Fun fact: Al's voice-actor, Wayne Knight (a.k.a. Newman, a.k.a. Dennis Nedry, a.k.a. Tantor, a.k.a. Mr. Blik), would go on to voice Zurg on the _Buzz Lightyear_ animated series. Meanwhile, Zurg in this movie is voiced by Pixar staff member Andrew Stanton, who went on to write and direct _Finding Nemo_ and voice Crush the turtle in that film.
Also, on the TV series, Buzz was voiced by Patrick Warburton, the voice of Kronk. Make of that what you will.

Another fun fact, they added a goatee on to Al because Knight was growing one and they thought it would look good on him. This can be seen in the final movie when Etch's drawing of the chicken man doesn't have one

In answer to the origin of woody: There’s a story that goes that one of the film makers/ worked on the film of toy story before they passed told a fellow friend/ colleague their origin for woody. Supposedly he belonged to Andy’s father who was also called Andy. Woody was the only toy produced as a prototype for the woodys roundup show. Andys father loved cowboy crunchies and wrote a letter to the creators asking for a woody doll. Andys father therefore owned the only ever created version. As he got older he put woody in the attic for storage. After Andy was born, his dad became very sick and knew he was going to die. He passed along woody to his son so Andy would have something to remember his dad by. Since both the father and son were named “Andy” and woody had been in storage so long, he assumed that the Andy we know was the same boy as his father. That’s why he’s so protective of him because he feels he has been with him for so long. If I remember who it was that came up with this origin I’ll reply under here :)

I really like how Sid and Al are opposites as villains. They both love toys and are even willing to steal them without a hint of remorse, but that's where their similarities end.
Sid is a little kid that wants to satiate his destructive desires (even on his sister's toys). His villainy is more chaotic.
Al is an adult that sees the value in a toy (to the point of theft) and needs to keep everything preserved. His villainy is more pragmatic.

One of my uncles was a huge collector of John Deere toys. He has since sold a lot of his collection now but if I remember correctly. He had every model of toy/ collectible up to the year 2003. It was insane to see! He had a small museum basically. They were all displayed beautifully!

25:07 A tri-county or tri-state area is usually a metropolis that services-you guessed it-residents from three different areas. It’s basically just a centralized location, a hub for business and trade that you might not get in smaller or more rural areas. They’re all over the place in the US. For example, DC serves as the big, easy-to-reach city for many residents in Maryland and Virginia, specifically the trio Montgomery, Fairlax, and Prince George’s Counties.

There is a leading theory that Emily (Jessie's old owner) was Andy's mom. That's why she bought him Woody, because it reminded her of her own childhood.

Actually, it's been confirmed by the creators that Andy's _dad_ (Andy Sr.) is the one that bought/owned Woody first. That honestly makes it even better imo.

@@smileyhappyface5864 If Woody was originally Andy’s dad’s toy, shouldn’t he already have went through a kid outgrowing him? The second and third movie makes it seem like that’s his first time seeing a kid grow up. It seems he didn’t care as much about Andy’s dad as he does about Andy.

Summary. Woody's age is a recurring theme in the Toy Story franchise, as the pull-string doll has experienced wear and tear over time. In Toy Story 2, it is revealed that Woody was manufactured in the 1950s, making him 45 in the first movie and 59 in Toy Story 4. So, I imagine since the rest were made at the same time, they are probably about the same age. Jessie including.

25:10 I've never heard anyone use it beyond tv and movies. Some regions do have kind of unofficial names though like the DMV is the area where delewhere, Maryland, and Virginia meet. Also known as Washington DC. and New England which is Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Some of those states are rather small

It's also used for comedic reasons on the show _Phineas and Ferb,_ which is set in the fictional city of Danville, Jefferson County (named after the show's creators, Dan Povenmire and Jeff "Swampy" Marsh), which happens to be located in the Tri-State Area, which Dr. Doofenshmirtz frequently tries to conquer.

See unlike other toy's there were multiple types, JESSIE, Woody and Bullseye, and Stinkie Pete were custom made from the TV series, but there weren't others like them.
Like example we see millions of other Buzz light-years because it became such a popular toy.
According to Google and doing a lot of searching around. From Writers and Pixar, themselves. Stated that Woody belonged to Andy's dad.
Toy Story's protagonist, Woody, belonged to Andy's father first (indeed, Andy's mom calls Woody “an old family toy”). Andy's father was also named Andy-Andy Sr. -and he wrote his name on Woody's boot. The reason Woody is such a rare toy is because he's the only Woody doll that was ever made-just a prototype. Which is why Al wanted to steal him. But also, with Woody and why he is Andy's favorite toy because it's his only connection to his absent father.
You know it's kind of funny. Buzz when he came out of the box, he thought he was the real ranger. not a toy and yet he remembers things, he remembered everything on the side of his box when he and woody and everyone met in movie one. But now in this one, Woody has no idea who he is or has no backstory or one he even remembered, it's kind of funny in away the opposites between Buzz's backstory he remembers but Woody doesn't remember his backstory at all or that there was a TV show about him, He had no clue about any of it.

I think of Bo Peep as a ceramic figure you have in a baby or toddlers room sort of as decor, up high so they don’t break it. Like a precious moments figure. Andy steals her to play the damsel in distress like how my brothers would steal my Barbies to pretend they were their GI joes gfs.

3:25 It's crazy how conservatives get all up in arms over same-gender relationships in children's media when a character can get all intimate with someone of the opposite gender. Like... when I saw _Nimona,_ I literally didn't even know Balazar and that other knight were boyfriends until I saw it pointed out online - I thought they were just really close friends, like Woody and Buzz (in the sequels), for example.
(yeah, yeah, insert "historians say they were close freinds" joke here)
