    The fish pictured in the video are just gorgeous. The tips are very good. Where the female is larger, I have seen one of my males wrap his Fins around the girth of the female, and successfully spawn. It is probably a rare occurrence, but I have witnessed it.

    Excellent video. Comprehensive, and very well explained, with good video quality.
    One observation from me.... Sometimes, we release the female after a day even though the bubble nest may not be well formed. Since bubble nest building ability varies greatly among male Bettas, I find it better to wait an extra day in some cases, before releasing the female.
    One question.... How many days after a breeding attempt (successful or failed) can a Betta be taken up for breeding again?
    Also, please post a video on care of newborn Betta fry.

    • @aquadiaryofficial

      Male betta fish can be ready for breeding just by waiting for a week. If your betta fishes were healthy and no serious injuries, it’s good to start after 1 week of current breeding session.

      Atleast 5 gallons size.. more empty space for female to run around is better. Some breeders use circular plastic tubs as female don’t get cornered to attack. Keep the height of the water from bottom is low.

    I have a female and male together in a heavily planted 3 gallon, they get along mostly but the male chases her sometimes, the female isn't old enough to breed, but the male is. do you think they will breed as she matures? or should i remove her from the tank until she is older??? otherwise they live together just fine at the moment

    • @aquadiaryofficial
      @aquadiaryofficial  Před rokem +2

      A female with a visible egg spot and an egg-filled stomach is ready to breed. Usually, if a female is over 4-5 months old, she is physically mature for breeding. Still, I'm concerned about 3-gallon tank with male and female. The female may be always hiding from the male and under stress. In case both are mature but still not mating, I would move the female away for a week and then put her back. Good luck!

      Hello Bro, Usually, it’s natural parental instinct for bettas. So automatically they do take care. Just like any other animal, the individual may or may not be good at something.
      Also note, if male notice eggs are not good, they eat them or leave them sometimes. It’s also common betta behavior. So check, it’s not taking care of anything or only portion of it.
      If parameters are prefect, water surface isn’t being disrupted too much, it most likely means he’s not good at making nests.

    I’m wanting to breed my Bettas, and I’ve had them in a divided tank for about a week. The male had quite a big bubble nest going, so I lifted the divider. The fish aren’t fighting, but the male is running away from the female? The female isn’t biting or doing anything to the male, but he still runs away from her. Is this normal behaviour? In normal circumstances I’d assume it would be the other way around.

    • @aquadiaryofficial

      I would avoid. It will often cause difficulty to collect fry or egg from bottom. Also, if betta miss to notice eggs in bottom, it will spoil the water. Eventhough sand or gravel substrate are tiny, I would avoid unless you can’t change the tank.

    Tried breeding my male with 2 separate females both times failed.
    1. With a more peaceful female , kept her in a glass jar for 2 days while the male build a nest . Female had vertical strips and egg spot but soon as i released her he started chasing and even after 4-5 hrs no breeding had to remove the female due to her fins getting damaged by male.
    2. With an aggressive female, kept her again for 2-3 days in glass and male build the nest then released her again he started chasing her and after 3 hrs her fins were torn too.
    The male has been with me for 9+ months now not sure of his actual age but he is active and fins are healthy and suggestions how can i get him to breed ?

    • @aquadiaryofficial
      @aquadiaryofficial  Před rokem

      Male chasing female before releasing eggs are normal. You can wait upto 1 day for them to mate. keep in round/oval breeding tank, so female don’t get cornered to attack. Also inspect the bubble nest, if bubble nests were not healthy, females will not be interested. If it’s keep happening, change the male. Also inspect females stomach visibly looks big with eggs.

      Yes, but understanding colors will help you greatly on betta breeding. Betta fish color layers are little bit difficult to understand, basic layers starts from iridescent, black, red, yellow. Betta quality and fry color produced by the betta combination you choose. For example, red betta fishes generally have better immune genetics. So it’s higher possibly for breeding success and healthy fry for new breeders. I will create a 2 part video to talk about the betta color layers and how to choose in feature video. Good luck with breeding.
