  • I've always wanted to take a canoe to one of the high mountain lakes I visit-not only to fish from, but also to get back into better camping spots. Well, I finally did it. Fishing from the canoe didn't work out as well as I had hoped, mostly because of the wind pushing my big old 16-ft canoe around. I then fished from the shore, but with no success-I ate my bacon and eggs for dinner. The next morning, after I had had my coffee, I took the canoe to the middle of the lake, dropped in my fishing rig, rowed back to shore, and then slowly reeled in. I did that four times. Right when I was ready to give up I had success! I caught a beautiful fall-colored brook trout, which made for a delicious camp breakfast!
My fishing kit consists of a 6' St Croix rod that breaks down into four 18 inch long pieces. My spinning reel is a Pflueger Parsp30. I catch most of my fish on a black marabou jig.
Most of my camp cooking gear, I design myself and have manufactured to my (very picky) standards-which I offer to my customers via my website. I do my best to keep my products simple and practical, drawing from my life's experience as an outdoor enthusiast, and my natural desire to figure out "the best way" to make things work. See all I have to offer here: www.fireboxsto...
    Cheers, Steve
    Thanks!
