1959, And I was 5 living in San Diego. I can remember this being on the radio from that time. Jimmy Beaumont co - wrote this when he was still in High School. The high notes at the end by Janet Vogel were improvised in the studio and the producer liked it; so that ending was kept. RIP Jimmy Beaumont, Janet Vogel, Wally Lester, and Joe Verscharen. You are not forgotten.......
The great Jimmy Beaumont on lead vocals .. RIP...
the very high notes at the end were done by the female in the group Janet Vogel, the main lead singer was Jimmy Beaumont and at points they are singing simultaneously so you can hear that they are two separate voices :)
From that long ago Spring of '59 ; I was 12 y/o, in 7th grade. 17 y/o Jimmy BEaumont on lead, with 16 y/o Janet Vogel on that soat=ring soprano ! ------------RIP, to all Skyliners. --------------------MJL< 76 y/o
jimmy beaumont sang the lead, the last high notes were done by janet vogel ,the female in the group-they were from pittsburg pennsylvania
Pittsburgh
At the end of the song the girl Janet Vogel I believe it was said that she set some kind of a record for the highest active ever recorded on a song I'm not a 100% sure how that goes but that's what I was told and when she did that she was only 16 years old a phenomenal singer..
Thank you for your reaction to this beautiful love song.
FROM THE CLASSIC, " AMERICAN GRAFFITI" , RIP, JIMMY BEAUMONT. ---------------------------From '59.
Nostalgia hitting me hard.
When I hear this song I think of the movie American Graffiti.

Yes, There was the great singer Jimmy Beaumont lead singer and great Janet Vogel at the end. Definitely one of my favorite songs ever im listening to music since 1958. One of the greatest doowop songs ever.

17 y/o Jimmy Beaumont -------------& 16 y/o Janet Vogel + the other 3 guys -----------------recorded in New York, with a 24 piece orchestra---------Spring of '59--------------this was a classic slow dance song. --------------------------------Wolfsky9, 74 y/o
The group and their manager all co-wrote the song!!
Simply the greatest slow song ever made. Period. Pittsburgh born and raised Jimmy Beaumont and the Skyliners.
Great song and performance 👏👏👏👏
The very last high note as the song ends was sung by the backup singer, but everything before was by the main singer.
Janet Vogel was the back-up singer that reached high "C" at the end of this beautiful song!! A Navy band did a tremendous cover as well of this song!! It came out in 1959!!
Jimmy Beaumont was one of the greatest Doowop singers, this song is one of the greatest Doowop songs ever. All good for me. Janet Vogel added her beautiful falsetto voice at the end. This i Swear is just as good

Guns N Roses covered this on their Spaghetti incident album, and I recommend it. I like the original best, though. Peace!!!
the female of the group added the high note at and towards the end... you should also listen to the remake of this song by art garfunkel! beautiful..
I would have wagered cash that The Skyliners was a Black Do Wap singing group. Terrific version by Eddie Holman if you've never heard it.
Here is a band that has great songs, The Tymes there songs So in love and Somewhere.
