to a sect of capitalistic people. It opens the margins of how much money they can make aka scam from consumers.
On the one hand, I can understand the perspective, which I think is basically "this guy is so influential that a single bad review from him can basically tank any company he wants, and it would be very easy for him to take advantage of that, or potentially play favorites with certain companies that send him stuff or pay him for a review" - and I kinda agree with that stance in general: it can be very dangerous if the wrong person has that much power.
But in this specific case, I happen to agree with Marques that the product is a piece of shit, so it deserves the criticism. If the criticism is just the TRUTH, then IMO it's perfectly valid. It only becomes a problem when it's based on lies or is totally biased, which I think can be a pretty fine line in certain situations - but this doesn't seem to be one of those situations.
They don’t want buyers remorse 😂 i can’t believe it was such a big deal that Phil has to make a segment about it. I thought it was pretty obvious consumers don’t want half baked products.

THANK YOU PHIL, I say it all the time when some protest complaint comes up like " it's so disrespectful" and then I ask them " what were they protesting?" I haven't ever heard a complete correct response. so THANK YOU for transitioning to talk about Israel and Palestine.
Yeah too bad most protesters are just kids taking on a tankie ideology because it’s cool. Without actually knowing much about the conflict. Nothing wrong with being against wars or civilians dying but praising one side and blaming everything on the other is always an incoherent position.
I mean, i am on the side of the protestors but why didn't they just raise the flag next to the american one? It sounded like they wanted this reaction. I might just be ignorant though. Who knows.
Exactly. The fact they never give an actual response to that question proves they know damn well they're in the wrong, & they're just trying to hide it. They know that the average good samaritan won't support them if they know the truth.
@@dannyg.4421 There was only one flag pole, and generally most flag poles only come with one set of flag snaps to hook a flag too. You can buy extra flag snaps, but I'm guessing people didn't plan ahead.
That said, general flag etiquette for flags of multiple countries requires them to be flown on separate poles at the same height. It's considered disrespectful to both countries if two national flags are flown on one pole. Hence why at the UN there's a flag pole for every country that's part of the UN.

MKBHD hit the nail on the head. This is essentially every AAA video game publisher. Rush garbage to market, piss off fans, make a thousand updates and hope one resolves most of the issues.
The thing that pisses me off the most about the attempts to block adult content "for the children" is that it's forcing unrelated adults to change their behavior or give up their rights to privacy because some people refuse to watch their children while they are using the internet. Children should be supervised if you don't want them accessing content that may be harmful to them and to make sure no one is trying to take advantage of them. The onus is being put on the wrong people in this situation.
It's not like it's difficult either. Companies have made it very easy to install safety and monitoring apps. You have to make a lot of excuses not to use them.
@@caitthecat I recently saw someone point something out that hadn't occurred to me that I think is related to this. When I was first getting on the internet in the early 00s there were people who made it a point to talk about internet safety, and there was a big culture of pirating. Because of this people using the internet at the time generally had an increased awareness of internet safety and the know how to skirt around and fix problems or find workarounds. But then we figured everyone knew how to do that so we stopped teaching it. But now everyone is on the internet and most of them never got the lesson on how to do anything other than rely on big companies to do all the work for them so you have a huge user base that is helpless and don't even know you CAN install safety features unless it's pasted right in front of their face. Is it partially laziness? Yes. But I also think it's that people just don't know and they don't think to look up a solution. So now it's everyone's problem...
This one is complicated. Do we "protect" children from adult content on the internet. Yes. But saying adults have to show an ID where it can be used to see where they live & thier private activity...that becomes privacy problems. My concern would be what else would they look at and could any of it be used to against you. Too much intrusion in the name of child safety.
To me its so funny to see the stat that want the least oversight from the gouverment have the most invasive laws
I agree, but then people need to stop complaining about parents invading their children's privacy.

