When I saw TLJ for the first time it was just a week or two after I had moved to a new state, and just a few months into my first and only -healthy- relationship, and a few months into being employed for the first time in two years. My life had changed drastically in just the last year. Nice vid! But one thing that just seems off with the whole yoda-race: in a certain lego set, there was another yoda-like jedi master, there wasn't any other infos, but it certainly was a different model. Wow, i knew that the lego star wars figure book was agreat investion 10 years ago...
I maybe should have done that... If you look close in some scenes you can see that they are brown eyes with big black pupils, and even a bit of white sclera when he goes all wild eyed- but the appearance is pretty much black in most shots.
Episode 9 will introduce the D-o droid this week, which appears to be their BB-8 of this year. The cute character destined to sell toys. Then baby Yoda happened.....
This is the way. Been watching a lot of your stuff since finding your recent airbrushing video. Season 2 is going to be awesome can't believe Asoka is going to come to the live screen. Oh no am I about to go on another TLJ rant? Dude you get it, when Luke met Yoda for the first time he was messing with him so when I saw that side of him come back in TLJ I knew immediately Rian didn't understand what he was writing. People have even defend it saying it was another side of his personality despite never ever seeing him act like this again. Oh man I'm triggered again, well cheers for the video man! Also about pissed my pants on "is baby yoda manipulating people?" so you win the internet today man.... you win...
Im still working on getting better with my brush work this channel has helped me along the way. I can make really really nice looking prints from my elegoo mars or cr 10s pro i just can never seem to get them to pop the way i want woth highlights. Keep the videos coming and ill keep improving slowly with it :) After all art is something thats never perfect and always more to learn im sure everyone is unhappy with certain aspects of thier works.
Hey Kyle! I'm so glad that this is channel is helpful to you. One of the awesome things about having a printer is the almost limitless supply of test models to keep honing your skills. You can paint the same model a few times and not stress out about it, just keep trying new ways to paint and you'll keep on getting better & better :-)
I dont know if you have any experience with resin printers, so I'm just gonna throw these two cents at you: - Dont always put the prints in the middle of the build surface, that wears the FEP film out FAST - The object is best oriented in a way that there is no large surface area on support structure, otherwise it might not stick to those supports - The FEP film needs to be changed when it is cloudy or has indents from handling - The isopropanol from the washing steps can be put under UV light and the resin will fall out of solution as a cured, gel-like substance, so you can reuse the saturated isopropanol - Experiment with layer exposure times. Lower times mean that the support will break free easier and with less post-processing needed, but the print will be less sturdy and more rubber-like - Drainage holes are needed in larger hollow prints, otherwise your cured prints might leak uncured resin after a few weeks Thats all. Also, great video, as always
OK this is all SUPER helpful, I should print this out and stick it to my printer. Your point on drainage holes is especially timely, I just printed a big hollow yoda and I'm getting leakage :-)
So far, so good! I seem to be in a position where these companies want me to test our their resin printers, and my suspicions are that they will all be pretty similar. Still, this one had some clever little features that I liked, nice and easy to calibrate, it came with good test files and tutorial videos, all & all not bad. :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies The past few times I've stopped by Hobby Lobby I've glanced at the Bandai Star Wars kits, and thought "how cool would it be to get one of those AT-ST's and doctor it up like the one in The Mandalorian". I think it would be very cool. :)
On printed stuff like this cape you can use milliput watered down to almost goop and old brushes to smooth out surfaces that the printer cant do just right
I watch your videos since the beginning but only now recognized that you are left handed oO Nice Job as always. Is it possible that you explain your support approach when 3d printing? Im kinda sucking at this
Hey Patrick! Yep, left handed. I never notice these things ever :-) For my first models I did what Danny recommended. czcams.com/video/S4KRazqrMjE/video.html Nowadays I'm more and more trying to build my own supports in chitubox. I'm using a large raft ~150% to stick everything to the build plate, and I'm using the larger diameter supports. I normally do the chitubox autosupport. From there I add as many supports as I can to the bottom of feet and other places that won't show on the final model, and I remove as many as I can from areas that will show on the final model, while making sure that I don't leave any large "islands" For example on this model the electro-bayonette prongs of his gun absolutely need supports building up to them or they would have nothing to attach to as the print is working. Dunno if any of this made sense, I'm still learning myself! :-)
Exciting times! They're almost exactly the same size, pretty much direct competitors. I may do a full comparison someday, but so far they're both working and the quality is definitely comparable.
@@GoobertownHobbies Nice, one day I might invest in one since it is a cheaper way to get mini's xD And I can get some of the minis I have created on hero Forge.
Great video! I love that all the miniature painters I follow have been doing something with the Mandolorian! I have a quick question, though. For airbrushing primers, is milk still the consistency I am looking for? I'm using a .3mm needle in my brush and Stynores primers by badger. I can get a decent coat for the first miniature, but after that it just splatters everywhere. I scrape the needle with my fingernails or a small wire brush when it starts but it just keeps doing it.
