  • Today, I will be showing you guys how to install a new dimmer switch for a single-pole configuration or a 3-way configuration. I’ll be using the Lutron AYCL-153P-WH dimmer switch. This switch comes with a wire nut included in the box so all you need for this project is a screwdriver and a noncontact voltage tester/multimeter. This DIY project only took me about 10 minutes to complete! Good luck! You'll nail it!
    Hey guys my name is Blake also known as Nailed it here on CZcams and I make videos about DIY projects. I hope you guys enjoy the video and let me know if you have any questions about it in the comments and I will do my best to answer them. I hope you learned something today and saved some money in the meantime. Also, don't forget to nail that like button for the CZcams algorithm! ;)
    This is a new channel but more content will be coming soon! If you have any video suggestions please leave them in the comments!

    You can adjust the range of the dimmer with that blue dial under the switch cover. No need to cut power, since you will stay outside of where the wires are.

    Thank you for your instruction was awesome. Once we saw your video it only took 5 minutes to put together. The instruction and the video that came with the product was a joke could not understand what they were saying and was skipping steps. Lutron should use your video for the video for there company.

    Hey I have no idea why the views are so low on this video... its GREAT. A lot of videos for this process have thousands of views and it's super hard to see where they're putting the wires (and the colors are all over the place). Hopefully you keep this up the pictures we're a DIY savior here. And the detailed explanations really helped

    I've purchased a new Lutron Diva 8-Amp 0 to 10-Volt 3-Way/Single-Pole Dimmer - and plan to run 5 LED fixtures, operated from a single light switch. The dimmer switch itself has 5 wires (wht/blk/green - self explanitory) and also 2 small wires which I assume are low voltage for dimming. The home has standard 14-2 Romex wiring to the switch box. Not sure what to do with the 2 small wires.

    Three-way Leviton 6674-P0W install checking in. If you’re certain of your wiring but your switch works backwards, you most likely need to swap your traveler wires over.

    Set of led light were ocassionally flickering. I was told it might be the switch. When I started to pull the old switch it had never been grounded. I grounded it and reinstalled it. No flickering so far. Do you think this may have solved my problem. Flickering would come and go so I don’t know for sure yet.

    Great video. I have a complicated situation. Im trying to install a dimmer switch. But there is no ground wire im the junction box. What do I do? And also the switch im replacing has another switch right next to it but the black wire is connected to both switches! Idk what to do?

    • @BlakeHQ
      @BlakeHQ  Před 2 lety +1

      The ground wire is not necessary! A lot of older houses usually don’t have a ground! All it does is make the circuit safer so if you can add it great but if not it will still work just fine!
      The black wire is the “hot” wire. In order to switch the light on and off, you’ll need to “ interrupt” the circuit with the switch! That’s why it is most likely connected to both back wires!
      Is the second switch working still? If it’s working it should be fine and you won’t need to replace it? Let me know! I’ll try to help the best I can!

    • @BlakeHQ
      @BlakeHQ  Před 2 lety +3

      Yes you should be able too, I’ve never done it before but I don’t see a problem with it. You would just put a wire nut on the unused wire! Hope that helps!

  • @mplscarsales6652

    Not understanding isn’t single pole wiring usually a 14/2 3 wires total including ground usually black white and Copper ?

    • @BlakeHQ
      @BlakeHQ  Před 2 lety

      Single pole means you can only turn on/off the light from one location in the room. 3 way means you can turn on/off the light from multiple locations meaning you have more than one switch that turns on and off the same light! Hope that helps!

  • @nomadryder4377

    What if you only have white, black and ground. How do you hook that up?

    • @BlakeHQ
      @BlakeHQ  Před rokem

      The white will stay with the other whites, the ground will connect to the switch and you should have two blacks. They both should go to the switch!

    I still have 0 idea how to put 12 gage wiring to this. The wire is to fat to loop around the screw. On top of thr holes are way to small. Does this switch work with 12/3 wiring?