How is MKBHD reviewing something negatively a drama?
It is just a product, which sucks.
MKBHD has always been truthful.
I'm a software developer (for games, but the point still stands) and it's really getting frustrating to see not only the quality of products being released, but the backlash to any sort of criticism of said products. So many of these products seem like they should really still be in alpha testing. I'm fixing bugs like "resizing the window then going full screen again when this graphic is on-screen causes the UI to scale incorrectly for a half second" just to get to Beta. And these companies are charging hundreds of dollars for products that cannot yet pass "ask 5 questions and get the correct answers". They can't even get it to do that for a promo video, they had to edit it after the fact!
A lot of gamers are sick of games being rushed
The shitty Agile process at work! Min viable product at least gets some product out the door, amirite?
I truly detest the Agile process...
Even directly in your industry, they're doing the same thing. It's only been a handful of years that we've all been purchasing "Early Release" games to support the game being built in the first place. And they're all riddled with bugs.
Even some of the biggest games on the market are still labeled "Pre-Release" or the like.

As someone that met their current partner through Bumble, something that attracted me to the app was the uniqueness of a first interaction, and how the app attracts more people that are trying to be more outgoing and like to do things differently. I understand why the change, but it feels like its going to be another Tinder, and if you used Tinder… then you know how the vibe there is 😅
Don't know how long ago you met your partner, but as someone that gave the app a try back in January-February, I can assure you it was already a yellow-honeybee-themed Tinder before this change
I do admit the experience is likely very dependent on the demographics of one's area, but I found nothing but unserious people even if their profile stated otherwise

"Women said making the first move was lot of work or a burden." I fukken lol'd
Philip has always been and always will be CZcams's sweetheart. His integrity, goodness and authenticity are just transparently clear.
As a male, I was a fan of the rule that women message first on Bumble. It serves as another filter ensuring that the only conversations that start are from women who are motivated and interested enough to _actually bother_ to start the conversation. In a world of instant gratification and short attention spans - that's actually a huge benefit.
Couldn't agree more on this. When we want a world that is more equal for all including in social spaces, why is the response "ok yeah, but I dont want to put in the work"? I think if we pushed to normalize Women taking the first move it would drastically change the dating scene in meaningful positive ways.
This is literally the reason I got on Bumble in the first place. After being on other dating apps trying to start a conversation every time it is a breath of fresh air on having the woman start the conversation and typically an indication that she was interested. Now with these changes it becomes like all other dating apps.
Essentially women got a taste of what the majority online dating is for men, and they said “Nah, fuck that.”
As a woman, I think this was a great idea for both ends. I've never been on a dating site (thankfully) but have heard enough😅 I'm wondering if this is mostly the fact *some* of the women just want attention (positive dopamine and boost to confidence) from many people, not an actual relationship. By having to "go first" they aren't getting those constant messages of people hitting on them/attention. They have to start it, and if they don't actually want a relationship, why would they? That would be considered "hard work". NOW. I'm NOT saying this is all people (let's be fair, some men like all the attention also) BUT...I think it would help weed out the attention seekers vs. Relationship seekers. There is already apps for F buddies/1 night stands, why not one for actual dating? I get some women also do struggle with reaching out first (shy) and also some men do, so it seemed like a solid idea to have this app plus the others. They each seemed to serve their own purpose 🤷♀️
I also could be completely off the mark 😂 I'm socially awkward and haven't been on social media actively or dating sites, so...that's possible too 😅
As a woman who used Bumble and left for a different dating app, I think this is actually the perfect way to do it, and if I was single I'd go back to Bumble for this feature. At first I liked the idea of me being the one making the first move on men. I thought the benefits would include logging in to fewer dick pics in my inbox, but more than that I assumed that men would be more choosy in their matches on a site like Bumble (where they're giving up a lot of control). In practice, I wasted a lot of time talking to guys who had no interest in actually dating. If they were interested in dating, they only wanted to date women who made ALL the moves. They seemed to expect me to ask them on the first date and if that happened they didn't make a next move or follow-up on the date afterwards. The one guy I dated long-term who happened to be on Bumble (we didn't meet there), was the most passive man I've ever dated in my life. And it turns out that's just not my jam. As a woman who grew up in the 90s being chased by men and boys, having to initiate killed my libido and my self-esteem.
I think this is a good balance of both. If I match with a woman whose question is completely generic, I can assume she's just trolling for attention/onlyfans. If her question is unique or intrigues me, it could spark a conversation and she's more likely to be a real person. If I match with a man or woman who answers with lame single word responses, I know that they're probably gonna be a disappointment and I won't get my hopes up. However, I also gave every match a chance. Starting a conversation online can be difficult. Especially when you've been on the apps for a while. I'm always particular with who I like on dating apps. Otherwise, the apps do me no good, and I might as well go out with people I meet at bars.
I’ve recently divorced after nearly ten years together. Even though we actually originally met on a dating app, back then they were pretty new and it feels completely different now. It doesn’t even feel like “dating” anymore. It’s just a game. And the amount of ghosting is so high, because the whole time you’re talking to someone, the app is actively trying to entice you to get back in and keep swiping.
Honestly not having the burden to go first was the best part in bumble
The first story is like something you'd hear about on The Misery Machine, here on CZcams.