I do a lot of my priming with unthinned badger stynylrez through a .5mm needle, I haven't had many problems at all with jams. I'm normally around 30 PSI
@@GoobertownHobbies Thank you so much! I guess it could be my thinning and the smaller needle. Back to amazon I go! I believe I have watched all of your videos at this point and I'm starting to have withdrawals! haha
Great model and paint job. I wondered what you could be done with the print supports, good to see them being used on the base. I can imagine that the support struts themselves would make epic pipe work for a futuristic or steampunk themed model and base.
So if I remember right Jorge Lucas said that Yoda's race wasn't going to be a race, more like beings that are part of the force that guided force sensitive's. So they are definitely all force sensitive and more intuned with the force.
@@GoobertownHobbies Who knows if they will or not. I wish they used the expanded universe to make the movies. After finding out about the show I'm thinking maybe someone at Disney know something about Star Wars unlike the director's who made the movies.

Ooh.. I think the bigature bug bit you :) Nice. I've been eyeing this model too, but I wanted to print it at 1/6 scale. However while nice I think the proportions are too tabletop for Mando to be any larger than what you printed perhaps. Holding out for a different model to print large. There are a few baby Yodas too, thinking 1:1 scale. Is Yoda then considered a prop? Thanks for the video as always. Oh oh... Agree on everything on the show. I was a bit apprehensive 1st episode about a few things, like him being touted as god's gift to making things dead and some wild Blerg almost have him for dinner had it not been for Nick Nolte. The music was the other thing, but I've come to feel the music is amazingly good and apt!
Hehehe, it's a good thing that these printers aren't larger, the size of the print plate keeps me from making anything TOOO big :-) but yeah It's a lot of fun to see what models look like if you just make them huge. And yeah, the justaposition of taking out a bar full of baddies vs getting eaten by a blerg within the space of 15 minutes was a bit worrying, but luckily the show seems to have moved away from that.
This class of printer is like 250-400 depending on the brand and sales and such. And I dunno about mastery, but I was able to get pretty nice looking prints on my first day. I think these are gonna be a really big part of the hobby within in the next few years.

Nice vid! But one thing that just seems off with the whole yoda-race: in a certain lego set, there was another yoda-like jedi master, there wasn't any other infos, but it certainly was a different model. Wow, i knew that the lego star wars figure book was agreat investion 10 years ago...
I think a couple extra yoda-types have showed up in some old video games too. Hopefully "baby yoda" will clear this whole mess up :-)
I wish baby yoda's eyes were all black! for that baby seal effect he has in the show
I maybe should have done that... If you look close in some scenes you can see that they are brown eyes with big black pupils, and even a bit of white sclera when he goes all wild eyed- but the appearance is pretty much black in most shots.
Even here the mouses power grows.
Episode 9 will introduce the D-o droid this week, which appears to be their BB-8 of this year. The cute character destined to sell toys. Then baby Yoda happened.....
I eagerly await a new batch of post-episode 9 baby yoda memes.
Goobertown / RedLetterMedia crossover when?
WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!??? Make sure to watch the rem lezar episode!
Looking forward to your next top 10!
Also about pissed my pants on "is baby yoda manipulating people?" so you win the internet today man.... you win...
Jon Favreau was the Mandalorian with the Minigun and jetpack
So many cameos!! :-)
He voiced him, but didn't act him.
Im still working on getting better with my brush work this channel has helped me along the way. I can make really really nice looking prints from my elegoo mars or cr 10s pro i just can never seem to get them to pop the way i want woth highlights. Keep the videos coming and ill keep improving slowly with it :)
After all art is something thats never perfect and always more to learn im sure everyone is unhappy with certain aspects of thier works.
Hey Kyle! I'm so glad that this is channel is helpful to you. One of the awesome things about having a printer is the almost limitless supply of test models to keep honing your skills. You can paint the same model a few times and not stress out about it, just keep trying new ways to paint and you'll keep on getting better & better :-)
I totally expected this to be listed under the “makes” in thingiverse but it’s not! Fantastic job Brent!
I dont know if you have any experience with resin printers, so I'm just gonna throw these two cents at you:
- Dont always put the prints in the middle of the build surface, that wears the FEP film out FAST
- The object is best oriented in a way that there is no large surface area on support structure, otherwise it might not stick to those supports
- The FEP film needs to be changed when it is cloudy or has indents from handling
- The isopropanol from the washing steps can be put under UV light and the resin will fall out of solution as a cured, gel-like substance, so you can reuse the saturated isopropanol
- Experiment with layer exposure times. Lower times mean that the support will break free easier and with less post-processing needed, but the print will be less sturdy and more rubber-like
- Drainage holes are needed in larger hollow prints, otherwise your cured prints might leak uncured resin after a few weeks
Thats all. Also, great video, as always
OK this is all SUPER helpful, I should print this out and stick it to my printer. Your point on drainage holes is especially timely, I just printed a big hollow yoda and I'm getting leakage :-)
I heard good reviews for this 3d printer - NICE!!
