Backwards Compatible has solidified in my heart as, probably, 8BBB's best album yet. While I was sad Snake Eater didn't make an appearance at the Sony Hall concert, I'm so looking forward to more work from the best video game big band in existence. The arrangements are just genius. I actually used Sony Hall for one of my college music courses and the professor was blown away by the quality. The band, the arrangements when compared to the originals (especially the Tetris theme including Russian folk songs and composers). I like to think he became a fan that day
Really appreciate the kind words!! Thank you so much for listening!!
Young jazz enthusiast here. I'd love to point out how I hear nodes and nods to The Pat Methany Group and Spiro Gyra in this album ❤❤❤. Love you guys!
'Dire Dire Docks', 'Snake Eater' and 'Jump Up Super Star' are my favourite tracks from The 8-Bit Big Band ❣
Kuru/Speak Like A Child intro and motif in the Chrono Trigger theme.... you mf's have my soul now
I can't tell you how excited I am for album 4! Album 3 was my favorite one so far, such a great variety of genres and fantastic melodies!
Nice username.
Big band jazz is more than just banger music; I feel like it's a feeling, an experience. This album really exemplifies this. The exciting beginning, with the intro and Chrono Trigger. All the vibes throughout the middle, with different styles and genres. And the ending is so good: I love how the mysterious, ominous feeling of Snake Eater then transitions into the joyous nature of Jump Up Super Star. I can't go without smiling during that one because of the infectious energy and euphoric vibes. It's a great way to start wrapping up. And then the SM World End Theme really provided closure, a satisfying ending.
I don't know how all of you do all this, but whatever you're doing, it's working. I love it. Thanks for this awesome music, can't wait for more!
Watch the video for "Underground Theme" to see how accurate your statement about it being an experience is! A huge pattern that I notice with ALL of the songs where The 8-Bit Big Band collab with someone, it ALWAYS, and I mean A~L~W~A~Y~S looks like the artitst they are collabing with is having a TOTAL blast! For an excellent example of THIS, look no further than Snake Eater!
Why is Hydrocity Zone such a BOP
That Spain sounding section got me right in my heart. RIP Chick Corea. Its also got a very Jaco Pastorius souding bassline. The song was excellent! :)
Plus the intro and bass line are lifted straight from Jaco's "Kuru / Speak like a Child"! 😄
you go it@@Failentin
Dang, y'all. I am just blown away by the arrangements and musicianship. I used to play sax in college and played with a couple of the jazz bands...and this just does my heart good. Thank you!
I always start my day with 'Jump Up Super Star'. Excellent piece
The artistry here is just alternating between mind blowing and making me swoon. So happy i found you guys!
love ya Hydrocity cover, should do more Sonic music originals slap but fans and remixers always seem to find an angle that slaps as hard if not harder in this case
man what a great album this is! every song is amazing!
Dire Dire Docks having a Portrait of Tracy style is gorgeous….
You're just the best. I'm waiting for the release of your new album (and for your reinterpretation of song of storm❤, one day)
November 10th!!
Overtly quoting Led Zeppelin in the Super Mario Land arrangement was a dangerous move 😂
Bold, and dangerous.
How dare you do something so Dangerous, yet Bold!?
Where? I don’t hear it. I love Led but clearly my mind is failing me here
Ah I just heard it. Kashmir. Awesome
I thought that the Chrono Trigger theme sounded similar to the Shaft Theme, but Sarias’s Song sounds like the Shaft Theme even more!
Can’t get enough of these!!!
Yay, can't wait to listen to it all
Top Class arrangements & performance guys
All of these are masterpieces!
This is amazing
This is phenomenal
Meta Knight's Revenge has a bit of a Lupin III flavor.
Amazing
Incredible.
Snake eater cover is such a blast!

Good God Song
So many take offs! I’ve heard Led Zeppelin, Spain, Soul with a Capital S and so many more! It’s disgustingly good!
You guys are good.
Chrono Spain is awesome
Best album yet
@3:20 definitely not playing "Spain"
Oh snap
Love the album, just the one thing i would change is the piano in the Chrono Trigger theme because it can feel real busy at times and not groove with the rest of the band imo, but hey that’s just me :0
Nice...
I imagine how they would play Angel Rain from We Love Katamari.
Angel rain would be a dream.
I even like some of the remixes like the accapella one, and Katamari on the swing.
I would also really love a Switch port of We ❤ Katamari. I have to try and fix my memory card to play anything PS2, Or buy a new painfully small 8 megabyte card. Lol
@@Mac_Omegaly Lonely Rolling Star x Angel Rain.
yes
ayyyyy
album 4 soon😨😨😨😨😨😨😨???????????
We're getting close!!
@@The8BitBigBand can we get some sneak peeks or anything? 🙏🏻
@@raffilevy2029 You can find some sneak peaks on their Instagram!
Is there something wrong with the mixing in Jump Up, Superstar? Vocalist blends in with the band, and the band sounds way... messier... than the rest of the tracks. It sounds really muddy, idk.
@24:55 Definitely not playing Bacchanal
Wrong album title in the description btw. Feel free to delete this comment after fixing ;)
Good catch thank you!!
