But they were also clearly more talented and athletic than their predecessors of the 60s/70s/80s. The future of the game looks less and less physical, talented players who would have been chewed out by injuries will get to have lengthy careers. Guys like Jerry who took every hit on the nose and kept going at the highest possible level ever will be something we can only remember

Difficult/impossible to compare the 2 overall, just sharing one data point. All respect to J Rice for his 20 year career greatness. Btw, I'm old enough to have watched him his entire career. Amazing!