So far, so good! I seem to be in a position where these companies want me to test our their resin printers, and my suspicions are that they will all be pretty similar. Still, this one had some clever little features that I liked, nice and easy to calibrate, it came with good test files and tutorial videos, all & all not bad. :-)
I wish I had a 3D printer, I'd love to paint these.
I love your videos so much. Did you resize the scale or just print as is? Thanks for making such great content.
Great video! I've really enjoyed The Mandalorian, too.
You've really been breaking out the large scale, display pieces lately. :)
Hey Keane!! Yeah this show is great- I'll have to find some more star wars stuff worth crafting between seasons :-)
Ooooh a new 3d Printer, is it bigger than the old one?
Exciting times! They're almost exactly the same size, pretty much direct competitors. I may do a full comparison someday, but so far they're both working and the quality is definitely comparable.
@@GoobertownHobbies Nice, one day I might invest in one since it is a cheaper way to get mini's xD
And I can get some of the minis I have created on hero Forge.
Dude I want one!!!!
The worlds most dangerous drinking game: take a swig every time Brent says Baby Yoda........ ;)
It's not my fault that the show didn't give him a name or a species name or even a gender! :-)
Goobertown Hobbies Let's all just hope they give Baby Yoda a name next friday, in the season finale : D
@@sigurdbjohansson Right there with ya!
Great video I would love more content like this!
Hey thanks! This was a fun little change, I might have to do it more often! :-)
Cool!
Love ya bud.
That looks awesome Brent ! I recently decided against getting a printer due to space limitations but seeing that is giving me some regrets !
:-) Someday, someday It is pretty fun to be able to acquire almost any mini you can dream up with an overnight print...
Oh yeah, I'm definitely saving those little pipes- their day will come!
@@GoobertownHobbies oooh intriguing!!!
What color is the armor plating? Brown? Red? Reddish Brown? Brownish Red?
2:27 holy cow that's a good point
Hey Goobertown, do you still use your Longer Orange 30? Looking into adding a resin printer. I have a couple FDM's. It seems to print well.
would love to share my version of this model but not sure where I can?
What color did you go with for the helmet?
So if I remember right Jorge Lucas said that Yoda's race wasn't going to be a race, more like beings that are part of the force that guided force sensitive's. So they are definitely all force sensitive and more intuned with the force.
Cool! I wonder if disney will stick with that in the 'new' canon- whatever we find out should be fascinating :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies Who knows if they will or not. I wish they used the expanded universe to make the movies. After finding out about the show I'm thinking maybe someone at Disney know something about Star Wars unlike the director's who made the movies.
Some folks are speculating that Baby Yoda is a clone because of the dorky Imperial scientist guy's uniform being Kaminoan
@@Bawgle Interesting. I'm not sure, I haven't been able to watch it, but from what I heard it seems really cool. Much better then episode 7 or 8.
yes you got the FLUFFY as co star and yes as mell brooks says space ball 11 the sitch fore morre monny and that what the baby yoda is thats my take on it see as post and may shorts be with youz
May the Schwartz be with you as well! :-)
Beautifully painted Brent! I have been think about a resin 3D printer but I have been concerned about the fumes in the printer. I hope you will do a tutorial on the resin printing method.
Thanks! and Indeed I will! I just need to keep printing and researching until I feel like a reasonable spokesperson on the subject :-)
@@GoobertownHobbies Thanks, I will look forward to it.
And yeah, the justaposition of taking out a bar full of baddies vs getting eaten by a blerg within the space of 15 minutes was a bit worrying, but luckily the show seems to have moved away from that.
its based on the "Babycart killer" film seriers
Hot damn thats awesome. I'm in the market for a 3d printer and dont know if I should get a filament or resin printer. My limit is $500
It's a baby goblin shaman.
but he floats around like a slaan! :-)
How much would this printer cost? And how long would it take for one to master resin printing?
This class of printer is like 250-400 depending on the brand and sales and such. And I dunno about mastery, but I was able to get pretty nice looking prints on my first day. I think these are gonna be a really big part of the hobby within in the next few years.
If allowing-Disney-to-blatantly-tap-into-my-childhood-nostalgia-and-manipulate-me-to-empty-my-wallet is WRONG, I dont want to be RIGHT!
But seriously, great vid! Keep the awesome content rolling.
:-)
Hey goober! Did you see g.w did sculpt my ," get of my lawn" tho with Hobbits! Don't know it you have the same g.w website as Australia tho
