    I've been using the G7 and I have no regrets. The kit lens has surprised me. With that said I do have the 25mm F1.4., which is awesome. I've enjoyed photography again, I would recommend the G7 without reservations.

    I went with the g7. I love it so far! The a6300 would have had me sold but I wanted a fully articulating touch screen. Maybe The Gh5 will have amazing auto focus Like the canon 80d. Then I will get that.

      +wyo russ After shooting with Panasonic you'll find the Canon image incredibly soft. I did some Beta testing on the G-6, which was and still is one of the best cameras I've ever shot on, including high end cinema cameras costing 10x more. The G7 seems to have the same mojo as the g6, though I haven't got my hands on one yet ,Thanks Panasonic!!! still waiting!!!The new Sony rx10iii has an incredible feature set, I've never thought I would take a second glance at a camera with a built in lens, but that camera is crazy good. 1' Sensor, which is a bit smaller than m4/3rds, or equivalent to s16mm film cam, but with the 24-600 lens, you wont have any issue getting a shallow dof when needed. The real gem is it shoots 960fps in 1080p. Pretty incredible for a 1,400 camera.

    ok I have used both camera. I own the g7. If your on a budget go with the g7 for sure, In terms of which is better they are pretty much the same its just about the features rather than quality.
    Reason for the for g7:
    * it has a fully articulating screen
    * it does not overheat
    * much better rolling shutter (not great but much better than the a6300)
    * lenses are cheaper for micro four thirds systems
    * with good lenses Its better for photography (In My Opinion)
    * lighter and easier to carry around and use
    * both cameras are good at low light up 6400 iso
    Auto focus is not as bad as people say but it depends what you shoot and if you need it. (for me its pretty much ok)

  • @mondobytes
    @mondobytes Před 8 lety +25

    Good video man! A few things not mentioned that I think are worth noting is that the a6300 uses the whole sensor so there is no pixel binning. But most important is that it's taking a 6K Image and down-scaling it 4K. Funny when you zoomed in to 200% the a6300 looks way cleaner so you're going to get a much sharper image.
    Also, the a6300 is weather sealed and the G7 is not. That can be a huge deal breaker, I was in New York shooting with my a6300 and it started to rain and wasn't a big deal. The G7 in fact would have to be stored away and kept safe. And last thing if you use a Speedbooster with the a6300 the rolling shutter is almost non existent, pretty amazing if you ask me.

    Tengo la Sony a6300. Estuve comparando las dos cámaras una semana antes de comprarla. El autofocus en la g7 es algo flojo. En la Sony es increíblemente rápido y preciso. El 4k en la g7 no es malo pero la Sony graba en 6k y lo escala a 4k.
    El tema del calentamiento que tanto mencionan en la Sony se arregló con la última actualización. Ahora dura el doblé de tiempo sin que se apague sola por sobre calentamiento. El Viewfinder en la Sony se puede usar en 120p y créanme que se ve mucho mejor que en la g7.
    Mi consejo es que si buscan una cámara para viajes, ser Blogger o algo que no requiera algo tan Profesional la g7 es para ti.
    Si por otro lado buscan crear contenido multimedia para producción, filmación en eventos grandes, cortometrajes o documentales con alta calidad y detalle vayan por la Sony. ////////////////////////////////////////////////////
    I have the Sony a6300. I was comparing the two cameras a week before buying it. The autofocus on g7 is somewhat loose. On the Sony it is incredibly fast and precise. The 4k on the g7 is not bad but the Sony records at 6k and scales at 4k.
    The issue of warming that both mentioned in the Sony was fixed with the latest update. Now it lasts twice as long as it does not go out alone due to overheating. The Viewfinder on the Sony can be used at 120p and believe me it looks much better than on the g7.
    My advice is that if you are looking for a camera for travel, be a Blogger or something that does not require something so Professional the g7 is for you.
    If on the other hand they seek to create multimedia content for production, filming in large events, short films or documentaries with high quality and detail go by the Sony.

    • @patrickb4750
      @patrickb4750 Před 8 lety +1

      So... the sony produces great 4k, but overheats and s-log3 is worthless because it outputs at 8bit, making grading difficult. HD is really disappointing, so you're reliant on downsampling from 4k... the problem is that 4k doesn't allow for slow-mo, so all the fps/time-lapse functionality goes out the window... and then there's the rolling shutter. Ergonomics have always been problematic and there's no touchscreen, which would solve a whole host of those issues... Sony have crammed a boat-load of tech into this camera but it appears that many of it's selling points are hamstrung in one way or another....

