I was there in 2019. A lovely place with outstanding service. Just walking around the property was beautiful. While dinner is great, it’s the breakfast that was not to be missed; and yes the gym was necessary! Each room is scented with a fragrance developed on island which I loved. We took time to visit the artist who created the scent and she gladly showed us her operation. Wonderful people who welcome travelers. The cruise areas were my least favorite spots tbh. La Semanna was a the perfect locale. Highly recommend, it’s the the best resort on the island.

We finagled ourselves onto the beach of this hotel in 1982 and plonked ourselves down on the lounge chairs. It was lovely. Met some nice Italians there.

St. Maarten is my absolute favourite of the Caribbean islands. I spent a full day there, with a rented quad bike, and did the circumference of the island-both the French and Dutch sides.

Outstanding video.
The circular Corail room with the breakfast buffet selections used to be a Moroccan-themed piano bar. The manic pianist would alternate between espressos and Heinekens while playing. He was pretty good though. I have been there many times in the last 30 years. It's always been great. I wouldn't stay anywhere else on the island, although I prefer Anguilla.

Eggs bene on the island of St Maarten! Been awhile since we've seen you walking in the sand. And the sand and water were, as you pointed out, pristine. I've never really considered visiting the Caribbean, but I shall have to re-think that, since it's not that far from California. I think that hotels will be offering masks with their amenities in the future :( I went to see my doc this week and all she could offer me was a tetanus shot, since CA has run out of COVID vaccine for the time being. As the years went past, I have moved from "time to live" to "time left to live". But I aspire to visit at least 5 of the good resorts filmed by you.
That been said, staying in a 5 star luxury is good but the feel good factor wears of soon and it feels as you are on the top of the ivory tower. For me unless I visit the market place to explore the local stuff and local street side food the journey is incomplete.

And YES he gets that Multi-Million Dollar Sunset. That one was right up there with Santorini. In Canada as of tomorrow, all non-essential sun destination travel has been banned until April 30th. Flight companies have cancelled all outbound flights. And if you leave the country during the ban, upon your return, you will pay $2000@ out of your own pocket, for a three day stay in a govt facility with a Covid test, plus 14 days further quarantine at home. What I would not give for that beach, right about now !!
