Reacting to Jerry Lee got my subscription. He represents no finer example of early rock and roll. And he was pretty tame here. He often kicked the chair out from under him at the piano, banged the keyboard with his foot (sounded good) and jumped on top of piano while singing. Jerry Lee had it all. Good song writer, singer, piano player and showman.

Jerry Lee was one of those energetic performers like Elvis, Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, who kicked off the "I can't keep my feet still" birth of rock and roll in the late 1950's. Great reaction, folks, to sixty-five-year-old music which still has that power!

Jerry Lee Lewis was one of the founding fathers of Rock 'n Roll along with Chuck Berry, Elvis, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, Little Richard and others. He came out of Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee shortly after Elvis.

Last one alive as well. Jerry almost died in 1980 due to a ruptured stomach. Everyone figured he would've been the first to go, but he's still kicking it at 86 years old i believe

Jerry Lee Lewis is not the only famous member of his family. His cousin is the evangelist Jimmy Swaggart. For those familiar with Swaggart, he is the guy who cried before the TV camera and in front of the audience at his mega-church in Louisiana, proclaiming "I Have Sinned!" after he was caught with a prostitute.
Swaggart tells the story when he and Jerry Lee were young, the family had a piano. The young Jerry Lee played and banged on that piano so hard that he literally tore it up over time.

Hi you two, before I start I just want to say I'm American born in 1958, I'm a Musician and Jerry Lee Lewis was one of the first performers at the birth of Rock-n-Roll. Theirs so many contributers but in the 1940s and 1950s but my 2 favorites are Big Joe Turner and "Chicken and the Hawk" or Howlin Wolf and "How many more Years", I'm sure you will be the first reactors but it seems like you liked "Great Balls of Fire" so I'm sure you would like both of them