I work in an industry that is constantly under threat to be replaced by AI, and something my boss said has stuck with me: The people who are currently working on AI tech are stuck in a silicon valley bubble and have forgotten how to create something the public is actually interested in. And the funny thing is the company stated it liked MKBHD's constructive criticism and supports MKBHD to make negative reviews. Which is rather refreshing from one of these AI companies.

I vivaciously rolled my eyes at the quoted article from the bumble segment. Like yeah you're right it's a lot of work and a big burden to be responsible for making the first move. Welcome to the club.
In my public speaking class in college, I did an assignment on video games coming out too early. I asked my class, "Would you buy an apple at full price, only for the store associate to cut it in half and promise that you'll get the rest later on?" Of course I got a resounding no. I informed them that's the state of gaming right now, and if companies in other markets saw that they could make a profit off this, selling half-finished/barely finished products, this trend would seep into those other markets, and it has. If you are purchasing something, the expectation should be that this is a complete, functional, and optimized product.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with calling companies out on it, big or small, when products are not. I don't understand why the conversation isn't around companies releasing half-finished products instead of one CZcamsrs review on the product, especially a CZcamsr whose sole motive is to inform consumers on if they should be spending money on this. It's absolutely ridiculous.
I want to note that I'm all for the "reviews" of those products/software (can barely be reviewed after all). But I want to make a slight distinction here and note that the companies are not the major factor at fault here. The market literally tells these products managers and resource managers that they can shop stuff early. The problem is consumers. The people buying this crap are the problem. It's the same with people going to watch a movie before they see some initial critical reception (from trusted sources, of course). Disney and Netflix and CZcamsrs and Game developers and Product manufacturers will NEVER stop making garbage until people start giving af about what they spend their time and money on more seriously.
Critics and reviewers are critical parts of a well run economy. They save time to the average consumer to do research, especially for industries they might not know much about. When you go to the cinema, you could buy a ticket to watch the next Disney disaster because, well, it's the new big shiny thing, or you could go watch this niche foreign film that is an amazing time. I've never bought a video game that hasn't fully released unless it has been a few years with proof of great consistent updates (see No Man's Sky). I've never pre-ordered video games or watched movies blind EXCEPT if I was willing to be disappointed from the get go (very rare). The only thing I will go blind on anything I see is with Japanese comics (manga). From my channel it's easy to see it's a huge hobby of mine and there I'm my own reviewer. Exploring that space is interesting to me. But most people don't look to "explore a space". They just want something functional or entertaining and there are zero reasons not to go for a trusted reviewer or critic to get a quick summary of the pros and cons.
Until consumers change their behavior, the market will never stop and congregate at the lowest common denominator. Unfinished products and software makes sense when people pay for it. If money wasn't there this stuff would never be released like that (or it will and probably be sued for lying if the falsely advertised).
Have standards people. Refine your taste in media. Find people who align with your view in various product/service mediums. Measure twice; cut once. Spend more time on research and you'll be rewarded not only with that singular decision but also in the future with products more likely being shipped at a higher quality to meet that demand and standard you've set.
And companies:
If you adhere to high standards right now, it will give you an edge of loyalty and trust. A few videogame companies and film studios have that like Larian, FromSoftware, Ufotable and A24. Good luck out there in this crazy world~!
