Steve, you were the first maker on CZcams who I started watching regularly when I began my recovery from a brain injury years ago. You put the crazy idea in my head that even someone a bit different could make something cool in the world while getting to play with sharp, spinning blades. Here it is almost a decade later and I play with spinning blades, mains voltage electricity and all sorts of chemicals and molten plastics on a daily basis. Thanks for the inspiration when I needed it most, and congratulations on ten years of epic filmmaking. No doubt they'll be calling you to pick up the slack where Wes Craven left off =D

3:18 the groove comes from the fact that the piece originally represented a war elephant, the original shape had a deep rounded groove cut into the top of the piece rather than the side and the 2 points represented the elephant's tusks, however European players who had probably never seen an elephant before thought it looked more like a bishop's mitre, so the name changed. The modern shape was formalised by the Staunton chess set, which moved the groove to one side

I know that I am way behind here, and I'm commenting on your older videos. But I have been recently trying to get into a bit of woodworking and general DYI stuff. And I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the content you make. I very much appreciate your humble approach to this hobby, and how you seem to consistently promote that people focus on their project and skills more than on acquiring expensive tools. Particularly I think it's commendable that you oftentimes will mention alternative approaches to achieve what you are doing (in the event that the viewer might not have the same tools or skills as you).
And kudos on your humor as well. This entire video was quite meta, but I found it funny.
And I think that your chess set came out just amazing.
