    Steering Wheel - you get the thicker M Sport Steering Wheel if you select the M Package ($3,200, which also includes some other options, including the aerodynamic kit and other wheel and color options). The model you tested is the base "Sport" model which has the less sporty steering wheel --BMW has ALWAYS done this.

      A clear demonstration of the difference between minimalism and simplicity.
      Minimalisn is when you reduce the number of tools needed to accomplish a task. Simplicity is the reduction of _actions_ needed to accomplish a task.
      In a Tesla, minimalism means you use the screen to open the glove box _and_ engage the one-pedal driving mode. Of course, you have to go through multiple pages on the screen to accomplish one task or even switch to the other task.
      The design of the i4 means you can activate or deactivate one-pedal driving by a simple flick of the gear selector. Now, the gear selector has no other function than to select gears (you certainly can't open the glove box with it). But it can do its job immediately and without fuss.

    6:00 - anybody notice the i4's actually have two different front clips on offer...? this version on the E40 looks like the original concept car (which I actually like better) but there's also the different front clip found on the Dual Motor i4 M50 (which is also what's fitted standard to all the ICE 440 models). now what's really going to "bake your noodle" is there are also lower trim Single Motor E40's that wear the higher trim M50/440's front clip. I guess depending on the option package chosen, the "Hofbrauhaus boys" swap that out for you. no reviewer has picked up on this yet but I also noticed the Single Motor E40 i went to see in person at a nearby dealer wore this front clip like the concept car. unfortunately didn't think to ask the salesmen about it at the time.

      This would be the M Sport package, made available to E40's. You get the M50's ends, the steering wheel, and the 19" dual spoke wheels. The E40 M Sport doesn't get the winged mirrors of the M50, however, so that's one way to tell them apart.

    Having paddles would mean additional weight and cost, just to adjust the regen, which is an action I can't imagine people carrying out often once they've grown accustomed to the car. Also there's a dynamic mode too I think which is probably what most will use. So if a car slows down ahead of you that you're quickly approaching it'll use max regen as need to scrub off speed quickly anyway but in some other scenario's it may use a dynamically use a lower setting.
    40 seems the better car for day to day use unless people just want the extra performance of the 50. I'd probably go with the smallest sized wheels just for the extra range too, and probably cheaper tyres.

    What's makes the Edrive 40 a "more fun" drive than the m50?

    • @Rancidnova
      @Rancidnova Před 7 měsíci

      The m50 doesnt allow you to drift in corners and is less fun to drive as it limits the power when steering in corners. The edrive 40 however lets you diable traction and basically floor it creating wheelspin on the back axle. Its power isnt limited in the corners.

    • @Rancidnova
      @Rancidnova Před 7 měsíci

      Owned both. M50 is a four wheel drive. Even with all traction off you’re still only to powerslide. Which is a boring version of a drift…

    • @Rancidnova
      @Rancidnova Před 7 měsíci

      Also the m50 has launch control. It does get boring to be the fastest on the road and below 150 km /h you’re basically leaving everyone behind that wants to drag race you.

  • @BogeyTheBear
    @BogeyTheBear Před 10 měsíci

    The M50 is not a true AWD, as it does not engage the front wheels constantly. The front motor kicks in on demand.
    This means that if you're not in the mood to drive like a maniac all the time, the front motor of the M50 will be dead weight for a not insignificant portion of the driving regime as it will cruise on the rear motor in order to conserve charge (honest question: Would the front wheels ever engage if the M50 is set to Eco mode?)
    Just sayin'-- if you got it, then _use_ it. On the other hand, the E40 does just fine without that extra weight.

    • @Rancidnova
      @Rancidnova Před 7 měsíci

      Exactly this. By my experience you cant use the full potential of all the wheels when cornering as the power gets limited to about 30%. Even with traction off its a rather disappointing experience to try and drift this car.

      Not true at all and I have had the car for 10k miles since August.
      I been getting an average range of 340 miles. The car can charge past 80% but the manufacturer recommends you keep the car between 20 and 80% which is a standard recommendation for nearly all ev vehicles to greatly reduce battery degradation. You only charge past 80% when you are taking long trips. 200 miles on a 60% charge is outstanding and I have had no need to drop the ac at all. When you look at range metrics what matters is the watts per mile aspect since that is the perfect indication for efficiency. 200 miles of range works for an overwhelming majority of people and the range nearly as good as a Tesla model 3 Long range. I was able to get my vehicle with a good amount of features for 57k (including dapp, parking assistant, driver recorder, a premium color, and the premium package).