    Nice review ...sony a 6300 is a very good camera but i have g7 and i love it .I shall use it for short films,and as someone told ,focus on art (shots ,lighthing ,grading,acting etc) and not so much hunting the technology issues.of course black magic and gh4 are better for filming but my personal opinion for all ,that have not the budget of buying a black magic cinema ,sony ,or gh4 ,grab a decent camera as g7 spend extra money if you can on good lens ,even good cheap lens (fujiyan for 15 euros) and just focus on technical features of art.For me the double and more money beetwen sony a6300 and g7, would lead me to prefer to buy an extra g7 or a second hand black magic pocket (to cover the better grading)than the sony 6300 and i repeet this is my personal opinion

    If your budget is around $500, then this is a no brainer. Because at a $500 budget you are now limited between the a6000 and the G7. Both are at the same pricepoint. Now your talking about non-4k (a6000) vs 4k capable. And I wouldnt even just say capable, it's high quality 4k. Only the pixel peepers would notice differences between the G7 and Sony a6300. Your average CZcams and Instagram follower wouldn't even notice or care about the subtle differences. But the price difference is not so subtle. Now you can ALWAYS say if pricepoint wasnt an issue then Sony beats out Panasonic's G7 all day, however the title of this video, which is very well put together, is BUDGET 4k. Sony is not budget, can also be argued, but what if someone's budget was $800? Everyone's version of "budget" is different as well. If someone's budget is $800, then they can get a G7+kitlens in addition to a Zoom or Prime lens. Or purchase just an a6300 with kit lens. The tracking, 120fps, as well as lower light capability would be probably huge determining factors for opting for the Sony.

    I went from Sony cameras to Panasonic cameras for video because of the lens selection and price. the 6300 is an awesome camera but not having an articulating touch screen makes it a tough choice for 'on the go' style shooting. There's also a deal on G7 right now where you get the G7, a 25mm fixed + 14-140mm lens for the price of the 6300. Good Sony lenses are just too pricey.

    Hey Waj, great video! I was wondering how the lens turbo adapter performs in terms of unwanted glare and lens flare. I see some glare and softness in the shots where you're talking directly to the camera; is this a side-effect of using the adapter? Thank you for your help!

  • @timmark4190
    @timmark4190 Před 8 lety

    Pros: of G7 If you shoot video by yourself, the articulating screen is a must.. Also when both the camera and the lenses are cheaper it helps a lot more.
    Cons: Am not convinced about the G7s photo capability but for video its great. The auto focus is not great. You can get away with shooting with higher aperture(greater depth of field) and manually focusing.
    For the money G7 is a much better choice.

      @wesleyjordan8349 Před 8 lety +1

      +Jorge Martinez You're only speaking as a bargain basement shopper, rather than understanding that people have specific shooting needs. Who cares that you can buy 2 of something for the price of 1 of something else. That's a silly argument. Cheap price doesn't and shouldn't be considered if a camera doesn't satisfy the consumer. I don't like the slow focusing on the G7. That automatically rules it out. And for a micro 4/3 camera it's strange that it's so much bigger than most APS-C cams.

      Call me a bargain basement shopper, but at the end of the day my cheap g7 allows me to get more clients for their weddings and quinceañeras.
      The g7 can do the same as the a6300 at a fraction of the cost. If you run your own business and you feel a 5dm3 or a7s or whatever full frame cameras fills your needs, then more power too you. just don't underestimate the power of the g7 and the operator!!!

I managed to pick up the G7 with 14-42 kit lens for £257 when Panasonic run their cashback offer (around US $370). I'm sure the A6300 will be an amazing selling camera for Sony but I really hope that Sony bring out some quality reasonably priced lenses. At the moment their lens selection for E mount is either way to expensive or not very good when you compare what you can buy with the micro 4/3 system.

    The A6300 has more detail because its a native 6k sensor vs 4k on the G7. The rolling shutter is the worst out of any camera on the market, that isn't always an issue though. In low light conditions I've found 6400 on the A6300 not very usable. The max is 4000 iso for me. I wouldn't go over 1600 on the G7 though 3200 isn't too bad. The A6300 wins at 3200 vs the G7's 3200. It retains more detail. The dynamic range is defiantly better on the A6300 in both the cine and log gamuts. Its got more shadow detail and preserves highlights better. The highlight roll off isn't great. The 1080 modes on the G7 are very superior to the A6300 though you don't get 120fps. Video Autofocus on the Sony is amazing though and kills the G7.

    Well the IQ and size is easily on the A6300 side. No question that it gives better IQ but the question is, is it worth that much more money for the better IQ. That will depend on the needs of each person of course.
    If the G7 was at least the same size, it would be a good choice for me as a smaller body to carry around but the bigger size on a smaller sensor is never a combination that works for me.
