    What are some reasons why you wouldn’t recommend gerbils?? 😱🐹

      In my opinion they are very messy so you might have to tidy up their enclosure once in a while but it is definitely worth it☺️

      Because it seems like almost all of the groups start biting till blood one day.

      They don't give much love back like cats or dogs. And also they are exotic animals.

      @@j.s.4819 yeah although I am not sure why people look for cat and dog behavior in prey animals 😩

    I use to have gerbils :3 my black gerbil was super friendly, curious, and playful, even though he was often a little too energetic and skittish to be petted, he still let me pet him when I gave him treats. He always gave me a calm look and moved his ears down as I petted him while he was eating. Sadly he's gone now but even at an old age, he was still very energetic and I would let him out to climb onto my lap and stuff ^w^ He really loved the exercise ball!
    If you want a pet rodent that's cuddly, I would highly recommend guinea pigs! They are super laidback, alot less prone to biting (they are more nibblers), and love to snuggle up on your lap (and in their cage) once you get to know them! But like all rodents, guinea pigs will be super timid when you first get them so make sure you tame them with plenty handfeeding and be nice and slow with them :3

    Even blood related pairs like siblings or parent and kid can start biting and fighting serious and have to b separated.

    I’ve had my gerbils for almost a year now, even though I have no plan to get rid of them, I think the learning never stops with them! Ps. The work you put into your videos is great! I can imagine the amount of gerbil owners you have informed and helped through these videos :) keep it up!

    hi! a great video, a lot of important things. your channel is gold!
    i'd have a little question, really not so related to this but is coco fibre/soil safe for gerbils? i would love to get it in a digging box for my gerbs, but yeah, can I use it without worries? ^^

      Coconut coir works best out of the fiber and soil because the stands aren’t as big!

      you can get large wooden wheels from zooplus, amazon and etsy if that helps, also, don't get a runged or mesh wheel or anything smaller than 8 inches(20cm) hope that helps

    I've had both hamsters and gerbils, and I honestly don't recommend either for children because hamsters are nippy and gerbils are energetic. They do have similar care requirements but because they are different animals, they have many differences as well.

      I had 2 male gerbils 2 years ago. After a year together they de-clanned and it was pretty brutal for one and I never managed to put them back together even after following the steps from the veterinarian and the person who gave them to me. I'd like to take 2 gerbils again, but I'm afraid it'll happen again...Does it happen often ?

    I love your channel! I had gerbils as a kid but didn't know so much about them, though I loved them.. I am going to get some again someday and take the best care of them this time. I discovered that there is a gerbil society.. And there is an amazing registered breeder in my city! I know where my future gerbils will come from 🥰

    How loud are gerbils in comparison to hamsters or guinea pigs?

    • @finsandwhiskers
      @finsandwhiskers  Před 2 lety

      Not loud at all! The only loud thing and easily avoidable would be a wheel, but there are many silent spinning wheels. The wooden ones are soo silent! Gerbils do lil squeaks but they aren’t loud and they only squeak if annoyed at the other gerbils! Louder squeaks will be good for you to hear because they could be fighting.

    Do you recommend any cages under £100 ($140) If not are fish tanks suitable?

    • @_old_man_
      @_old_man_ Před 2 lety

      Savic Gerbilarium is around £43. It's plastic however apparently it's still okay for gerbils. Otherwise fish tanks are recommended and you can get custom cages for the top! Hope this helps!
