May he rest in peace. He had some of the most iconic calls in the NHL and he will be missed dearly
RIP RJ! Welcome back Lindy.
RJ is the greatest to ever do it ! So great to see Coach Lindy, also the best coach we ever had.
It's a shame it had to be Bill Spaulding's Devils to eliminate RJ's very last chance at coming out of retirement for one last playoff hoorah.
RIP RJ. Goat.
I remember playing hockey in gym school and hearing "Top shelf where momma hides the cookies." He is truly iconic. I will be using the RJ Labatt bottle opener for as long as it works. He was such an amazing personality. Of all his broadcast partners over the years. As a kid, I never truly understood just how special he was and assumed all teams had an RJ. We were truly blessed as fans to have him calling our games for over 50 years
Lifelong STL Blues fan since 1967 here. Beyond being a Blues fan, I’m just a HOCKEY fan. I always enjoyed hearing Rick Jeanneret’s play by play. Tremendous broadcaster. Tremendous guy. All hockey fans will miss him. I hope you folks in western NY will cherish his memory. There won’t be another one like him!
Sitting hear listening to that scary good call..literally in tears….RJ is so good
When I think of watching the Sabres, it’s his voice I will always hear!!
I remember one time he said Lindy Ruff was going to have kittens in reference to Lindy being angry. I use this in everyday life from time to time. RIP Rick
Nothing but great memories of RJ. To say he was unique is an understatement. May he rest in peace and we are ALL better for having the privilege of calling him "our" announcer. Loved Lindy too, by the way.
Life time Sabre fan. Growing up i would listen on the radio and he would call a game like you were watching it on TV. It was so exciting listening to RJ So many great calls omg I will miss you RJ and the hockey world. I wish the Sabres won one for him (hopefullt soon) RIP RJ no doubt about it and not even close the BEST ever
I've been a Sabres fan all my life, since their inception into the NHL. I loved to listen to the games on the radio, and watch Hockey Night In Canada (on channel 5). My parents were strict and wouldn't allow a radio in my room at night, they knew that I'd stay awake listening to hockey... In seventh grade shop class, I built a Crystal Radio that used my bed frame as an antenna and had one ear bud. I was able to listen to RJ and Ted Darling call the Sabres games.
When playing hockey on the ice or in the street, it was RJ's voice you heard in your head calling the play. What a incredibly talentend man that brought so much to the community and Sabres Hockey. Truely the GOAT!
One of the Very Best EVER RJ RIP!
Love this, good luck Lindy & RIP RJ
Will forever bring amazing memories anytime one of his calls is replayed....he will be missed
RIP to the absolute GOAT
May his memory be for a blessing
We love you Rick. May the legends be blessed to have you calling the games in the heavens. #rickjeannerete
RJ is the best
Marty tugging Emery down by the pads after getting his ass pretty much handed to him by Emery is one of the best fight moves by a Sabre ever. 🤣🤣
My mom and I quote the brawl parody song whenever we see Lindy and Marty together 😂 Hey Lindy! I'm brawlin!!!
He was a
Passionate guy
I forgot to put my cell phone on silent as I was walking down the isle as a groomsman in my buddy’s wedding, next thing you know the whole church hears “Oh ‘tis the season! FA LA LA LA LA LA LAFontaine!!!” 😂 😂 Both the fathers were huge RJ fans so they thought it was bad ass lol.
Rip Rick
Everyone in the room would always yell ooooovertime
As a life long Leafs fan along with being a western New Yorker my entire life, RJ was definitely well known and will be fondly remembered for as long as the league exists! He was the best! He'll be missed!
💛RJ💙
Gee Wiz, I do like Lindy. I hope the Jersey fans appreciate him through Devils wins and losses. RIP Rick- Thank You
The best talking about the best. ❤
Definitely a sad day in hockey!!!
This was really beautiful❤️🙌🏻
My Christmas ringtone is La La La La La La LA Fontaine too!!!!
really sticks tht ruff got pushed out for no reason. miss the old gang :(
Pegula’s big failure. Haven’t seen the playoffs since Ruff was canned. RJ made the games watchable.
"May day, may day, may day...."
Rip Richard John Jeanneret, you will be missed
Absolutely gutted
I just found out about RICK JEANNERETTE'S PASSING. A true legend in hockey broadcasting. The way he calls Sabres games is truly amazing. If there was a MOUNT RUSHMORE of hockey broadcasters, he would on there. My condolences to his family, his friends, and his many fans, nobody was better at his craft than he was, he won't be forgotten.🏒🎤🎤
Whoever the Sabres have now broadcasting their games, he is going to have big shoes to fill, taking over for a legend like R.J.. But I know he will do just fine. RIP RICK JEANNERETT 🏒🎤
Now Bob Cole is gone too. Sad the best are going away
whos the lesbian in the middle
The guy who’s made millions and millions as a man……..
Not going to lie but hearing May Day all day everyday. As Lindy says too would be sooo annoying lol
